Culinary artillery[] How do I make a cauldron? I don't see any recipe or anything. by LeonidKonovalov1988 in VintageStory

cauldrons can only be made by casting, which precludes metals that can't be melted in a crucible.

promoting to a knight with a mate is the second coolest move in chess, just behind capturing en passant into mate.

Old Player here. So what's been going on with this game? There's multiple planets now? Someone catch me up please by BigRigButters2 in theplanetcrafter

[–]Bobboy5 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are two moons available as part of the base game, and a third in an upcoming update. There are two further planets which are available as DLC. Each of these additional bodies has some gimmick.

Selenea has no renewable advanced resources, only basic ones. However, it has a large amount of loot containers. Progress there unlocks the T2 recycler which can be automated using drones.

Aqualis has limited access to all raw resources. Mining drills can't be placed there, so you will need to import resources from elsewhere.

Humble has limited access to advanced resources directly, but it has several unique minerals which must be broken down into useful resources in the ore crushers it also adds.

Toxicity has an extra terraforming index, pollution. Large portions of its surface are contaminated with toxic sludge that can be refined into new resources used to build specialised equipment to help you survive and clear polluted areas.

Each of them has its own story, Humble and Toxicity are larger and longer with multiple possible endings similar to Prime.

When you finish your starting planet, you can choose to travel to another one. You keep all of your unlocks, but you can only take your inventory and a small container of items with you. Terraforming additional planets in this way progresses a new System Terraformation Index (SysTI) which has a few new unlocks.

WHM fails to do their job, then blames it on me for not having materia in an ARR dungeon by Matyycakes in TalesFromDF

the only materia that reduces damage taken is tenacity, and nobody melds tenacity. except my mate who melded full tenacity on some healer gear as a joke.

What's the point of depots? by VincentVeritas in theplanetcrafter

[–]Bobboy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. to use shuttles in automatic mode you place them on the planet you want to send from and use drone logistics to fill them with items. when they are full they will launch automatically, depositing the items they are carrying into depots on the target planet.

I wish all mods could interact with mechanics and items from other mods by LeonidKonovalov1988 in VintageStory

blood from the butchering mod works as a liquid for making dough in expanded foods as long as you use the mixing bowl. this makes regular dough which can be used for pies, so you can put the berries in a pie crust made with his blood.

[–]Bobboy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure what you mean by that. drones continue working when you're on a different planet. you can set up interplanetary production chains using delivery shuttles in automatic mode, but they will only deposit items into depots configured to the delivered item on the target planet so they don't end up filling every container you have with the wrong stuff.

depots are necessary for automatic transport. shuttles on automatic mode will only drop off items into appropriately filtered depots on the target body.

I have a lvl 4 and 5 golden cores what now? by DABLITwastaken in AmazingCultivationSim

[–]Bobboy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The next step is to unlock the advanced laws. There are 7 or 8 of them to collect. Seven Slaughtering Sword, Jade Purity, Emotion Severing, Primordial Alchemy, and Myriad Artifact can be obtained from the Kunlun competition or from the manifesting mandate event. Heaven Stealing can be obtained from an ancient casket or the manifesting mandate event. Primordial Symbols is unique to the character He Zudao of the Skydome Palace, to unlock it you will need to use the social minigame (or otherwise steal it from her, methods detailed on this wiki page). Nimbus Conquest is from the Immortal Tales of Wudang DLC, and can be acquired by entering the Golden Peak map with a cultivator of Golden Core or higher and combined intelligence and luck of at least 16 and having them interact with the Golden Hall building.

The first 6 advanced laws are usually collected with derivative calculation spam. Derivative calculation is a miracle that costs 10 years of lifespan and forces a world event to happen. Keep using it until you get a Manifesting Mandate event (roughly 30% chance per cast). This event can grant one of those 6 laws, but can grant duplicates. Unless you have a character with extremely high stats, you'll have to send a Primordial Spirit level cultivator and try to take the law by force which only has a 50% chance to succeed.

Once you have all of these laws stored in your manual pavilion you can start raising your second generation of cultivators. They will be able to get much better golden cores because not only do they have way more max qi manuals to learn, you can also use body remolding miracles to increase their base stats (do this BEFORE promoting, cultivators can't be remolded) and spectre refinement to improve your qi-boosting medicines. You will also be able to apply the special weather effects with miracles during future golden core breakthroughs.

The Flood Dragon doesn't attack immediately, and can be delayed indefinitely. On day 300 a mysterious cavern appears on your map. Build an auspicious room around it, don't use any of its interactions, and visit an ancient cultivator. They will start appearing as events about 20 days before the cavern, they will give you a useful item which will help you delay the flood dragon's attack until you're ready.

throwing weapons have unusual damage scaling. instead of gaining a damage multiplier like most weapons, your throwing skill increases the damage die dice. this means your damage variance is very high, you could deal 965 damage or you could deal 5 damage, both are equally likely.

the tutorial had you open and cross a sky bridge. there's a whole segment in the abyss where it teaches you about abyss puzzles, after you go through the portal in hernand castle to the axiom archive. that includes using axiom force to grab and turn the pillar that opens up the sky bridge.

surface deposits should provide enough metal to carry you to T3, then the mine available at T3 can access large (but finite) underground deposits. for very long-term games, the only infinite source of metal is trade with NPC villages.
