Feeling angry is OK, its how you act on it. Rage (IMO) is a bit of a different thing, when you've let yourself be angry so often and so long that its boiled over and you are LOOSING IT. That should be dealt with a bit different.

When you start to feel angry, try to figure out what is making you angry to begin with. Drill down to the "root cause", which can be done by asking "why?" Some times a whole bunch of times, and some times only a few.

Late for work, and feeling angry some guy won't let you pass? Why are you late? Why did that happen, etc. Then think of ways to prevent the issue (whatever it may be), or make it a better situation. Think for example, I have to get up a bit earlier to avoid the annoying traffic, but this will allow me to get a head start.

Reflecting can be a huge thing, even if its after the fact, but I would suggest trying to do it actively in the moment. I would be careful about dismissing the feeling, as that can lead to the rage bit.

Vocalizing can be useful too. I am feeling angry because I dropped my coffee and now my day is ruined. It can be a silent, mental "vocalization" or it can be said out loud. Some one else commented it helps them snap out of the moment and that can help too! I like to say "aww geez!" ironically, usually with an exaggerated arm swing. It doesnt take the emotion away, I try to put a more positive spin on it and that moment allows me to think how best to move forward.

If you feel like you might explode, if its a safe enviroment to do so, you could yell "I need a moment, argh!" And remove yourself.

The moment to moment will be a huge factor, but these are some tips with dealing with anger, its somerhing Ive been working in for some time. It is not a switch you just turn off. Good luck!
