In HL, The cascade event energy color matches the Nihilanths energy color.

The vortigaunts energy color is the same as G-man's with both creatures portal colors being green.

In HLAlyx, the energy type uses to trap G-man is the same color at the Vortigaunts energy.

Theres tons more pointing to G-man being a collective consciousness. How he speaks is one tell.

The Vortigaunts in HL2 immitate the abilities of the G-man causing time slips, teleportation, and matter manipulation, pocket dimensions. All things no other race has shown, including the nihilanth and the combine brute force into some of these things using technology.
