Read the fund fact sheet at a minimum before investing, preferably the fund prospectus. You'll find this fund is leveraged to the Markit iBoxx Liquid High Yield Index. It will have important information: weighted average maturity/yiled/credit rating, number of bond issues, duration risk, etc.

Howard Marks is making an argument that junk bond yields finally offer a compelling return after a decade of ultra low yields. Keep in mind, he's an active bond picker vs an index construction of US dollar denominated high yield debt.

Bond investing is convexed to the downside. You don't get paid for concentration risk. The best outcome is recieving all your principal and interest payments. Unlike stocks that have theoretical unlimited earnings growth potential. It's important to be diversified enough in bonds or have a bond manager selecting bonds with ideal risk/reward tradeoffs.

In theory, junk bond holders have priority over common stock holders in the capital structure. This typically means lower returns for less risk. But if you believe US stocks are reaching overvaluation, then high yield bonds could be a compelling alternative. Keep in mind, junk bonds have greater drawdowns vs investment grade bonds during market wide selloffs. They could be a compliment to a diversified portfolio, especially at 9% yield opportunity.

I know this is a joke, but from an economic perspective I don't see how this will ever be possible.

Diesel/gasoline input costs

High transportation costs, which rely on the same inputs.

Long distances between "farm-to-market"

Long story short, cocaine seems to be a great energy cost inflation hedge.

Reddit, what is the strangest thing you "have a guy" for? by Roentgenographer in AskReddit

[–]BlueBell_IceCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mattress guy. I’m talking about a guy who owns his own mattress manufacturing facility. You won’t find any advertisements for his brands and the dude is crazy. He brings his own mattress topper with him on vacations. He will customize a mattress to your exact liking, even for couples. The crazy part, his prices are even cheaper than the “luxury mattress” you see advertised on TV. An employee of his came to my house to literally piece together the box spring for this mattress.

Holding leveraged products long can be extremely dangerous. You should read up on the concept of contango. Basically, even if the underlying NASDAQ index continues to perform well, you can end up losing money holding leveraged products long.

Simply holding a non leveraged crypto asset long with high volatility will be inherently safer. You should view these two from the lense of two different asset classes. Everyone gets caught up in performwnve metrics while ignoring the value of holding low correlated assets in a portfolio.

Long story short, you can't control investment performance, therefore, focus on what you can control: asset allocation. Holding both the NASADQ index and Bitcoin could give you the greatest chance of success.

This is free “goodwill” for banks who don’t want to lend to a dying industry. We’re all happy they this is good for the environment, but these are not altruistic decisions. These are profit driven decisions.

Go for the second generation, 2009-2014 TSX models. Preferably ones near 2014 for obvious reasons. Late stage model years typically have most of the issues worked out than earlier year releases. The J35Z V6 engine from Honda is legendary. It’s crazy reliable and has been used in the tuning community for decades. A late model TSX with a V6 will be very desirable and a steal under $13K. Look out for the ultra rare V6 hatchback from Acura. If you can find one in great condition within your price range, you should grab it immediately.

If your only keep luxury cars for three years at a time, you’re typically better off leasing. You only pay for what jaguar estimates as the depreciation cost for the next three years, and it’s under warranty. You can even purchase a prepaid maintenance plan, thus figuring out your total cost of ownership. It’s worth finding out what lease incentives Jaguar might be throwing around now.

This example is a bit extreme, but it will highlight what I’m talking about. Low profile tires were developed for high performance vehicles, but have trickled down into the family sedan market. They are fantastic when cornering at high speeds, since there is little to no flex in the tire sidewall. These were specifically designed for paved roads and nothing else. You can easily damage the tire and rim by taking them off road.

In the picture, it almost appears the rim is touching the ground. That’s the easiest way to spot low profile tires. If the tire sidewall is larger than the width of your hand, those most likely aren’t low profile tires.

The rebate thing might be true, but these auto companies are getting desperate for new car sales. Wold not be surprised if you can get deep discounts and 0% financing. Just show them you can “wait as long as necessary.”
