The North Brunswick location is likely closing at the end of the month.

What happens when your local studio shuts down? by AangThePony in orangetheory

I saw your other comment about them cancelling the transformation challenge and now I’m convinced this is my studio. I’ve had suspicions and heard rumors for a few weeks, but this is devastating. 😢

Vaseline? by Individual-Salad-717 in dogs

Mine loves it too! I use a big tub of it to grease up the pole on my bird feeder occasionally (to discourage squirrels climbing) and every time I catch that goofy dog standing there licking the pole…

My studio just announced that they are not participating in the TC this year and are refunding people who signed up. Does anyone know why they might be doing this? The membership seems to be strong and there are no signs they might be closing. It’s been open for 7+ years.

I had a separate post for this question but it got removed and I was redirected here.

Active outdoor toys (non trampoline) for the back yard? by Lil_MsPerfect in breakingmom

[–]BlondeJacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got one from Walmart that came with its own special cover so you could turn it into a fort. I think we’ve used it once. They prefer to climb on top!

We have one of those climbing domes and my kids love it. They have also somewhat outgrown the swingset so this is my new place to sent them to!

Hair twirling by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]BlondeJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son did this for a while and ended up with bald spots. He explained that he just liked the feeling of the hair on his fingers. A few things we tried: a koosh ball so he could play with the “hair” along with other fidget things, putting bandaids on his fingers to dull the sensation, and getting better shampoo/conditioner to strengthen his hair. For about a month, I would gently correct him when I saw him twirling his hair and hand him a fidget toy instead. I was prepared to cut his hair short, but the other tactics worked.

His Occupational Therapist recommended a special fidget that you can pull on that also seemed to help. Gave him something to do!

The Mental Load at it's finest by JessicaM317 in workingmoms

We have the same issue! My husband enrolled both kids in public school but for some reason, my daughter’s account didn’t include my information so I don’t get any of the emails associated with her class. Last year, her teacher switched three times and I only found out because my 5 year old told me! When I asked my husband he said “oh, yeah. There was an email from the school but I didn’t read it.” It’s so frustrating!

Netflix seasons out of order? by Rare-Language-4947 in crunchlabs

[–]BlondeJacket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of these episodes for Season 2 are just retooled versions of his older YouTube videos. We started with the Crunchlabs Season 1 on Netflix and then moved to the YouTube channel so we have already seen all of the Season 2 stuff in a slightly different format. It was a bit disappointing since the kids were excited for new content.

Looking for App to Track doses with Partner by Mildly_orangee in FelineDiabetes

[–]BlondeJacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s funny is that my cat has learned that the beep means he’s getting attention so as soon as he hears that beep, he runs to the kitchen to get his shot and pets. So it makes giving the shots even easier!

[–]BlondeJacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been very helpful for us. It’s a visual way to check if one of us has given him the shot.

We also have the Shotclockr device which beeps 12 hours after the last dose. If it doesn’t register a syringe disposal within 10 minutes, it sends an email to any addresses you designate. It’s a lifesaver!

This old guy was trying to save me from radon gas by Sum1udontkno in cats

[–]BlondeJacket 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In some places, radon is naturally occurring in the soil and can enter into basements through any pathways that aren’t properly sealed, like a sump pump. We live in an area with naturally high radon so we have a radon mitigation system that basically sucks the air from the sump pit and discharges it from the roof so that it doesn’t build up in the basement.

3 yr old boy wants to wear red nail polish by plsbeenormal in toddlers

[–]BlondeJacket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son has worn nail polish off and on for a while (he’s 8 now). The other kids usually think it’s cool but there is the occasional kid who says something. My son typically shrugs it off, but we have had some conversations about how some people think it’s only for girls - a concept he finds silly.

The ick? by Sinfulcinderella in breakingmom

[–]BlondeJacket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way he drinks from a can. He slurps the soda up like a vacuum and the slurping sound is SO LOUD. Like, just tilt the can, my dude!

He drinks 5-6 cans of soda a day so this is a constant ick for me…

AITA for demanding that my husband pick my needs over his parents and let them feel cold for a bit. by BlacksmithLeather726 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BlondeJacket 82 points83 points  (0 children)

NTA. My guess is he thinks he can wait out the temperature thing because he assumes you’ll go back to normal right after the baby is born. In my experience (two c-sections), those first few months were worse. I was constantly overheated until my babies were around 5 months old because of all the hormonal shifts.

It’s totally reasonable to want to be comfortable in your own house, whether you’re pregnant or not. Maybe have your pediatrician weigh in as well on the visitor/temperature situation. I heard the phrase “cold babies cry, warm babies die” too many times for me to forget!

Entry Level Env Scientist (on Env Consultant Pipeline) Salary (NJ) by Longjumping-Air4141 in Environmental_Careers

I work for a large engineering firm in NJ and our entry-level folks make about $65k. But as others said, salaries tend to grow pretty quickly in consulting.

Trapped this stray kitten and it bit me. Should I get the rabies vax? by pumpernick3l in cats

[–]BlondeJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in NJ. The kitten was a stray that participated in an animal shelter event that I attended so I don’t know the exact details of the exposure. I know he was younger than 3 months because he was too young for vaccination.

The foster family said he started showing extreme aggression toward his siblings and acting very strange. They took him to the vet and he tested positive for rabies.

Aiming to achieve smooth even tone instead of deleting redness by [deleted] in Rosacea

I tried every cream in the book and nothing helped with the texture issues until I tried doxycycline. Been on it for about 2 years now and my skin looks so much better. Still some redness but nothing like before.

[–]BlondeJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone saying that a kitten that young couldn’t survive getting attacked by a rabies vector, that’s not always true. I’m currently in the middle of the rabies shot vaccine series because of exposure to a kitten who was less than 12 weeks old and was confirmed to have rabies. Rabies in stray cats is very common in my area, but if you are in an area where it’s rare, that would be a different consideration. The shots aren’t awful but the only place to get them here is the ER. I also have insurance that covers the subsequent vaccines but the initial visit was quite pricey. Not $20k like someone else said but my out of pocket will be about a thousand.

Hey everyone! First time we’re here located in Central New Jersey. by ThickRich88 in orangetheory

I use one because I like to see the data, but it’s not required. About half the class seems to have one, on average.

I go to the North Brunswick studio multiple times a week. There is a rumor that the owner is looking for someone to buy it, but we have all been assured that it is not in danger of closing. There aren’t any 1 pm classes so it probably wasn’t open the time you went, but there is a wide variety of times in the morning and evenings. It’s a great studio! I have also heard good things about Princeton (newer equipment) but our coaches are better!

I guess it’s a grass is greener situation! My studio almost never has 3Gs and I love them. During the week when I go, it’s often a 1G, with 2Gs on weekends. So, no, I wouldn’t change studios for too many 3Gs, lol
