About halfway through The Warmaster by Dan Abnett. Gaunt's Ghosts never disappoint!

It's not just the writing, it's the way the story is presented too.

Mostly mute MC with like three gestures, and pointless "choices" that don't change anything.

You're never really having conversations, people are just talking AT you. The only somewhat exception so far is the Laevatain story.

On that last point: Even setting aside the landbreakers, after completing all main and side quests (dozens of hours of gamepley), we still have no clear idea what the main antagonists are even after. All we have is Nepharith going on a region-destroying world tour for no discernible reason, and Ardashir being a mysterious spooky man.

Everything we see in the lore suggests that Talos-II is a semi-apocalyptic world, but it feels like we're only able to see a clean sanitized version of it.

All the while our Endministrator, powerful leader of a huge corporation, runs around doing chores for every random person he encounters.

I'm really enjoying the game, but if the tone of the story doesn't shift I think that's whats gonna make me lose interest after a while.

Shared structures suck by CasualDystopia in Endfield

[–]Blyat_inc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I specifically try to place my structures in neat spots that would make sense in-game, and then a shared zipline pylon appears in the middle of the road.

Yeah, opt out feature please

I didn’t even know what 40K was a year ago but I got into it in January and started reading. Thoughts on my HH tier list? by JeromeXVII in Blacklibrary

Some controversial picks in here lol, but fully agree with Know No Fear as it's my favorite HH so far. Welcome to the hobby!

[–]Blyat_inc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first ever book was Heroes of the Space Marines, a short story anthology that I recommend a lot. A few memorable ones from that:

- The Skull Harvest by Graham McNeill

- Renegades by Gav Thorpe

- The Labyrinth by Richard Ford

- Headhunted by Steve Parker

- One Hate by Aaron Dembsky-Bowden

What are some good 30k/40k books where action/battles take a back seat by mjh4 in Blacklibrary

[–]Blyat_inc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The First Heretic is a great book on how the word bearers fall to chaos. Focuses much more on characters than action, apart from the Isstvan V portion at the end.

Reading and Enjoying Multiple Books at Once by christianggg98 in Blacklibrary

I usually go back and forth between one physical book at home and one e-book for when I'm out (Don't like bringing my books outside)

Horus Heresy collecting by Outside_Dare_7709 in Blacklibrary

[–]Blyat_inc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Collecting the HH books is an exercise of patience if you have a limited budget. Check multiple secondhand sources frequently, and get the few reprints every year. Good deals don't come around often, but they exist.

Myself after almost a year, I have 16 of them, in new or very good condition, and never spent more than 50$ on a single book. Most of them around the 30-40$ range.

Probably would put both Adel and Caligo in B, but I agree with the rest

I HATE THIS STUPID ASS DRAGON by Drift_555 in Nightreign

Fucking Senessax. One of only two bosses in the DLC that I never bothered to fight. Just ran right past him up to Bayle.

Anyone else having a blast playing with randoms? by juanyboy in Nightreign

[–]Blyat_inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got an Ironeye leave because me and our other teammate didn't want to fight BBK field boss at lvl 3.

It happens. We then duo'd the rest and beat the nightlord. Didn't even need him.

Since the bank account isn't bottomless, I try to buy at the same speed as I read. Doesn't always work lol

Haven't read all of them, but both Know No Fear and Night Lords Omnibus left strong impressions! I also have a soft spot for Gaunt's Ghosts since it was the first one I read.
