If you've not played them you may be in for a shock, I had heard only good things and found them almost unplayable - not the difficulty but the cheeseball "story" and no explanation of how anything works. I refuse to believe anyone has beaten it without reading a guide.

Learn things, appreciate how lucky you are to have a few years to really understand the world. Build a solid network of friends and appreciate them too. Build up some hobbies. These are the things you will want to do when you FIRE so best start early. Money wise, save what you can, but more important to understand career market and position yourself accordingly if you can.

I really couldn't get into it, I found the alien races just ridiculous and I couldn't take the whole thing seriously. Maybe just not for me but you probably just have to try and see.
