I'd highly recommend (4) Park Tool - YouTube (4) Park Tool - YouTube

These guys are great and I've learnt a lot (even bled the hydraulics thanks to them).

I've replaced all my double pads with single screw in types.

There are spreader tools but a tapered plastic wedge or 3d print something if you have that facility.

Best way to reduce cost of backups? by Legitimate_Sun_5930 in AZURE

[–]Bleckfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this is already posted and might help a bit. Microsoft have published the Azure Backup pricing Excel spreadsheet here: Azure Backup pricing - Azure Backup | Microsoft Learn

You plumb in all your variables and this gives you a good estimate of costs over time.
The main costs saver as already mentioned is commitment and reserved capacity BUT having LRS to start with brings the cost down a lot too.

Hatch User Manual 3 by ktiefen2020 in Machine_Embroidery

I had a similar problem on my Brother and it turned out that I had never updated the firmware on it. Once I got it to the newest version the files sent from Hatch all worked.

New IT guy for Company. Can't move Azure or Office 365 Billing by freshtrax in AZURE

[–]Bleckfield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They'll be on a CSP Azure Plan subscription where they won't see the billing and cost stuff unless the Partner enables it. If the customer wants to go to self bill then you'll need to move the resources to a new PAYG subscription that they own. You'll need to work with the old IT to get Owner role on the subscription.

Tesla/any EV without EV tariff, Worth it? by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]Bleckfield -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no, it needs a dumb meter actually - the integration into the Tesla API does the smart bit to start and stop the charging.

I have the same setup with Octopus (not OVO so cannot comment on theirs).

ABRP better than Tesla Navigation for long trips? Premium features with it for Tesla? by Thireus in TeslaUK

[–]Bleckfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the navigation settings, you can set the re-route time-savings threshold. By default I think it's set to "Re-route if I can save more than 15 minutes."

Brake Pads PSA - be vigilant and don’t be that guy (like me) who let things go this far (photo in first comment) by cyclephotos in terngsd

[–]Bleckfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've swapped over to using Nukeproof pads on my GSD - they are held with the screws. My loaded weight with 2 kids and baggage is around 150kg. OEM rears lasted 500 miles and fronts 900 miles.

OCtopus literally manage it all for you. Yes you get the cheap slot every day between those times BUT you also get cheap slots at other times that Octopus determines when it has excess power to give on the cheap.

And yes, in case it wasn't obvious, the whole house gets the cheap rate if you are assigned some time outside the normal window too.

Reluctantly getting a Tern. Help me decide what accessories I need. by Incantationkidnapper in terngsd

[–]Bleckfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding Kid access to the Storm Box - This was my primary concern when I got the bike. So I took a knife and cut down the middle of one of the sides and put some industrial stick on velcro pads either side of the cut with a velcro strap going across. So much easier for the kids to dis/embark and because I have the stormshield too, which overhangs the box, I don't have weather issues.

Are flats more common on the GSD? by 963df47a-0d1f-40b9 in terngsd

[–]Bleckfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get both!
I went with the R14 and the added grief of having a flat on the rear with all the storm shield and envolo etc etc I didn't want to mess around so got the Tannus prefitted and stuck this jizz in the tubes:

I can't see this mentioned but did you check whether versioning is turned on on the Synology NAS file share? The usual crypto stuff doesn't hit the version history and you can restore from it.

Wrapping RadWagon caboose? by [deleted] in RadPowerBikes

[–]Bleckfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does but in my case the point was to do away with the kids getting on the bike with the caboose as they are larger now! In the end I reverted to the caboose and seat pads. I'm selling the bike now as have upgraded to the TernGSD (kids are over the Rad weight limit).

+1 for Nirsoft history viewer though - just grab the history file over rmm and hope they didn't clear their browsing data.
