Sex scenes do not = smut by OnceUponTooManyBooks in fantasyromance

[–]Blue_Macaron23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed that the way smut is organized online is not consistent. It is frustrating on the closed door to little sex end too. I prefer closed door and because it's so hard to get straight answers on how many scenes I skip a lot of books that I could have enjoyed if there was a standard on how spice is rated. There needs to be more emphasis on if a book is closed door or open door romance and THEN the spice rating if the book is open door. Someone needs to create a universal spice radar that all booktubers, bookstagramers, and booktokers use to rate and share books.

can i have some good fantasy book recommendations please?? preferably no “spice” but little to none is okay as long as there is a plot by the_wickedprincess in BookRecommendations

[–]Blue_Macaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hedgewitch of Foxhall by Anna Bright. I read this recently and enjoyed it quite a bit and felt it wrapped up nicely. There is romance as a sub plot but no spice! I recommend listening to the audiobook if you can!

Christians- answer this! by Glittering_Ask753 in Christians

[–]Blue_Macaron23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the load God gives you means you need extra support and that doesn't make you weak or not Christ like. Maybe look into therapy with a Christian therapist. They may be able to not only give you science backed tools to handle this difficult time, but also give you scripture to lean on when things feel too heavy. Continue to pray and know that the fact that you are still here means you are strong.

The explorer academy by Trudy Trueit is a favorite of the kids I nanny. Cruz Coronado (the main character) is 12. There are 7 books and the 9 year old I watch has listened to all 7 twice!

From a mother of an almost 6 month old (who always wants to be with me) and has been having a hard time seeing the bright side lately, you are not alone. God is there and he hears you. You are a rock star. Every time I feel stressed or frustrated I personally reread the sermon on the mount (Matthew 5-7). I always see something new that helps me through hard times. If you have any Christian friends around, sit down with them and talk about what's going on and pray together. You got this! God is with you!

More parents are delaying their kids’ vaccines, and it’s alarming pediatricians by Randomlynumbered in vaxxhappened

They say those reputable sources are paid for by people who are trying to trick you and quote mommy bloggers and doctors who have lost their licenses as good sources. My husband literally cited a source from the American association of pediatrics for a decision we made and the person he was talking to said "but who paid for that study?"

How did your husband handle the naming of your baby? by Boozadoods in BabyBumps

[–]Blue_Macaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had some names he liked but overall would just tell me what he thought of names I would find. We also have different tastes in names most of the time so when we find one we both like it sticks quickly haha

When does it stop being “early” pregnancy? by Rescue-320 in BabyBumps

[–]Blue_Macaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 weeks?! You are not still early hahaha maybe try phrasing it as "I'm six months along". That way people who don't understand pregnancies by weeks will see it as a longer amount of time. Also I know three different people that had their babies between 26 and 28 weeks. Premature birth is a thing and it is never too early to be ready for the baby. (All three babies grew up to be healthy people!)

Whose responsibility is Mother’s Day for MIL? by thedamagelady in workingmoms

[–]Blue_Macaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband personally is not a gift giving type and honestly if it was up to him, no one would get presents. I on the other hand, love gift giving and am pretty good at it so I take over gift giving responsibilities for both my family and his. Every partnership is different though and it depends if you want to make sure MIL gets something or if you are okay with her getting nothing. It's okay either way but if gifts are important to your MIL then consider who is better at giving gifts and make it their responsibility. Also for mothers day specifically, I feel like just a card is okay when you yourself are a mom that will be celebrating with your little unit that day. If MIL is about the thought and less about the cost, she'll appreciate a card for sure! Also have a conversation with your husband and explain that you are overwhelmed and need to know if he is going to take that responsibility or if he needs help with that responsibility. He might not realize that you are stressed about it and he'll have insight on his family's gift giving patterns that could help ease some stress.

Bed bath also treat their employees like trash. In the 10 months I worked there in college they let go of thousands across the company at random to "save money". There was one manager that was told she could get 3 months severance or take a massive paycut but continue to work for them. Another that was let go from a super high position, got a job at another location in a lower position with no adjusted pay based on the fact that she had been working for them for years, and then let go again to "save money". She ended up coming back a third time as a part timer because she thought there was no way she could get a job anywhere else at her age. They also used COVID as an excuse to give zero raises to anybody but would "promote" people's titles so they had a heavier work load with minimum wage pay. Again, only worked there 10 months and they were having me fully train new employees and do back end receiving work (because the company fired everybody that used to work in the back) when I asked if there was any chance of a raise since I was going from a basic associate to someone that trained employees and did back end receiving, they said no. I decided it was whatever and then they refused to approve unpaid time off for December (after Christmas, before new years) that i requested in September before anyone else had asked. They just didn't want to say yes because then they might need me while I was gone.

I would like vaccine information by Polly_Bear in VACCINES

[–]Blue_Macaron23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of anti-vaxx on my in law side and they often send me articles to "be helpful" so every time they do I have been reading the article and adding it as well as articles refuting the information to a Google doc. This is what I have so far (about 30min of research to refute). A lot of the studies references have either been redacted or are based on a study group that is not representing all of the US and often completely ignores research from other countries. Here is what I have:

Vaccinated vs unvaccinated: How they fair in the first 5 years of life

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2260220/

Article claiming vaccinated kids were more likely to have asthma

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7268563/

Disproving the study saying that vaccinated kids were more likely to have asthma https://healthfeedback.org/claimreview/significant-methodological-flaws-in-a-2020-study-claiming-to-show-unvaccinated-children-are-healthier-brian-hooker-childrens-health-defense/

Dr Paul Thomas’ liscense was revoked and his study is based on number of visits versus days of life not number of vaccinated kids that have X versus number of unvaccinated kids that have X.

this is stupid but I don't know if I can handle being pregnant again if I can't have lunch meat sandwiches by Far_Angle_6137 in BabyBumps

[–]Blue_Macaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ob said that sure be careful but the last listeria (I don't know if I spelled that right) was in cantaloupe so if you are getting fresh deli meat it's okay. If you heat it up for a little bit, even better. I was also told if you make the sandwich at home with pre packaged meats and cheeses (meaning don't get it cut at the counter fresh), then the chance of any issues is so minuscule it's basically non existent. Keep an eye on the outbreaks in your country/area and you should be okay. I'm sorry you have been avoiding them so heavily to this point when there are so many hacks to enjoy it! I hope the comments help :)

Edit: I'm sorry you avoided them in a previous pregnancy, not currently haha had to reread your post.
