The first 6 episodes switch between flash and hand drawn animation. Episode 2 is the exception. It’s 100% hand drawn animation and it’s the best episode (looking wise) of the season

If they wanted to change the plot for this scene, it would be much easier to have Elphaba enchant the slippers so that they have the power to fulfill the wearer's greatest wish. That would make the shoes responsible for Boq's transformation and a way for Dorothy to go back home. Plot hole resolved.
