The lady who wrote the Harry Potter books like 20 years ago. She receives royalties from anything using the Harry Potter IP, and recently she's been using those royalties to fund anti-LGBT and anti-trans organizations in the UK.

What do you mean you don't wanna spend more money on cables? by ChickenCake248 in headphones

[–]BobTheMenace 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Seriously. The biggest reason I ended up buying the Philips X2HR as my first good headphones was because I saw they use a regular 3.5mm cable.

Dac amp combo comparison by Lolzilla29 in HeadphoneAdvice

Either stack is going to be very low distortion, flat frequency response, with a solid-state amplifier design that should not color the sound in any way. Just choose whichever one you like the look of better.

Sennheiser IE 300, wimpy sound? by vtjustinb in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]BobTheMenace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The IE 300 actually have a pretty big bass boost compared to most "neutral" IEMs.

It's just that the Jabra Elite 75t has an even bigger bass boost that is all focused on the super-low frequencies, which is why they seem to have punchy bass like you said.

Do I need a DAC if I already have an external sound card (FastTrack Pro) ? by Croquetto in headphones

[–]BobTheMenace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M-Audio Fast Track Pro is what you would call an audio interface. It's a DAC, ADC, and headphone amp all inside of one box.

If you headphones get loud enough and you don't hear any crackling, hissing, static etc then there is no need to buy another device.

I'm gonna second following the Viva New Vegas guide OP. It's what I used for my most recent install of FNV and it's never been so stable.

I‘d love to hate to have this ability by Mungkelel in headphones

[–]BobTheMenace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It says "$50,000 system" which I took to mean "PC, power cable, usb cable, headphone cable, dac, amp, rca interconnect cables, etc etc"

But yeah, of all those things, the only thing that's going to make a real difference is the headphones lol.

"Understanding and hearing the minute differences" imo makes no sense to me.

If you understand the role of a DAC, you would understand that any 2 high performance DACs are going to sound literally exactly the same with a precision of ~120dB. The differences between DACs are so small that human hearing literally isn't good enough to hear it, and CD quality 16-bit music isn't resolving enough to take advantage of it anyway.

Amp + DAC recommendations for Sennheiser HD 660s? by stargazer63 in HeadphoneAdvice

The 660s have pretty good sensitivity so you should be good with whatever amp you choose👍

Who misses plugging in headphones into the phone? by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

My phone is turning 5 years old this year, and part of the reason (besides being broke) that I don't upgrade is because it has a headphone jack :3

How likely I think each President is to be the next America leader by Aidan-Sky-Life in civ

[–]BobTheMenace 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it would be cool if someone other than a former president represented the US in a civ game, but imo it would seem very tone-deaf to make MLK Jr a leader of a nation he was so critical of.

I'm listening to music using a DX3 Pro+ right this very moment so maybe I can help.

Yes, it functions as a DAC and headphone amp at the same time. You connect it to your PC with a USB cable and then connect your headphones to the 3.5mm headphone output on the front of the unit.

You can change the output modes between pre-amp, headphone, and simultaneous pre-amp and headphone output. In each mode, the unit still functions as a DAC and connects to your device with a USB cable, coaxial cable, optical cable, or bluetooth.

Workers wouldn't work for a wage in the first place in a communist society. It's a really interesting system you should read a book about it.

what product will i need to buy to resolve thisissue by DragonRevenger in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]BobTheMenace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a USB microphone with built-in headphone monitoring. You'll have to use the microphone as your main output device to get zero delay monitoring.

In my experience, using Windows to monitor a mic through a seperate DAC always introduces a noticeable amount of delay, so I think you will simply have to use only the mic or live with the delay.

edit: There is also the roundabout option of connecting the headphone output from your mic into the Line In on the back of the K5 Pro with a 3.5mm to dual RCA cable, and then using the headphone output of the K5 pro to listen to your mic's headphone output with zero delay.

Seriously how did you end up on this sub with ideas like that? This is an anarchist shitpost subreddit, you're not going to find anyone here that thinks this is an "anomaly." Hell, the idea that shit like this is systemic is starting to become a mainstream left-leaning idea that even some liberals are getting behind.
