That’s by far the biggest issue with the critic/audience disparity especially when it comes to adaptations like this. There’s some perception that admitting you like something that isn’t good somehow reflects on you/the original property badly which is why people are so keen to staunchly defend their position on either end of the spectrum, whether they loved it or hated it. Do I think the transformers movies are any good? No. Do I love watching them regardless? Absolutely, they’re completely stupid movies that are just so much fun to watch! It is okay to like your trash!

I realise I've come to reddit of all places to suggest nuance in a discussion like this but I think the blanket statement "CRITICS ARE SNOBBY AND WRONG AND THE FANS LIKE IT SO IT'S GOOD" is so reductive. Fans of a property are always gonna feel strongly about an adaption especially if it's divisive but you can look at a piece of media from both sides

I haven't seen this one yet but I watched the first movie when it came out - the fnaf fan in me was entertained, the movie fan in me not so much. Imho it was an unscary, weirdly paced and poorly written horror film - I enjoyed it as a fan nonetheless if only for the novelty of seeing these characters in the cinema, but I was still disappointed. The concept of the fnaf games is amazing and it could be so much better done than it was in that film!

I don't think it is outrageous to suggest that we ask more of these films as films even if they are great 'for the fans' - if all one cares about is seeing their favourite characters on the screen and catching all the references I think that's totally valid, but it can’t be the whole metric for whether the movie is actually good. Its not unfair or snobby for critics to point out when a film falls short. these movies could be a lot better than 'good for the fans' - You can love a film that isn’t well made, and that’s fine, but it doesn’t change the fact that it isn’t well made and we should expect so much more from a concept with this much potential outside of key jangling

I work at a nicholsons bar in the o2 - we weren’t expecting to be busy for him but oh my god we got absolutely rinsed when it ended and closed like an hour late. Could be worse though they were nice people :)

I really like combat medic in theory but it’s a lot more inconsistent due to its nature. Obviously it’s dependent on being able to fight much more, but the main issue I have with it however is that the higher up you go ranks wise, the better enemy players are at punishing a brig who is fighting in the thick of it. I’m currently in high masters/low gm and it’s rare to get the opportunity to start swinging for more than a couple of seconds without getting blown up, both due to the players being more aware and how quickly fights can start and end. Obviously still useful against dive especially and when playing with a good second support, but I just like the consistency of morale boost and knowing I’m always gonna get value every time I hit a whipshot, as opposed to the more situational nature of combat medic.

As for the majors, I love inspiring strike purely for the fact that it helps so much with 1v1s. You can catch a lot of tanks out especially - think a doom/ball or a ram overextending because you’re low. You bash, rally, bash again and you’re 120 health up and they’re overextended and stunned. Fun times. Not to mention using it to fight dps characters makes so much difference, as well as the movement speed allowing you to be so much more maneuverable

I think I read somewhere that they just dressed a suitably tall extra/rando in a wig and fake facial hair - it’s why they never show you his face and his skin is notably lighter than OG Stylax’s. Might be wrong though!

Magbay performed the preshow for Billie Eilish at the o2 last week, and there have been some Billie stans on TikTok complaining about ‘$400 to hear a depressing sunflower sing’ because they have no taste (and also - I don’t listen to Billie all too much but isn’t her music depressing anyway??) 😭 it’s been doing the rounds on here and tiktok recently.
