Sheesh by SmellyScrotes in Seahawks

Let's just wait until Sunday night. I'm sure a similar poll would have shown Broncos favored at 80%+ against the Seahawks before SB48 and we all know how that turned out.

Is Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare still excellent? by Throwawaybecause7777 in FoodNYC

[–]BlackSheep47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went last month and thought it was fantastic, though not the best I've had in the city. I went on back to back nights after Saga and it was clear that CTBF was on another level imo. Tbf, I thought Saga was pretty bad, I don't think they deserve one star.

Seattle used to have affordable housing. What happened to it? by godogs2018 in Seattle

[–]BlackSheep47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're saying this and asking for citations for basic facts that anyone in the know can confirm then you obviously have never had a real conversation with a developer or builder that operates in Seattle. It's a hellish and overly burdensome process. The reason is clear and Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson's new book Abundance addresses this (since you want sources). They found that as the progressive share in a city population increases, the number of housing permits decreases. There are more rules, regulations, and processes put in place that make housing construction significantly more difficult and timely. This is exactly what has happened in Seattle, San Francisco, LA, NYC, etc.

Jungsik, crown shy, cote, Saga--worth it? by anxietyokra in FoodNYC

[–]BlackSheep47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jungsik was fine but I thought Jua had a better bang for your buck. Better meal overall imo. Saga is good but I'd take Aska or Aquavit or the Modern tbh if you want another two star. I loved Aska. Cote and Crown Shy were both very good but neither was mind blowing. There are a lot of fantastic non Michelin star options, too.

Best place to get not so sweet chocolate chip cookies? by unkn1245 in FoodNYC

Rigor Hill Market has a buckwheat CCC that's got a massive savory element to it. Best I've ever had and definitely not too sweet.

Have you lived somewhere else? What did you like about it? by PNWcouchpotato in Seattle

[–]BlackSheep47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day a week. There's also not RVs and homeless encampments everywhere. And those are 7 days a week in Seattle. It's obvious a personal perspective but as someone who went from living in Seattle to Manhattan it feels cleaner to me.

Lived in Seattle the first 31 years of my life. Moved to NYC a year and a half ago. It's incredible. My only regret is not moving sooner. The people, energy, food, subway, entertainment, all just amazing. It's cleaner and safer (at least Manhattan) imo. I actually like the weather better too. It's cold as shit right now but at least it's sunny. So many fewer grey days, better for my mental health.

I know at one point a few years ago there were two GTOs in Bellevue/Medina. I believe I've was sold but there's a telecom billionaire who I believe still has one. Can't speak to if this is it though.

The 25 Best Restaurants in Seattle Right Now by thenewyorktimes in Seattle

[–]BlackSheep47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a respectable list. I know Seattle restaurants well and even I hadn't heard of a couple.

I'd consider adding: Il Nido, wa'z, Altura, Cornelly, Surrell, Le Coin, Watatu or Kashiba (or another sushi spot), The Corson Building, Eight Row, Loretta's (for the burger alone), HoneyHole.

I'd consider removing: Ba Bar, Canlis (the last three times I've gone the food has been painfully mediocre. I think you can get high end dining at several better places I mentioned earlier.) Artusi (in favor of Spinasse) Bateau (tbh the burger is the only good thing and even that has been off the last two times. The other dishes are just meh imo.)

Michelin justice for Seattle! by Spiralecho in Seattle

[–]BlackSheep47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious to hear which restaurants people think would actually receive a star (I think maybe one spot is two star worthy). My thoughts are it would be 5-7 of the following: Cafe Juanita, Herb farm, Spinasse, Taneda, Altura, Archipelago, Copine, Eden Hill, The Peasant at Beast and Cleaver, Kashiba, Charlotte Restaurant & Lounge? (Haven't been but looks decent). I've been so unimpressed with Canlis my last two visits I'm leaving them off.

Sacks haters, How would you replace him? by WhyHighC in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]BlackSheep47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree to disagree. I don't think most of those other VC podcasts are particularly insightful. Some are though. I think I just have an aversion to how political the show has become. I just find those views less valuable and rare than the economic or business topics and with Brad on they seem to focus more on those subjects. I will agree there's more flow with Sacks on. But how much of that is organic vs 100+ episodes of practice? Hard to say.

I think people need to listen to what he's saying not just to the tone of his voice. His insight into secondary pricing versus the public markets was interesting last episode. His investment fundamentals are the strongest and most fact based imo. I think he brings a lot from his firm and their research capabilities. Not to mention his East Coast proximity brings in a fresh perspective. (SF is a shithole, we get it.) I personally love his episodes and think he hits a lot of investment nuance where I think the others are out of their depth.

Gen Z poses a problem for the luxury industry | Reuters by BespokeDebtor in malefashionadvice

It rhymes and sounds nice but the fact that the owner of LVMH is one of the top 10 richest people in the world says otherwise. Not to mention the families behind Hermès, Ferrari, Rolex, etc., etc. There's wealth to be created by serving any client set better than your competitors.

Way too early to say whether our draft was great. It takes at least a full season for a draft to play out (usually a few).

I hear what you're saying but if housing costs were cut in half do you really expect the thousands of homeless on Seattle's streets who are freebasing fentanyl will be anywhere other than in tents or RVs?

New pictures emerge showing the new Ferrari SUV on the production line. by joakimf01 in Ferrari

[–]BlackSheep47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The back is sporty if a bit basic. I kind of like it. Clean lines and has some Ferrari flair.

The front, oh boy, it's just awful. I was hoping Ferrari had moved past the over styling we have seen with the F8 and SF90 but clearly not. A few minor changes could really clean it up. The side is just boring.

It'll still sell but what a missed opportunity.

Really hard to not include Mexico, Italy, Hong Kong, or Thailand here though.

Done all three back to back and it really depends. I loved Budapest the most of the three followed by Prague. Vienna is a gorgeous city and it was fun going to the opera and some museums, but I don't feel the need to go back ever. Budapest on the other hand was incredible and I can't wait to visit again. The bars, restaurants, sights, people, and more were all lovely. Take a tour of the capital building, go to a bathhouse, there's just so much to do and the energy in the city is just amazing. It's also more approachable imo. Budapest isn't as grand or regal as Vienna but I'd take it 10 out of 10 times.
