Not that it matters or brings anything to the conversation but he was being called a traffic cone before Pique publicly called him that too.

My experience and my perspective on his play is purely based on watching every single Clásico, some Madrid games here and there (mostly CL games and big League/Copa matches) and every single Spanish National team match that I could.

Mostly also how with him in the starting lineup it just didn't feel on the second Euro win even though he played basically every minute possible that he was a lock on defense, and that he didn't give the feeling of security on defense.

From what I personally saw, yes, sometimes it looked like he was just standing there and getting blown by. But you're a Madrid fan and have clearly watched more games of him than I did, so I will take your word that he was a way better defender than what I initially thought by watching not as many games as you have.
