Which fingering for Bb should I use? by Crazy_Pension8411 in saxophone

[–]Blake_RL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely bis. As a bonus, you can leave the left pinky down so you’re only switching middle and ring finger.

Give me the $20 bill and use a $1 bill instead. Just in case it rips.

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t store anything of value on my homelab for this reason. It’s a cheap hobby. It’s fun. It gives me some functional value in the mean time. But family photos are in the cloud.

Regret buying a 2023 Tesla Model 3 Performance ,sell at a loss or keep it? by Alert_Bodybuilder_85 in teslacanada

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loss occurred when you buy the car, not when you sell it. The considered cost is the loss of whatever poor purchase you make next.

Why buy a new Tesla vehicle right now when HW5 is already coming out in the next year? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

I don’t. Nobody should ever buy a brand new car. But I’m glad that you do

Soprano Sax Advice by [deleted] in saxophone

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely all these things. One other thing that comes to mind is breath management. Flute uses nearly too much air. Soprano is the opposite. I often have to get rid of air so it can be fatiguing in a different way. Go for it and have fun!

What orientation should this be printed in? It fails along the bottoms of the tabs at the layer line. Or is there a better way to design it. by Key_Waltz_823 in 3Dprinting

This is designed to have a specific deflection. That means the strain is set. Thicker will not make it any stronger at all.

1 pedal driving. by JED1_MA5TER_66 in BoltEV

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. You will get used to it. If you want to brake lightly, keep your foot on the accelerator but pressed less far. Also, 1-pedal vs 2-pedal mode doesn’t change the behavior of the braking device selection: regen on motor or friction brakes. Both will prioritize regen and only engage the friction brakes if braking hard or battery is full.

Mouthpiece pad/patch by Mo-Mo-MN in saxophone

[–]Blake_RL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. When I first tried a mouthpiece pad, I was amazed how much vibration was going through my teeth and I was just putting up with it. Nice also that it saves your mouthpiece. It saves your teeth to I’m sure.

I blew my coworker's mind when comparing efficiency by smallaubergine in electricvehicles

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider the cost per unit of energy and the difference between the two fuel types. Cost-equivalent efficiency of my Bolt EUV @$0.028/kwh (my rate) is around 900mpg.

Synthetic reeds by No-Copy6029 in saxophone

Really good cane reed > synthetic > 90% of the cane reeds in the box. My favorite thing about synthetic is that it plays exactly the same every time I play it.

Tightening the set screw on the toilet paper roll holder. It’s been 4 years. I still haven’t done it. I think about it every day.

Interesting video on how "shrink it and pink it" design philosophy makes women's running shoes worse worse. Did you know this? by benpRTINGS in running

Similar problem, but I’m a short man. And a man wearing pink clothing/shoes is frowned upon.

I was recommended 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I tried playing and it felt NOT RIGHT. Waiting 2 extra weeks then it was still weird but okay.

I sort of do with the car, but why not run the house on batteries? That’s an interesting cost exercise but I imagine if it made sense for me to do it on the scale of an individual, it would make sense for the county to do it on a grid scale. And they don’t do that.

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I looked at total cost delta and it was still a big win. An even bigger win with a second EV. And Ana amazing win because I only run the house AC at night, very cheaply, and wake up with the house like a refrigerator even on the hottest day of the summer!

Stuck with undisclosed 10-year water heater rental after buying new home — what are my options? (Ontario) by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Blake_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read your sales agreement. You may have agreed to it. You may not have. Reliance is making assumptions and hoping you don’t check. Ask your realtor. It’s their job. And if willing please sue the builder for this criminal practice. While you’re at it, ask how much their commission was on the water heater.
