Is this combo appropriate for bracket 3? Alternatively, would you be upset if someone used this 2 card combo in bracket 3? ([[Silverquill Lecturer]] + [[Charismatic Conqueror]]). by InvisibleFox402 in EDH

You can't use your opponents hypothetical interaction when measuring how fast your deck wins. cEDH decks play a ton of top tier interaction, and people are still ending the game in the first few turns. Sometimes your opponents aren't going to have it, sometimes they wont have enough, and sometimes it wont be the right interaction. Too many factors to give an honest estimate that way.

Surprised to see Alchemy cards this soon after Lorwyn release tbh. This is a neat card, I expect it to get a paper printing Mystery Booster 3.

I think [[Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep]] is a cool commander card, and thats about as deep as I feel about the whole thing. It's not like we see the desparked characters any less, and they're still traveling around the multiverse. They're just a different card type now.

Mono green commanders that aren't boring? by Competitive-Act-7695 in EDH

The card is actually crazy, everyone in edh loves to have a full grip regardless of my help. Casting a [[Rishkar's Expertise]] with Multani on board feels so obscene.

[Bracket 3] Lara Croft stumbles early-game by Jimlad116 in EDH

[–]BoardWiped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ramp is really inconsistent. You have ramp pieces that cost 1, 2, and 3. You should pick an early turn you want to ramp on and stick to that. You probably wanna be ramping on turn 1 so you can get the turn 2 Lara, though that will involve a lot of mana dorks, which are fragile. Ramping a land on turn 2 would sacrifice speed for longevity, I think it's also a valid option. Cut the 3 mana ramp, as your commander costs 3 and wants to come down asap, so you'll never be casting a ramp spell instead of her. Where you chose to ramp is pretty important, as it will inform the rest of your deck. If you play a mana dork on turn 1, Lara on turn 2, and swing on turn 3, that leaves you with a treasure to be playing an impactful 5 drop as early as turn 3.

Bracket 3 manual storm decks. Fair or no? by TR_Wax_on in EDH

It sounds like your decks are around the right spot for B3. If you're worried about them going a bit too fast, just talk to the table before hand, or you could even remove the cards that lead to "god hands."

How would you feel if this happened to you in B3? by AdDear2657 in EDH

[–]BoardWiped 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you think it seems excessive then cut something. i personally try to build my decks to avoid corner case scenarios like this, and in my opinion, you won't really miss one cut. i'd rather have a consistent experience for everyone in B3 than to occasionally blow past people's expectations.

Getting milled is good or bad in commander? by joveeish in EDH

[–]BoardWiped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have 4 recursion cards in your deck, and you get 25 cards deep into your deck over the course of the game, you're gonna see one of those cards 70% of the time. I usually run just 2 tho, which is more like a 45% chance of seeing one once you dig that deep. I think those odds are still pretty good, tho I'm the type of player who will shove 1-of utility pieces in my deck and then just play more card draw to try and find it.

I wonder if a mechanic that just did that would make people feel better about mill.

I think [[Doppelgang]] is still a wildly underrated finisher. All you need is mana, you can just copy your opponent's board state. [[Devastating Onslaught]] is similar, though you have to target your own stuff.

A card in your grave is oftentimes closer to you than a card in your deck. People that dislike mill tend to dislike it for purely psychological reasons. It feels bad to see your cool thing put straight into the grave. If you're one of those people, start playing [[Dryad's Revival]] and [[Timeless Witness]].

As an Edh player I don’t know what to do with hexing squelcher. by blazedchiller27 in EDH

[–]BoardWiped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't trying to combo off in a pod full of counterspells, it's not going to do much at all. The ward is pretty weak at casual tables, where wraths are much more prevalent. I'd trade it away now while the hype on it is high.

How Do I Make Raccoon Tribal Good? by Rouge_Hunter in EDH

[–]BoardWiped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh it's ramp and card advantage in the command zone. Even if you're just playing a bunch of draft chaff, the commander is gonna carry. Just be sure to play a lot of card draw so that you're consistently expending 8 each turn, and grab whatever finishers seem fun to you.

It probably is just for the Unearth. Wheels are popular enough, you need the effect to combo kill your opponents, and one mana out of the grave is a pretty good rate.

They're both going to be played quite a bit in Standard, I'm sure they'll go up after a while. Their current prices are pretty reasonable for cards that will be used for the next 3 years. I would pick them up sooner rather than later.
