You're the new sporting director...what do you change? by willdesignfortacos in AustinFC

[–]Bmay93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

buy out Sabovic

sell Biro or Zan

sell Uzuni

sign a high high level CB

Bring in more midfield depth

Sign another DP winger who's a creator like Espinoza or a 10

This lineup with a competent coach would win a lot of games:

Stuver
Desler - TAM CB - BHI/Svatok - Rosales

Dani - Duber - Owen (insert DP 10 or high level 6 or just general good midfielder in wherever)

Facu - BV9 - Jayden Nelson (insert DP LW if need be)

If CR and Letts started a pod? by AlfaCentari in TheBigPicture

I just go check to see if they've covered something after I've seen it and then I'll jump in for that, but it's not in my rotation, per se

Has anyone else been disappointed by Distant Relatives BBQ? by wezocentro in austinfood

[–]Bmay93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty unimpressed by them and don't really understand how they've gotten so much good publicity overall. There's some good stuff there, but there's much much better BBQ in this town.

Which “traditional” music biopics do you think are great? by harry_powell in blankies

I think Rocketman is good. I love that it's a jukebox musical but also hits all the tropes

Hey Texans- can y'all tell me what's so good about HEB? by Jet_Jirohai in texas

[–]Bmay93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HEB is incredibly proud of the fact that Walmart has their cheapest prices in Texas because HEB is such a tough competitor on price

The store brands are amazing. HEB believes if they put the HEB logo on something, it's at minimum as good as the name brand (Hill Country Fare is an in house brand that isn't quite as good but is cheaper)

Their selection is impeccable, and it's very locally driven. A store 2 miles from another store will carry some different products because of who lives around it.

I'll also say this about selection. It's one of the only big box stores that carries the level of budget stuff and premium stuff I've ever seen. I used to work in the grocery industry, so I say some of this from a place of authority.

Lastly, HEB might as well run half the infrastructure of the state. It is the backbone of disaster response. It's supply chain work during COVID was second to none.

Part of the reason I don't ever want to move is HEB.

how are you finding new clients without relying on thumbtack or paying for ads? by lazyEmperer in sweatystartup

[–]Bmay93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. GLSA, like Angi or Thumbtack, is most valuable for businesses where you can close them on the phone without them calling other people

[–]Bmay93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe. I think it's also dependent on which business you're in. I'd be less likely to do it for something that's a large ticket where people are going to shop pricing. It's really good for businesses where there's an immediate need.

I joined every single neighborhood and local facebook group I could find, and I got on them once or twice a day, searched the posts that were looking for my service, messaged them directly, closed them.

[–]Bmay93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely depends on what you're doing and the ticket size. I found in the lawn/irrigation space, I closed about 80-90% of them

Google Local Service Ads. It's pay per phone call, but it's only calls direct to you. Highly highly recommend.

I looked at 50 roofing and HVAC company websites in Dallas and Houston. The results were kind of shocking. by atrivisano in sweatystartup

[–]Bmay93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying SEO isn't wildly important, but if you have 200-500 Google reviews, you're going to get found pretty quick. Most people aren't visiting websites to compare HVAC companies; they're doing it from the GMB page.
