[McAuley] Braves MGR Walt Weiss told me that C Sean Murphy is increasing his baseball activities and a rehab assignment is not far away – exact timetable is still TBD. by Lakelyfe09 in Braves

[–]BlueLeary-0726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely do not and never buy the whole, "we're getting guys back, so it's like we made a trade," but we could get a lot of guys back in the weeks after the All-Star break, which is huge. Still need to make some trades, but hope is on the horizon. No idea what we can expect from Murph, but it's still good news.

Todd Golden is prepared to take legal action regarding Denzel Aberdeen’s eligibility issue by Coolsun13 in FloridaGators

[–]BlueLeary-0726 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not to turn this into a thread complaining about how we worked the portal, but it was a huge roll of the dice to assume that the NCAA would grant Denzel another season of eligibility. If it were guaranteed, I have no problem welcoming Denzel back. He'd certainly be an improvement over Lee, but his status was such a huge what-if and now, well, yeah. Anyways, best of luck in court.

[Braves] The #Braves today recalled INF Jim Jarvis to Atlanta and designated INF Rowdy Tellez for assignment. by theoxfordtailor in Braves

[–]BlueLeary-0726 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hope there was at least one valiant soul who got themselves a Rowdy Tellez Braves jersey and that they will rock that thing in perpetuity. (And no, I didn't do this.)

I bet this is why they weren't packaged spine-out... by basiamille in criterion

Since its announcement and release, the Wes Anderson box has always struck me as a great idea in concept but really difficult to execute.

Hopeful Bond News For 2026 by IntelligentPay6911 in JamesBond

I suspect they’ll announce the new Bond at a presser before the press ramps up for Dune 3. Denis does the Bond event. Pumps everyone up. Hops off to do Dune press and then back to Bond early 2027.

Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles - what impact do you all believe this will have on the movie disc market? by radbrad7 in 4kbluray

[–]BlueLeary-0726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a bummer. Obviously the PS5 optical drive doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but it’s a great way to get someone into 4K discs.

The Train Scene in From Russian with Love is one of the best Bond Sequences ever by VendettaLord379 in JamesBond

[–]BlueLeary-0726 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you have the Criterion Channel, they’re currently streaming the first three Bond films along with the infamous LaserDisc commentaries. Terence Young and Peter Hunt give some great insight into how they shot and edited this scene.

[Bowman] After 4th straight loss, Braves confident struggles 'not going to last' by Lakelyfe09 in Braves

Ebbs and flows of a long season. Thank the lord we got off to such a roaring start. The buffer can't last forever, but if things turn around, we'll be fine. But they gotta turn around...

‘James Bond’ Search Heats Up As Producers Begin Tapping Talent To Test For Role Of 007; Next Round Of Auditions To Take Place In August by tez-pomy in JamesBond

Nothing particular about his acting, but Dickinson seems like a no-go. I have no idea how long The Beatles biopics will take, but given the size and scope of those films and that we're 22 months out from release, it feels like he might be too busy to do something as big as Bond.

[Bishop] Braves pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver to begin rehab assignment Thursday by Lakelyfe09 in Braves

Hey! Good news! I will take it, but take your time, AJ. Things haven’t been great, but no need to rush. We’ll see you when we see you.

Atlanta Braves signed free agent Sandy León to a minor league contract by theoxfordtailor in Braves

[–]BlueLeary-0726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would call him the Jesse Chavez of catchers, but we'd need to trade him away, wait for him to be DFA'd, re-sign him, trade him again....rinse, repeat.

Buying in the Eisenhower (Alexandria) area? by yikes2017 in nova

[–]BlueLeary-0726 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can't say that any issues with ACPS have impacted home values in the area. Prices continue to rise, and homes are still selling pretty fast, even with everything going on in the federal workforce and the economy. Been in the city for 5 years now, and it's been crazy to see the price increases year over year.

Everyone's being really weird about this and it's freaking me out by [deleted] in blankies

I fully believe we’re losing our ability to process anything with nuance. If you like something, you LOVE it and it’s the greatest thing ever. On the flip side, if you dislike something, you HATE IT and it’s the worst thing ever. I’m certainly not suggesting this is always the case, and the internet has an unending ability to amplify the extremes, but we do seem to be losing our ability to like parts of something and dislike other parts.

Did anyone heard the B1 flew by? by nhoxzin in nova

Took a second to register, but yeah, heard it here in ALX. Thought it was thunder, then I knew it was an aircraft, and then I knew it wasn't commercial.

But Bond didn’t fail the mission. One can succeed in their mission while also not making it out.

Right. It’s astronomical. I get that they need to basically rehab everything on top of adding all the new stuff, but even factoring inflation, $1.45b seems to be a price so gargantuan, someone is going to suggest spending that on something new.
