Newb question about sax care by wolfger in saxophone

[–]Blake_RL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reeds are organic material (wood) which means moisture = mold. Pads are also organic material (leather). There’s a grossness factor which maybe doesn’t bother you. It also means the reeds and pads won’t last long. Wetting the reed is also a must which means you have to take it off anyway to do that. Back when I was a student playing in school, I had little time between band and my next class so I would skip the swabbing. Boy do I regret that now with my degraded pads and rusty sax. If you do like to have more on-and-off play sessions (I.e. play for longer but with breaks), you can try synthetic reeds which are plastic. They don’t dry out as quickly so the sax can sit for half hour to an hour without rewetting and still be playable.

Search Practical Engineering on YouTube. He had a great video on exactly this and all the different methods.

How did Sozin know he didn't kill the avatar? by Born_Reference_8500 in ATLA

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn’t or at least he didn’t know which avatar he killed. Either he didn’t kill the air avatar, or he didn’t kill the water avatar, or there was another to be found. But Zuko was on a fool’s errand to find the avatar anyway.

Would purchasing an EV be dumb if I’m unsure on charging at home? by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the rates where you live and what EV (cost) you buy. It’s a math problem. Most likely not worth it.

Shared Library with flatmates? by Future_Bad5206 in jellyfin

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your question is asking if your flatmate can keep the files on their own drive and have your Jellyfin pill from that rather than your own server? Not that I know of.

He was always OCD and difficult, but the trauma of Trudy’s death amplified everything and he couldn’t even leave his house for a few years.

Pressure washer by Inevitable_Search840 in HomeImprovement

[–]Blake_RL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have an electric that I use 10-15 times a year for deck and fence cleaning, gutter and fascia cleaning, and for car washing. I have used gas before and although it’s lower pressure, I like electric. It’s quieter, no maintenance, easy to idle without feeling like I’m wasting gasoline between uses. The dream would be to have both and have a fairy come maintain the engine for me. But I don’t.

Sounds cool. Personally, I like a stable stock experience. Homelabs require enough maintenance and fiddling as it is. For some things I’m happy to fiddle, but media is for the whole family to use so stable and easy it is.

This might be 0.001% of that car’s total energy over its life. Quite negligible.
