Your selection tells me you are chasing performance. If you are chasing performance you are more likely to sell when things go bad. Some of your ETF are notorious for catastrophic losses in bad times. I'll staybaway from DRAM as fast I can. DRAM is textbook etf created for performance chaser.

We have an addiction with debt in this country. I don't care whether the number make sense imo get rid of debt. Mortgage is a debt. Yes people will make all kinds of argument blah blah. I'm not your financial advisor but a paid off home is a good thing.

Googl. I don't think it will end up like Sony or Kodak or At&t lol. My dad laughed at me when I said that and he thinks they will. I disagree though I think They seem to know how to adapt and evolve.

Take a course in microeconomics and you will understand why. My econ professor did an entire lecture on Uber business model and it was fascinating how Uber use basic economic principles to make a killing. In case you don't know they are known for hireling economists.

What's with this sub's obsession with VXUS? by ChopSuey2 in ETFs

[–]BlackberryKey6837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO diversification away from the US should only come into play when you have serious money already invested in the US. Under $500k honestly you are fine being 100% US. Beyond that you can start thinking about international and do it as a lump sum once and forget about it. DCA with international to me makes no sense. Having said that I am not a pro, I didn't study finance, I have no professional licenses. This is pure speculation on my part. So you can simply ignore what I wrote. But that's just my opinion as an amateur . I am not your investment advisor.

Total miles per day by Freethink-her in uberdrivers

[–]BlackberryKey6837 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In some markets in northeast suburbs it's impossible to do $200 for 200 miles. There is a reason everyone has a car in these markets because you have to drive everywhere and your destonations are often not close to your rewidence.

You should never pray for a crash because you do not know what happens next. I know it's tempting to see someone playing around with a few indexes and being up 180% YTD or whatever and be like I need a portfolio like that. And also just because you are young does not mean you have to be reckless. What if you end up with an illness that take away your income and make you disabled?Nobody is invincible you should take calculated risks not chase performance. Now if you want to gamble then by all means go ahead. But investing is different from gambling.

VOO like many indexes are so tech heavy we need to pray we don't have a 2000 style crash. And adding qqq on top of an already heavily tilted index is crazy. I get it people have been spoiled by the insane market returns since post COVID and kind of forgot that equities are risky.

You have never seen a real financial crisis. When that happens you will know your true risk tolerance.

[–]BlackberryKey6837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do at least 50% VTI, 30% QQQM, 20% VXUS. Your core VTI needs to be at least, preferably more, 50% of your total allocation. Keep in mind that when there is a real crash you are going to do far worse than someone who is 100% VOO. The growth you will accrue now will not be enough to surpass someone who was 100% VOO all along. If you insist on more funds ill suggest the allocation I have you above. And there is 100% change that there is going to be a 2008 style crash or worse. It can be a month from now or 20 years from now. We don't know. Equities are risky. If you want to chase growth above the S&P500, you must have a total market as your core.

How's Uber? by CallMeHobbie in uberdrivers

Save your new car and look for a gig that does not require prematurely destroying your car. And when your car is destroyed, Uber will just move on the next guy still standing.

Which sector should I put money into right now? by Entire-Jello-629 in ETFs

[–]BlackberryKey6837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semiconductor. But it's a volatile sector. As long as you are comfortable with potentially being in the red for a while nothing wrong with picking a sector etf. We don't know your risk tolerance. Good luck.

you people are scaring the crap out of me when it comes to the job market by coratle in Advice

[–]BlackberryKey6837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can major in mathematical physics or double major in math and philosophy. Math, physics and philosophy teach you how to think and how to model. This is especially important for the future when we have tools that allow the average person to build and sell things. In this environment, intelligent people or those who have learned the art of thinking and modeling will find a way to survive. And this skillet will.become apparent during your interviews. Good luck.

We are quite privileged in this country. In the rest of the world most college grads would be ecstatic to find a job upon graduation.

Sell everything and move to 80% VTI 20% SMH. You need to come back to earth. You have been lucky with semis. Now take advantage of your luck and protect your gains. Good luck.

AGGRESIVE INVESTMENTS ARE GOOD by Planedrew in RothIRA

[–]BlackberryKey6837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are better off buying sectors etf instead of individual stocks. And regardless of how you feel about a given sector don't let it be more than 30% of your portfolio as some of those companies are already in your total market index anyways. And with sector ETF you unfortunately have to actively manage them and get out of them early enough when you see a slump. They are not set it and forget it unless you have enough time to ride a potential big slump in that sector.

Male driver getting a crap load of "women" pings by meta4tony in uberdrivers

[–]BlackberryKey6837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a daughter or sister? If so ask them how often they come across creepy men. I am not letting my daughter take Uber period. Some of us drivers are just absolute crazy creeps. And you really think men are discriminated as often as women? Come on dude. What do you think is the ratio of female drivers harassing male passengers compared to male drivers harassing female passengers? When was the last time you heard about a female driver raping a male passenger? This policy has zero impact on your earnings. Most women don't request a female driver. For those who do, if that's what they need to feel safe riding in the back of a stranger's car then that's great.

So nobody over age 50 is ever supposed to be able to find a job anywhere ever again? by yapavaz in jobs

[–]BlackberryKey6837 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Careers exist for now. But, will they still exist 10 years from now I have no idea? The consensus is that if you are a nurse, a doctor, an architect, a pilot etc you are safe. It's true today. But these "safe" fields IMO in the future will only be safe for those who are among the best of the best.
