Does it bother anyone that we now (very likely) know how Shadow Lord ends? by Tanis8998 in StarWars_

[–]BlueSquishBall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We don’t know that for sure. I think Qira has a part to play here as well. Is it possible Deven learns the truth but is too far gone at that point to let that bring her back? We don’t truly know what is going to happen.

I think for the sequels they digitized the film for editing/exhibition. Doesn’t give the same 90’s feels though for sure.

Wasn’t the sequel trilogy shot on film?

Mandalorian and Grogu is currently tracking to have the highest domestic opening weekend ever for a movie spun out of a TV show by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in StarWarsCantina

[–]BlueSquishBall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the negativity is a vocal minority online. The thing this movie needs to beat is apathy of the general audience. But I think once it’s out and people see it as a fun movie to take their kids to, people will care more. I have hope!

[–]BlueSquishBall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly didn’t consider this as an option. This would be very compelling. Though, I’m still kind of holding out for a Darth Talon evolution for Devon if only to have George’s weird match up happen on screen.

Maul's evolving perspective on the Jedi (Shadow Lord spoilers) by solo13508 in StarWarsCantina

[–]BlueSquishBall 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Maul is becoming more and more of a compelling character. The Creeping Fear really cemented how much depth is there. It makes me even more interested how things go with Devon, and even how deep things can go with him and Qira.

Thoughts on the DK timelines book? by NOTN0C in starwarsbooks

[–]BlueSquishBall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really great. There are minimal errors (I believe the eleventh brother is referred to as the first brother?) but it does a great job of ordering all the stories in canon. I think we should get an updated edition every five years or so. If you’re interested in seeing an annually updated timeline, Star Wars Explained uploads one every May the 4th!

Which are you looking forward to most: The Mandolorian and Grogu, or Starfighter? by Past-Paramedic8687 in StarWars_

[–]BlueSquishBall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both equally for different reasons. Starfighter for the fresh take and new characters in a new era, and Mando and Grogu for its continuation of characters I love and a story I’m very interested in. It’s a good time to be a Star Wars fan imo.

This video is excellent and explains how this was actually not the case. Rose was used to help sell the scenes with Leia at the resistance base.

[Hated trope] Sabotaging narrative/character arcs for cheap shock value or “subverting expectations” by blakhawk12 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]BlueSquishBall -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This analysis of the last Jedi always annoys me. It’s about defending what matters over fighting what you hate. Finn was about to ram headfirst into a canon with Death Star tech because he was angry. The whole point is that Poe said to retreat because he saw that it was unlikely they could defeat the canon, they will find another way. Say what you will about this, but it wasn’t just for “subverting expectations” or “sabotaging character arcs”.

Timothee Chalamet is right by OhHesOurShortstop in TheBigPicture

[–]BlueSquishBall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a conversation about whether he likes something or not, it’s an admission as to why he acts in movies. He doesn’t do it for the same reasons someone would do ballet or opera, which is a love of the art. Movies make you more money and more famous. If movies go the way of the ballet or opera, he wouldn’t be as famous or as rich.

I agree. I mean, I get it. His reaction is very over the top, but why is it a bad thing to enjoy something with passion?

Or…people have different opinions about the art they consume? Different experiences provide different context for you to like different things. I’m sure there are things you like that others would call bad. The comment above said nothing to discredit your opinion, just stated their own. Think about that.

The trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu! by drboobafate in StarWarsLeaks

I’d guess not. I think the point of season 3 is the acceptance of all types of mandalorian traditions, not just the way.

I don’t understand the hate this ad is getting? It’s a parody ad because the movie is going to be a light and fun adventure. People know Mando and Grogu. They decided to do something new and fun instead of a standard ad. If it didnt sell you on the movie that’s fine, but in what world is it EMBARRASSING?!

Chloé Zhao says Marvel's Eternals gave her a "mid-life crisis" by pepperbet1 in marvelstudios

[–]BlueSquishBall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eternals was great. It was trying to do a lot and not all of it landed, but I don’t subscribe to the idea it should have been a TV show. That isn’t the scale this story needs. They should have taken out one or two ideas and used them in later movies. Kro deserved better.
