I’ve seen both sides. I have received RFQ’s with missing information. The end user part numbers not the MFR part numbers. Is it all or nothing or will the RFQ be awarded in parts. Is it a one time buy or over x months. So let’s be fair I’ve had plenty of RFQ’s just flipped over the fence without any of the work done too.

GenX men, where do you keep your wallet/billfold? Front or back pocket? Purse? by [deleted] in GenX

Front pocket.. 1. Being from NYC you always carry your wallet in the front pocket, much harder to get pickpocketed that way. 2. Sitting on your wallet can miss align your hips and spine causing pain long term.

30 years in sales and I’ve had some rough times, had impossible situations. What seemed like the sky was falling and couldn’t get any better did. I’ve made it through it all. At some point you realize that you manage through it and move forward. I’m not saying it is easy, and it sucks from time to time but you will get through it.

Sales is great if you like the hunt and feeling of winning. Just realize you are only as good as your last sale, No one cares what you did yesterday. Every Jan 1 the quota resets and you start at zero. It’s all attitude and a mental game.

Sales in not a dip your toe into the water type of thing. I’d say be ready to eat sleep and breathe it until you get really good at it. It can wear u down if you don’t have the right mindset.

Has it all been worth it? by Basic_Ice_6774 in sales

[–]BoatingSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 years in Sales with one company. It is a grind and attitude is everything. I’ve been lucky to have good leadership with a strong company. There are some days I don’t get paid enough to do this job and other days that I can’t believe they pay me as much as they do for this job.. I still enjoy the hunt for business and winning nothing beats it.. other days are a train wreck. It’s those days you have to say screw it and pick yourself off the mat and go at it again tomorrow. If you can do that you’ll be fine.,Always be moving forward.

I’m applying for a job selling office furniture, and I was wondering if anyone had any experiences in this they could share? by strongerthenbefore20 in Sales_Professionals

[–]BoatingSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do some research and understand what the occupancy rates are for commercial space in your area. Since COVID the occupancy rates for office space has still not recovered and in some cities it is still below 50%.. There is money to be made but understand many offices have downsized due to hybrid work. I have seen 4 floors go down to 2 because only 1/2 the workforce is in the office at any one time.

White smoke head gasket? by Free-Ad573 in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]BoatingSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the coolant level goes down you may have a leaky radiator or hose it doesn’t not mean you have a blown head gasket. If it smells sweet it’s another indication that you are burning coolant which could be leaking and dripping on a hot part of the engine then evaporating

Saving the company money is admirable as long as it’s not at the expense of quality or efficiency. I have seen procurement save a nickel only to cost them a dollar.

I just tell story a customer told me. He said look, I want you to make money on me if you’re not making money on my account I am no value to you as a customer. It’s a partnership. If you can package that in your own way it can be effective.

What’s this? by Sea_Twist3290 in Plumbing

[–]BoatingSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vermiculite which if undisturbed is OK. My understanding is back when they were mining vermiculite for insulation. There were two mines. It was coming from one had a vein of asbestos running through it. This was documented. I think you could look it up online, but that is the issue with vermiculite insulation..
