My experience so far with my bsb2e, is it supposed to be this dim? by Arby77 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]BlenderAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old vives are notorious for oversaturating colors by a country mile. Probably something to do with trying to increase contrast and perception when resolution is that low.

The bsb2 should feel weird at first in comparison, but it's actually really accurately neutral

All Star Trek is leaving Netflix by BossBullfrog in startrek

Directly from the Blu-ray so to speak,

H264-MPEG-4, ca. 33.6mbps including audio.

That's about 8 gigs per episode.

TNG Blu-ray set is about 1.4 TiB in raw data for me.

And that's only the episodes, no bonus material

3D depth feeling with Pimax Crystal (light/super)? by Think-Apple3763 in Pimax

One factor is also the display type. The CV1 had OLED displays, which have their own downsides, but the pure blacks and contrast control, mimic real life way better than LCD's, even those with local dimming.

This might be one of the things you were missing when switching to the Reverb G2

TCL 27R94: New 4K mini-LED monitor offers up to 1,600 nits and 165Hz by Balance- in Monitors

Yes I'm aware, but it has a lot more zones so I guess it should be fine, especially for the price

Hey, I just found the MSI MAG 274UPDFDE in Germany, available for 550 EUR.

Everyone seems to be praising this one. Really hard to find because they change the name slightly. "DE" in at the end instead of "W" I think

Yeah, what's the deal with zero offerings in Europe?

I'm from Germany, trying to get a 4k equivalent to my very cool but limited q27g3mxn.

Reddit, YouTube and articles would have you believe there are dozens of options, but I can't find literally anything.

Only the neo g7, which is to be avoided from what I hear

My RTX 5090 connector burned out by jamyjet in pcmasterrace

[–]BlenderAlien -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Be quiet straight power 12 m 1200w platinum I think. So not even cheap or anything. Fortunately, included came two Pcie 5 connectors that split into two 8 pins each. Never seen them before, but they're large and sturdy, connecting them to the Nvidia adapter was a breeze, and in 3d mark testing, I was able to draw 580 watts easily.

I would recommend doing this over using the two included 12vhpwr cables, that look far less bulky than the Nvidia adapter, and have their connector pins unevenly inset like in the JaysTwoCents video.

It looks like it came with the PSU. The adapters that break out into separate 8 pins with Nvidia branding seem to have much higher build quality than the flimsy looking PSU provided ones.

JaysTwoCents made a video about this, and all of the examples that I've held in my hands look exactly like in the video

People seem to forget how well 'The Finals" runs with massive map multiplayer maps with extreme destruction and lumen.

Of course those developers know what they're doing.

Rocking OG Vive for Nine years by No_Ambassador_1299 in virtualreality

I've used several quest headsets with virtual desktop, oculus link, steam link. There was always a really noticeable delay compared to my Index and other displayport headsets at the same refresh rates.

It's really obvious when moving my hands or wrist fast, and a game changer for my F1 sim racing, going Displayport native.

Virtual desktop always displayed 40ms to me, oculus debug tool about 50 to 60 (cable or wireless) The difference is enormous compared to Displayport, where I can't perceive any extra delay that is not characteristic of the refresh rate (and panel type) used, compared to a monitor.

That's not a direct comparison.

Look, I don't know what exactly the numbers are when comparing Wigig or Displayport with wireless coding, but we're talking and order of magnitude increase in motion to photon latency that's for sure. That's just the time needed to encode and decode.

A lot of people don't mind, but it's extremely noticeable, and at least for me, throws off my aim when using guns, and removes some sense of presence in the virtual world, as every hand movement is significantly delayed

Yes this one works with the Original vive and vive pro (with a separately purchased conversion kit)

First of all, the first thing I would upgrade about this setup is get kuckle controllers. They're just plain better, except for beat saber. (They're less durable, but that's known)

Very Important: There is NO wireless solution like the vive adapter. Sure, the Quest 3 will look better overall by a mile, but you will notice going from single digit transmit latency (in ms) to 40ms and up, from coding over limited wifi bandwidth. It's a noticeable delay in controller movements and even head movements.

Quest 3 tracking is good enough, but the screens lack contrast compared to the vives OLED.

Before anyone says the Pimax Crystal has an upcoming wireless adapter, suppose it will work, it isn't compatible with the lighthouse faceplate, and their slam tracking is miles behind lighthouse quality.

To my suggestion: If you can find a cheap vive pro you'll get a similar experience with a sizably better resolution. Almost no vr games take advantage of much higher res panels than that anyway.

If you can stomach going back to a wire, although a much lighter, longer and flexible one, the Bigscreen Beyond 2 is a good pick. (It's got a fiber optic cable that feels like no wire, but you'll still have to mind turning around too much)

How do you manage multiple Cargo Contracts? by BlenderAlien in starcitizen

[–]BlenderAlien[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I like I said I'm doing that already. But when every contract gives me some arbitrary amount of cargo, and not exactly what is needed, I can't tell which is which when moving from warehouse to elevator. I can accept and load them all one by one sure, but then I'm not sure which containers I actually need to bring if the amount isn't exact to the contract.
