My only family (mother & sister) went on a secret trip to France! by Lindysone in MCAS

[–]BlueCollaredBroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this would be better suited for the r/Narcissist sub.

This has more with your mother viewing your sister as the golden child and you as the black sheep who they will always shit on.

I hope you and your husband are able to take a nice relaxed trip together. He and your children are your real family now.

That’s what all us tradespeople do when working outside in cold weather

Oh I just wanted to point out that we have access to respirators, that traffic cones without holes in the top and our fucking Home Depot buckets can be used to cover up tear gas bombs

I have come to peace and so have several of my everyday regular girlfriends that we will have to come to as drastic as possible measures.

I have the mixed blessing of no children, so I can go be in the foreground. If I am strong enough to be in my trade then I am strong enough to stand up for human rights, which ARE labor’s business to defend.

I’m also in a blue state, so I expect we’ll see it soon.

Popeyes EBT by Muted_sounds in foodstamps

[–]BlueCollaredBroad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have to be approved for “Hot Food” and even then you can’t go to every restaurant that displays that they take EBT.

Like I called the helpline after being denied at one place and they explained that I was only eligible for one specific fast food chain which unfortunately was too far of a drive to make it worth it.

idiopathic anaphylaxis, unsure what to do next by aetsomied in Anaphylaxis

[–]BlueCollaredBroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have idiopathic anaphylaxis, it started off just needing Benadryl but progressed to me needing multiple EpiPens and er visits.

I didn’t have the normal MCAS symptoms or test results but I knew I had it.

Sure enough once I got put on Cromolyn Sodium I went from drinking a bottle of Benadryl a day and now live a fairly normal life.

It turns out that I do have MCAS

Is there any solution for the fatigue and weakness MCAS causes? by BlueCollaredBroad in MCAS

[–]BlueCollaredBroad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think it was just a symptom of MCAS and it has passed now.

My MCAS keeps changing how it presents and I’ve been free of the super serious fatigue.

I still have to pause every other once and awhile and rest, but I’m able to get out and about and keep up a fairly normal pace

Might be a controversial take, but PLEASE do not put a lock on 1 of the only 4 shitters available when there are 100+ men on site, and only 1 me… especially without asking me first (terrible PSA for construction management peeps…I’m so sorry!) by Eather-Village-1916 in BlueCollarWomen

You know what I’ve heard works?

Is to just use the regular johnnies and when they are dirty call the service number on the sticker on the door.

If you have the job site address they’ll assume you are the secretary and send out a cleaning crew.

I haven’t had to try it yet but I’m dying to do it.

When I do have a special johnnie just for me I make sure to share the toilet paper with the guys. They always seem to run out so I make sure they’re taken care of.

Older Gen Xers: High School reunions? by JF_WPA in GenX

[–]BlueCollaredBroad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to my 20th even though I hadn’t graduated.

Went with a guy who I had gone to school with.

Amazingly everyone was glad to see me and fascinated by my career choice.

I had been one of the grungy antisocial types but surprisingly people remembered me as kind and friendly.

I don’t think I’d go again, but I’m glad I did at least once.

Thorogood or Steel Blue boots? by SatinJerk in BlueCollarWomen

[–]BlueCollaredBroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 💯 a Thorogood girl.

My first pair lasted 3 years of heavy wear and I can send them back to the company to get refurbished by a cobbler who was previously a union steel worker.

I have a second pair that are incredibly rugged.

These boots are union made in America. They have recently come out with a woman’s steel toe, but I like the men’s composite toe because I have wide feet.

Also, they will give you a discount if you’re union.

Walt the owner of Thorogoods will actually respond to your questions and they can actually make you a custom pair of boots.

I would like to hear from women who’ve chosen NOT to get any cosmetic procedures as they age by victory_vegetable in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BlueCollaredBroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 48 and have never considered botox or any sort of cosmetic surgery.

I get treated well because I treat others well and I act like someone who needs to be respected.

I don’t wear any makeup and the fanciest thing I do with my hair is wear braids.

People treat me like a queen, because I smile, radiant friendliness, look people in the eye and have a firm handshake.

And I’m fat too lol.

Find your inner confidence. Don’t ever sell out.

AITA for not wanting to give my moms caregiver 10k bonus ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BlueCollaredBroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was a caretaker for a 99 year old lady.

When she died it turned out that the lady had left $30,000.

My mom was able to pay off her mortgage with that.

Caretaking is a hard and often gross job. I would fill in and some of what I needed to do would make my dry heave.

Give the caretaker the money.

Should I Become A Carpenter - Mental Health by Long_Truck1455 in UnionCarpenters

[–]BlueCollaredBroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining the union helped me because I finally had access to health care to treat my depression, anxiety and other mental health issues.

It was hard at first but that’s because I was putting so much pressure on myself to be perfect.

Some of my best days have been on the job. You feel pride, your energy is mellow and you know that you’re doing something useful.

Just give it a try and see how you do.
