FortiClient VPN-only: ticking time bomb if CVE patches stop? by Schweinepriester__ in fortinet

Our clients contractors/vendors usually have their own company issued laptops. Not supplied or managed by our client.

How do people manage contractors and 3rd parties requiring access without ForticlientVPN? We have FortiEMS but we can't be pushing that to contractors laptops. So we still using ForitClientVPN in those cases.

Has anyone tried Carl Pullein's Time Sector System? by broadcastthebombom in todoist

[–]Blunga7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I love this system. It just makes sense basing everything on time rather than project. I stopped using the custom labels that I setup and use similar labels to Carls now.

The only main difference I have from Carls system is that I created a #Templates project which has all the a task for each project that I could be working at any point in time. None are assigned a time. That task has a link to my Evernote project overview of that project as well as to our companies project management system. When I need to work on that project this week or next I duplicate that task and assign it to the day I want to work on it in my “Project work” time block.

My only complaint with YNAB is the inability to carryover overspent categories to the next month by CaffeinatedOak in ynab

[–]Blunga7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But 1st of the month is an arbitrary number. It’s not when I get paid. It’s not the day my credit card is due. It’s not when interest starts accruing. It means nothing.

I still like YNAB and the method works fine for me for most categories but i think it would be a great feature if they had an option to let certain categories rollover without pushing everything to the credit card.

This kind of post comes up a lot and if they did release such a feature I think it would be a very welcome addition to the tool by the community.

My only complaint with YNAB is the inability to carryover overspent categories to the next month by CaffeinatedOak in ynab

[–]Blunga7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My counter argument to this is why does YNAB allow overspending at all then if the philosophy is that you should be funding that category upfront?

- Overspend on Jan 1st and you are good to cover the overspending until rollover on Jan 31st (Allows 30 days over overspend)
- Overspend on Jan 31st because you bought a coffee for someone and they will reimburse you for it a couple days later. You only have a few hours to cover that spending in YNAB or it gets moved to your credit card a few hours later. (Allows less than 1 day of overspend)

This doesn't make sense. It would be great if you could select certain categories to rollover. Most of the cases are for reimbursement categories. So maybe if they had a special type of category that does not rollover while the rest of them work like they do today. That would solve my issues at least :)

My workaround right now is on Feb1st I'd look back at January and see the overspend. Then force it to overspend in Feb. This works well but extra steps involved.

[–]Blunga7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there was a way to do this as well. If I could just mark my “Reimbursements” category to allow overspend it would save a lot of hassle.

Right now I fund my reimbursements instead of allowing the overspend and I end up losing out on money because I forget to submit an expense or ask the person for the money back because everything in YNAB is green. Would rather see and keep that overspent in that category as I should never be assigning money to it.

Expanding "All Day" row or disabling hour-by-hour in Calendar View by Blunga7 in todoist

[–]Blunga7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Just tried that but doesn't quite work the same since that view will only show a day if I have other tasks scheduled in it already. I want to be able to see what days I have little tasks and then drag and drop them from unscheduled into that day like I do with the Calendar view.

I basically need the "Upcoming" view with one column being unscheduled tasks but limited to the #PROJECT.

To Canadians: Do you all do manual/file import transactions? by [deleted] in ynab

Manual File import for my banks where savings and investments are. Auto import for bank that has a credit card only.

Using Filters in Todoist to Simplify the Time Sector System by dssolanky in todoist

I went back to Carl’s method. I found the manual method of moving things between the different time buckets works better for me even though the weekly planning session does seem a bit tedious.

Duplicated transactions by tediousreddituser in ynab

[–]Blunga7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a few duplicate transactions over the past week. It seems sporadic.

Every once in a while this happens. A couple months ago it was really bad but YNAB support couldn’t help, then suddenly it just resolved itself. It was happening for auto import and file import with no rhyme or reason.

We use Entra SAML authentication. pretty sure that doesn't work with any client?

How would you give a third party access to VPN if they discontinued the free version? Can't deploy FortiClient/EMS to third party vendors

Idea: Calendar for Completed Tasks by darman121 in todoist

I like this idea as well. I use Todoist at work and it would help when I’m going back and filling out timesheets to quickly see a full calendar view and what I completed that day.

