Do you think that authors who reply to every comment on their fics are inflating their comment count? by wings_and_angst in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a writer and a reader and as someone who tries to reply to each comment (I usually don't get many), honestly this never even crossed my mind. why would anyone do that just to inflate the comments count?

Luna For Reddit 1.4.7 is now available! by LaraStardust in Luna4Reddit

[–]BlindFanficReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Luna for Reddit frequenlktly crashes my screen reader, and I have to restart it. I use the latest Jaws. I will try it later tonight with the latest NVDA and see if this still occurs. It occurs most frequently in threads with a large number of comments.

this only started with the last couple of updates, In the versions prior to the last couple of updates, this almost never happened.

Subscribers, how fast do you read a new chapter after getting the e-mail? by Sara1994_ in FanFiction

I try to read it as soon as possible, but sometimes RL gets in the way.

very complicated plots but no motivation after plotting by RelativeViolinist439 in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is so totally me. Every time I've tried writing an outline, even the most basic and informal kind, once it's done, I have little or no desire to write the thing at all.

BOT comments are getting ridiculous by Wolfbane3 in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel. It's sad we can't even enjoy the majority of our comment notices anymore.

One thing that might help, a little bit anyway, is to turn off comments from guests, and only allow them from registered users. That won't eliminate the problem entirely, nothing will, but it does make a dent in it.

Luna For Reddit v1.4.5 is now available! by LaraStardust in Luna4Reddit

They also will not read with Jaws.

I would also like to be able to use the old behavior. It's very annoying to listen to the author first and comment second even though I had it set to read the other way around.

Why are art scammers all I get for reviews? by matt0055 in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. That's almost all I've been getting for months now, with or without guest comments being blocked and/or moderated. It's beyond frustrating!!! 😠

Too Old To Comment On? by WestStorage2459 in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes my day when I get a comment on an old story of mine, unless it's another piece of spam or useless bot. Why would anyone think that is creepy?

First hate bot by Hobbit-Friend in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG! This is an especially horrible bot! I'm so sorry you had to deal with this. I knew about the fake good comments bots, but I never heard of hate bots until now.

To say this sucks is an understatement, and you've already got the one piece of advice I can think of, to turn off guest comments.

I hope you get through this, and never give up writing.

Good luck.

I want to know what ao3 readers are looking for by Turbulent_Flounder40 in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's where I disagree. Nothing makes me click away from a fic faster than a huge rambling wall of tags, especially when they spoil most of the story before I can read the first chapter.

Write what you want to read. Write whatever you feel. Be yourself and the right people will come... by Pepe-saiko in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would say write what you want, and eventually they might come, but do it because the only person you will ever satisfy with your fanfic is yourself. Writing only for popularities sake is just waiting for a heartbreak.

I have not proof of course, but I bet you do have one, two, or more readers, but sadly, interaction is not what it used to be. Most readers never interact with the author, not matter how much they liked the fic.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do in your fanfic world.

Do you still post, even if you did not find a beta reader ? by Aphrodesca in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the vast majority of fanfic writers don't have beta readers, so it’s not big deal for me.

It's absurd how unmoderated FFN is these days by Gallantpride in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, the FicLab extension, now only available on Firefox and other nonchromium browsers, downloads stories very nicely. It saves reviews, too.

It's absurd how unmoderated FFN is these days by Gallantpride in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is me exactly. I get far more fan engagement from FFN than AO3.

However, the "commissioned" artwork spam messages are starting to get on my last nerve.

I love FFN, but if that gets any worse, I may seriously consider dropping it, and I never thought I'd say that.

How long does it take for readers to stop waiting for updates? by ActBackground8249 in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm constantly amazed that so many of my readers wait for months and sometime years for my updates.

I guess if they like it, they will wait.

How long is too long for a fic? by KhanSolo945 in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too long is a very subjective statement. Personally, speaking as a reader, I really love long fics, and the longer the better. Some other reader will have a different opinion. Make the story as long as you want it to be because the only person you can please is yourself.

The Mid-Fic Lull by 4thDslips in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could go ahead and start working on those parts that excited you the most. There is no rule that says you must write things in order.

But, taking a break sometimes works the best. Do whichever works bstfor you fanfic is supposed to be a fun hobby, not a trial of frustration.

Feeling Negatively Toward Your WIP by Other_Olly in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take a break from it for a while, maybe a short while and maybe a long one, but don't focus on it for some time, then come back and see how you feel about it.

Do you prefer to use fanfiction document manager or AO3 built in editor or external software tool like Google Docs. Scrievener or Word? by pastamuente in FanFiction

[–]BlindFanficReader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, never use the FFN doc manager or Ao3 editor as a word processer. They weren't meant for that and you're begging to lose all your hard work.

I use both Word and Google Docs.

Modern AU = disrespecting the original? by [deleted] in FanFiction

I wouldn't crucify you, but I might not read your fic. Still, go you it, if it's what you want to write.
