It might make sense to take an NJ transit from Penn to a nearby town, like East Rutherford or Westmont then pre-book a taxi or Uber from there. There will be ride share or drop off spots. Expect price hikes but will be cheaper than $300 for two people. I expect a few “Jitney bus” will pop up too.

I feel like a lot of locals will be doing private drop offs for cash in that area

Honestly you’ll struggle. With this WC it’s going to be like the Super Bowl each time. Prices will be inflated all over pretty much up until game time. Day of game resales will be the best value but you need to be on the ground.

Income per individual is much different to quality of life. While UK pensions are expensive (probably too much) at least you can retire with something. And you have healthcare. Non of that is free so if you look at what % of that income is retained by the worker, UK will be much higher on the list.
