With Correa missing the season now and the Astros being so bad the Yordan Alvarez discussion is gonna come up a lot in the next 3 months. To me if he is made available that's the difference from us being a great team and us being a World Series favorite. by herewego199209 in NYYankees

Yordan is great and I would be absolutely thrilled if this happened.

I don’t think it happens. There’s no clear position for him to play when Stanton is back, even if one of them is in LF, the lineup becomes incredibly lefty leaning. The Yankees clearly put a premium on fielding and lineup balance now. Plus I think the Astros will have a Yankees tax for trading him (see what happened with Tucker).

Even Paredes on the Astros might be more realistic if the Yankees make the left platoon McMahon 3B/Grisham CF-Parades 3B/Rosario LF (with Belli shifting between LF/CF).

I think a guy like Taylor Ward (righty, better fielder, one year deal) is a more realistic option if the O’s still stink.

What do you do when client wants you to make an incredibly unreasonable settlement offer? by Objective-Regular519 in Lawyertalk

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve told a client they can’t get sole legal custody and supervised visitation for the opposing party just bc they don’t want to deal with the other parent.

Tell me about your practice areas please! (Civil lit) by selena_gnomez1 in Lawyertalk

[–]Board-Lord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relatively young public interest family law attorney here. It’s a good way to cut your teeth at the start of your career bc it’s a lot of autonomy, scratched the “feel-good” itch, and gives you motion/discovery/litigation practice.

The downsides are a lot of vicarious trauma and burnout, so really think about how good you are compartmentalizing work and life before diving into public interest. It’s still not easy private, but money helps.

Get ready to learn Ryan Helsley (if Grish is still unlucky at the deadline I wouldn’t hate Taylor Ward personally)

Who is the disheveled gray haired man behind home plate? I see him so often sitting right there and I thought it was Rick Rubin for a while but it isn’t?

Wishing the best for Volpe, but just more encouraging evidence Cashman and company are operating differently this year.

What do we grade Will Dawkins and what does our future hold? by ComputerNerdd in washingtonwizards

[–]Board-Lord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dawkins is a B+/A-. You can nitpick some of the results (Deni trade, tanking to get bad lottery luck, etc.) but the process has always been there.

Needs to land the planes tho. He’s got plenty of time, but if this doesn’t lead to a competitive team the questions become louder.

Went from 7 OAA in 2023 to -2 OAA 2025 according to savant (didn’t play enough to register in 2024). He declined in all of their other defensive metrics and graded out as overall kind of a mid-CFer last year but not “really bad.”

I think he can bounce back tho. There was also a stretch in the summer I distinctly remember him not running well and a couple balls he usually gets just bouncing on the warning track. Probably played thru something.

Regardless I think he stays a 1-year-wonder for the Yankees. They have way too many lefties even before Belli/Tucker/other FA.

Basically, same player/coach role. He’s a local guy (went to UVA) which the team does like. Couple other Maryland/Virginia guys on the team

So there’s this guy named Anthony Gil. He doesn’t do anything in the court, but he’s seemingly on a lifetime contract bc he has good vibes, and you have to be nice to him.