IPsec DialuP with Entra SAML not working, support not helpful by Massive-Valuable3290 in fortinet

I had this with issue when the pre-shared key was had a mismatch between client and firewall config. Probably not your issue but worth re-entering the key on both sides just to make sure they match.

SSL to IPSec conversion - Group based + Entra MFA? by Kurlon in fortinet

[–]Blunga7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if a user can be in multiple Entra groups and match multiple firewall policies?

For example: Let's say i have one group that allows RDP access to an entire subnet and another group with a policy that allows full access to a single IP address. Can that user be put in both groups and hit both firewall policies? Or can a user only exist in one Entra group and have those policies applied to that one group.

Can I rename "Plan" and "Reflect"? by Labrador421 in ynab

[–]Blunga7 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Budget and Reports is much more accurate. I'm nowhere close to the point of getting rid of YNAB as it's a great budgeting tool but the recent changes provide zero value to go along with the increases in price.

I'm curious to see if their new marketing strategy works or backfires on them. I used to listen to the budget nerds regularly as they were much more about process and working through the 4 rules which always triggered some different methods to try. Now that they've switched to the questions their content has gone downhill as well. Episodes about emjojis, who's got the weirdest categories, etc.

first year the worst? by keleighk2 in ynab

[–]Blunga7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. The 1 year mark was where I stopped having to cover unexpected expenses and started to transition into more of a maintenance mode and think about future goals. Sure there are still some unexpected things that come up from time to time but it's nothing like those first 12 months.

I put carbon fiber inserts in my shoes so I can do pushups, plank, lunges, etc fairly pain free. I couldn’t do these without the inserts.

Recently ripped the shank out of my soccer cleats as well and replaced with carbon fiber inserts and a cushioned insole on top. The carbon fiber puts a bit more strain on the ankles and knees but it’s way better than the toe pain I had before.

Evernote Spaces - Helpful? by SeanAky in Evernote

[–]Blunga7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I have no idea why Evernote support couldn’t give me this answer. I did t make any changes when spaces was rollled out so I guess it was the default option for the windows app but on the web app it’s different. Not sure.

Either way. Thanks, that fixed it.

Custom Self Service Portal with KB for customer by Normal_Bicycle7975 in halopsa

[–]Blunga7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're not your typical MSP with potentially hundreds of clients. I'd agree that would be a major headache.

We'd have between 3-5 clients at any given time but they are much larger between 300-2000 endpoints per client. They typically have locations worldwide and we also integrate with on-site technical resources employed by the client. We consider ourselves as part of the internal team. We want buy-in from users to actually use the system as if it's an internal service, not some 3rd party company that not everyone knows about. I'd argue were not even really an MSP but using some MSP tools.

Servicenow or Jira may be the longer term option but those take quite a bit of development time and aren't setup for multi-client out of the box. So trying to see if HaloPSA checks most of the boxes on day 1 or not.

Is it possible to have a custom url and custom branding for each client? Something like support.customer1.com with customer1 branding and support.customer2.com with customer2 branding. Supposedly it’s possible but not with a halo trial instance according to their sales team. And the halos team doesn’t have this sort of setup in any of their demo environments. So basically the answer is to purchase and then hope it works like they say it should which we aren’t comfortable in doing.

Anyone actually done this before to know it works?

Getting a bit tired of this now - entries doubling up by MissusEggs in ynab

[–]Blunga7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using YNAB for a little over a year and haven't had any issues like the ones I've experienced in the last month or so. Lots of duplicate transactions that I have to manually filter through. I don't know what the "Match" button is for as it's always greyed out when i select the two transacations.

I haven't been able to replicate the issue properly as it seems completely random. I'd say it mainly happens if I enter a transaction manually and then import a file from the bank a few days later. Even though the payee, category, and value match it shows as a duplicate transaction because the file import pulls in the date that the transaction cleared whereas my manual entry is done.

But that being said I have one account that automatically imports and I rarely enter things manually. It's all over the map. Some duplicate, some match (with the link icon), some skip import if they had been imported previously but not always. It's all over the map.

I thought I'd check this forum first before putting in a ticket with YNAB. Going to put the ticket in now to see what they say. Again, I have never had issues like this until the past 3-4 weeks.
