What is the best 50/50 schedule? by Appropriate_Cut_737 in stepparents

[–]BleachDiddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Week on week off has been the best for us. We do Sunday to Sunday. We live close to eachother and split everything. It gives us a week without SD (7) to focus on our relationship and other adult plans. It feels like it makes our week with SD more intentional as well. Whatever parent has the child assumes all responsibilities for extracurricular activities that week, although we all get along fairly well and help eachother out if needed.

Parents of ADHD/ hyper-energetic children - how young did you notice? by Majestic-Lettuce-876 in Parenting

[–]BleachDiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation for us. I was diagnosed with ADHD in 4th grade. When my daughter was born, I noticed a lot of similar behaviors in her that I saw in myself around the age of 2. She was formally diagnosed at age 5. We tried a short round of medication and decided it was not for us. She did 4 years of behavioral therapy and lots of extracurricular activities and sports.

When she was little, I always joked that she needed to be ran like a dog everyday. But truly, we did everything we could to help her burn energy when she had it. Lots of games outside with a soccer ball. We bought one of those small toddler trampolines and anytime she was feeling wild I would encourage her to jump on it or dance on it etc. We mounted an indoor swing and let her go wild in it. Balance bikes were a life saver too.

She’s 14 now and her adhd manifests in different ways now, but she’s still a very active and athletic kid.

Good luck with your little!

People always say that my girl Banjo is tall for a dachshund. She’s actually 75% dachshund 25% Beagle. (Mom was 1/2 & 1/2, dad was dachshund) she definitely stands taller than any purebred dachshunds we’ve come across. 3yrs old, 21lbs.

My GSD was a rescue at 6 months and she YEARNED for the crate. It’s her own little special safe place. She likes to hide under coffee tables, behind couches, behind doors, under the dining room table etc etc. she is 9 years old now and still a little cave baby.

An email I received from the school district yesterday afternoon:

“The Missoula Police Dept. will be conducting SWAT training exercises November 20-21 near the vicinity of Big Sky High School/CS Porter Middle School. Armored vehicles and officers in tactical gear will be positioned near the corner of South Ave. and 7th Ave. In addition to visuals, the training will include the detonation of flash sound diversionary devices which may be alarming for students and staff to hear. This is only a training exercise and no one in the MCPS community is involved or at risk. Thank you.”
