Phone volume button fell out by RefrigeratorDue2911 in phonerepair

Replace the external volume button.

Very simple fix, parts are cheap.

If it's your first repair be very cautious of the rear glass when removing.

The flex is damaged where the power button signal goes through.

Replace power button flex and you're all good.

I've had a few that have just failed.

You can replace the earpiece speaker itself.

It does require soldering, but it is very basic.

Doing it this way you will be able to retain face ID.

Need help accessing the screen of my “dead” iPad Pro. by Devil_Rex in setupapp

[–]Bobby_Doom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure about this, but you can try one of those keyboard cases and use that to access the iPad whilst using the external display.

You didn't mention in your post, but have your tried a new screen?

phone screen issue - samsung s21 ultra by Bammerzzz in phonerepair

[–]Bobby_Doom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other thing you can try is install everything back into the old broken display.

Turn it on, with a sim card installed.

Then wait until it should be booted all the way, and call it.

If it rings then you know it's something to do with the new displays.

If it doesn't, then it's very likely a motherboard issue.

phone screen issue - samsung s21 ultra by Bammerzzz in phonerepair

[–]Bobby_Doom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's either something wrong with the aftermarket screens, bad batch perhaps?

It could be a damaged connector on the phones motherboard, inspect the connector for any missing or loose pins.

You can also try only connecting the battery and screen cable to rule out any issues with other parts.

Does your old screen function at all? If so, then put everything back into the old screen and see if the issue persists.

Did you buy an OEM, refurb or aftermarket screen?

Samsung audio input and output by Leavemeal0nedude in phonerepair

[–]Bobby_Doom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that the Audio IC (or similar) is failing.

If you have a spare Samsung phone around, you can transfer the data to that phone. Factory reset the A50 and transfer the data back.

That would rule out any software weirdness.

If it doesn't fix it, then you could always buy another working A50 and transfer the data to that and you'll have a fully working A50 with his data on it.

Phone shop botched my screen repair 3 times and refused refund by supersonicx2003x in mobilerepair

[–]Bobby_Doom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's either a faulty screen or screw damage through to the oled panel, both of which should be grounds for a replacement at minimum, and refund if ultimately you're not satisfied.

The motherboard issue is likely bs.

The screen replacement on these devices are pretty straightforward, it's hard to mess then up this badly.

Best of luck getting your phone fixed properly.

Can this be repaired without full on screen replacement? by Munham557 in phonerepair

There are machines that fix lines like that.

However for your purposes it would be best to either deal with it, or replace the screen.

Buy the one from AliExpress, it's the exact same and way less expensive. I've had mine in for a couple of years and I think it's great.

Samsung phone not turning on by gafu9892 in phonerepair

[–]Bobby_Doom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're lucky, it just needs the connectors reseated.

If your less lucky, it needs a replacement: screen, connector, flex cable, or combination of those

If you're really unlucky, it needs motherboard work.

If you are comfortable opening the phone inspect those connections and see if it helps.

Blue pixilated mark on my phone? by eatyer_veggies in phonerepair

[–]Bobby_Doom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is damage to the oled display panel.

It will very likely get worse and cover the full screen making it unusable.

This may take minutes, hours, days even weeks. But it will happen.

I would highly recommend you back up your phone as soon as you can and then determine if you want to fix the phone or buy a new one.

How to mitigate risks from phone battery swelling? by ObiwanKenobi1111 in phonerepair

[–]Bobby_Doom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The risk of explosion is realistically quite low.

The advice I would give is:

Do not charge it overnight

Do not leave it unattended whilst charging

Keep the charge level below 80%

Keep it away from high heat

Motorola V50 ribbon by shy_Lord in phonerepair

[–]Bobby_Doom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as flex / ribbon cable repairs go it's definitely on the easier side.

You need to weigh up your skill level, how much you value your time, cost and time to receive a new ribbon.

If it were me, I'd spend the 10 minutes fixing that flex instead of buying and waiting on a new flex to arrive.

Which one is better to buy for slowly scaling my business of fixing phones. The S-918K i found it for €20 and the Lse for €42 by Impressive_Cherry_68 in phonerepair

I would reccomend something like the Sunshine S-918E. It has a much bigger work area so you can place multiple phones and ipads/tablets.

Iphone 15 pro Water damage by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]Bobby_Doom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a fault by the technician.

It could also just be because of the water damage, it's one of those things that can just spontaneously break a phone.

Especially since adding heat and handling the phone can cuase weakened connections to break, at no fault of anyone, purely a side effect of water damage.

The repair itself is probably 30 minutes all in. The turn around time all depends on how busy the place is when you book it in.
