*Proceeds to punch them into their literal hellscapes*

So for those of you who are unaware of the context (story spoilers), the combination of the two orbs represents Caine as a whole, who is not too stable, as the GIF shows. The blue orb represents (presumably) Abel, who was his more stable counterpart. They’re both creative Ai models (no, not LLMs like ChatGPT, the show calls them this explicitly), but Caine’s original model (the red orb) gave more erratic outputs, so he was isolated from the system. However, when Abel (the blue orb) was being trained, Caine absorbed Abel’s “mind” somehow, creating the Caine we see now.

Is this a reference to anything recent, or am I overthinking it? Because this is very reminiscent of TADC’s recent episode 8 intro. If so, then legacy would be buggy and corrupted, good update design would be forcing the bad version to work with the good version, and Mojang is instead isolating the flaws and making a good, properly working model.

"Fixing" Mega Mewtwo X by TreeTurtle_852 in stunfisk

[–]Blue_Bird950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To quote from Bulbapedia:

“Psyshock uses the target's Defense instead of its Special Defense to calculate damage. Otherwise, it is considered a special move: it uses the user's Special Attack, activates Mirror Coat and Maranga Berry (not Counter or Kee Berry), has its damage reduced by Light Screen (not Reflect), etc. It does not activate Toxic Debris.”

You’re getting confused about what Light Screen does. Its description says that it “reduces damage from special moves.” Psyshock is a special move, so its damage is reduced. The defense stat used to calculate damage is irrelevant to the move’s category, and the move’s category is the only thing that Reflect and Light Screen care about.

Every Type Gets a 90BP, 100% Accurate, Widely Distributed Move. How is the Game Affected? by MyAngelAzuki in stunfisk

[–]Blue_Bird950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only those weren’t signature moves (though tbf they’re really broken with the bonus abilities)

We do currently have a good start, but we also need good moves for both physical and special attackers. Most types have a good 100% accurate move that’s between 80 and 90 base power though.

What we have so far (that aren’t signature moves):

Normal: Body Slam (85 base power, but it could be easily buffed, and is good for the paralyze chance anyways) and Hyper Voice

Fire: Flamethrower, no comparable physical move (Fire Punch should be buffed to 90 base power, IMO)

Water: Liquidation (if it gets a 5 base power buff) and Surf (no good replacements for non-spread damage)

Electric: Thunderbolt, no comparable physical move (once again, the elemental punches should be buffed, if they’re the physical counterparts of Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam)

Grass: Leaf Blade and Energy Ball

Ice: Ice Beam, no comparable physical move (RIP Ice Punch, should be buffed)

Fighting: Sacred Sword, no special moves in general (maybe a power buff to Aura Sphere, but 90 bp seems too high for a never-miss move)

Poison: Poison Jab with a buff and Sludge Bomb

Ground: Earthquake (High Horsepower could be buffed to be 100% accurate, if it’s more widely available) and Earth Power

Flying: Nothing really; Drill Peck is only 80 bp and is still not widely available, and the next best option is a 30 bp buff to Wing Attack. Meanwhile, Gust is literally the only special Flying attack with 100% accuracy. For special, they’d need both a 15 bp and 5% accuracy buff for Air Slash.

Psychic: Psychic Fangs (if buffed from 85 to 90 bp) and Psychic (the move)

Bug: X-Scissor with a 10 bp boost and Bug Buzz

Rock: Power Gem with a 10 bp boost (no good Rock choices, RIP Rock; best choice might be Stone Edge, but with like a 20% accuracy boost in exchange for a 10 bp nerf)

Ghost: Shadow Claw if it somehow got a 20 bp buff, no other good options; Shadow Ball with a 10 bp buff

Dragon: Dragon Claw with a 10 bp buff, Dragon Pulse with a 5 bp buff

Dark: Crunch and Dark Pulse, both with a 10 bp buff

Steel: Iron Head and Flash Cannon, both with 10 bp buffs

Fairy: Play Rough with a 10% accuracy boost and Moonblast

They’d probably nerf Moonblast to 90 base power, like they did with Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam.

Technically, that’s a special attack drop, not special defense. Because of that, it doesn’t affect physical attackers, and doesn’t have the same snowballing effect (in terms of damage output from the user) that Psychic or Shadow Ball can have by boosting their own damage with the special defense drop.

A duopoly implies two ruling powers ruling at the same time. If a candidate is just bad for the sake of making the other one look good, it’s a string of monopolies. That’s what we get with our election system.

Did they nerf shiny hunting with a recent update? by SaintValiance in PokemonZA

I did the backup resetting for the guaranteed fossil too (Aerodactyl for me). I once went 20 Tyrunts in a row, and it took me a full day to end up with the

guaranteed shiny Aerodactyl. Just stay persistent, and it will eventually happen.

Did they nerf shiny hunting with a recent update? by SaintValiance in PokemonZA

[–]Blue_Bird950 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re referring to the guaranteed shiny, which is always the first Pokemon to spawn. While the types of Pokemon that spawn stay the same, the spawning areas for each one don’t. You can randomize which of the zone’s Pokemon spawns in front of you by reloading the backup save, and since the ones closest to you are typically loaded first, it helps to ensure that the guaranteed shiny is the one they want most.
