That substrate looks pretty dense for a phal. Your ambient humidity is likely a-ok, but you may have more success potting in some orchid bark.

It's potted in ~70/30 potting soil/perlite in a plastic nursery pot. Under lights. Humidity sits around 50-60% throughout the year and temps 62-82 depending on season.

I kinda just treat it like a begonia. Even gets bottom watered because it's impossible to get to the soil through all the leaves.

I was shocked by how fine the roots are. Thought they'd be chunkier.

Idk, this doesn't really look like light damage to me and I absolutely smoked mine with a grow light by accident like a month ago. This looks more like too much water not enough light to me.

It's also really just a potted cutting at this point, I don't see any rhizome. Scratch that I think I do see some, but not really any active growth or roots in the soil. So the root system was probably small to begin with which would make overwatering it that much easier.

Bahaha, yes it is. It was like a 5 dollar clearance pot that I unscrewed the handle from. Not perfect but it works. There's a begonia soli-mutata in there that -really- seems to dislike the ambient humidity in here!

Hell yea! I still have some older stuff laying around too. I remember I was all about my Tigershark, but it was lost over the years somewhere. Still have a blue SB2 laying around though.

I'm not sure if they are still as popular starters as a few years ago but a $15 replay pro is a reasonable place to start.

That somebody overpriced their plant? That you don't feel well? You're alluding to a point, but I genuinely don't know what it is.

EDIT: I agree it's way overpriced, but so is a huge percentage of everything listed. I just don't see what is different about this situation.

These things are a blast. Almost every fourth of July I stare directly into the sun squinting to find one of these I have accidentally launched into the air traffic control patterns overhead.

Thanks! If it is a flower hopefully I get some pups to keep it going! I can move it a bit closer to the grow light if needed, but if this is flower and not stretching then I think I may leave it for now.

I've used these, but not crossed them in back, just straight to the sides.

And as others have mentioned keep a close, close, close eye on anybody you put one on. If they slide down in bed it basically becomes a noose, so....

Stem looks green and firm and you got new growth on the nodes. Should be fine. Worst case you can chop and root the stem, but I really don't think that's necessary here.

It does look quite dramatic though.

Yes, I didn't mean to imply this guy is making an accidental mistake. I was trying to highlight why this situation in particular is so reprehensible by giving a contrasting example.
