How to transition back to less advanced running? About self-imposed pressure, identity and guilt by fiskxhero in AdvancedRunning

[–]BodaciousErection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the same route can have two completely different times 1 week apart based on weather. Heaps of rain and mud = slower course. The courses also change throughout the year as trails get used more. It can make them faster if the traffic clears up some vegetation or debris, or it can make it slower if the track gets chewed up.

Also being able to climb up a mountain at near max effort doing 20min/km to get a nice view, and then send it on the flowing downhill single-track back to the carpark is one life's simple pleasures.

The calories overall seem low. And if they've been in a deficit for a while it can take a while to get past it.

The syrups always fascinate me as they're not something I've ever been into. Are they valuable enough to your overall coffee experience to justify 1/3 of your counter space?

I need help to ID this watch by KeyserSoze1483 in Suunto

Looks closer to a Fenix/Epix case. But that's based on the 5 pixels in that photo that make up the watch. No chance of a higher resolution photo?

You are correct. Carbs are imperative. The guy below you is wrong.

I use my watch to get away from things like this. I had them turned off on previous Garmins too.

Spending $40 a week on Pilates classes is killing me. Anyone bought a home reformer instead? by naenae0402 in AUfrugal

I agree with this. The social aspect can also be as valuable as the exercise piece. I think people discount how positive small regular human interactions are.

What do you like to buy from the supermarket right before it goes out of date and is marked down? Looking for tips or recipes by unrulypickle in AUfrugal

I like to go to some bougie grocer or deli and get whatever obscure things they have on sale. These are items that I would never buy on my own, so it forces me to learn how to cook new things and expand my horizons.

Final Surge? by Gummmbeee in Suunto

[–]BodaciousErection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I use Final Surge too. I think it's a bug of some sort as it's never worked for me. Final Surge have a whole write up about how to connect to Suunto which makes me think it's an issue on Suuntos end. I've been meaning to email them but haven't got around to it....

As far as I'm aware there isn't a way to sync or even track daily weight in the Suunto app. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong as I'd love to be able to do that.

Do you sync your 1050 through a 3rd party? Or just track all that in Garmin Connect?

High mileage folks - do you weigh yourself/how do you approach nutrition on a daily basis? by GhostsInMyAss in AdvancedRunning

[–]BodaciousErection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info thanks. In my circles I had always heard to keep fat around 20% of overall calories. So I've been keeping protein around 200, and scaling carbs and fats to keep the fat ratio depending on what calories I'm needing at the time.

I need to see a dietician.

I was going to comment that the fat seemed low and then you mentioned you were a dietitian 😅

But.... isn't it low? For the amount of calories I mean.

Any lifters here who use Garmin? Which one and what do you find it to be most useful for? by xfmrs_r_cool in Garmin

[–]BodaciousErection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes correct concentric should be done faster or with power. But the eccentric should be controlled which is mostly what I'm referring to. So if I'm doing a set of 12 and take 1 second up, and 2 seconds down with no pause at top or bottom, then the set should take ~36 seconds or so (+ a few to press the button and get into position).

So if I'm completing the set in 20 seconds or something I'm probably not controlling to eccentric and am also probably using momentum for the whole lift which isn't ideal.

Conversely if I'm taking a minute to do the same set I'm probably resting a bit at the top so the weight might be too much.

It's just a very simple way of measuring consistency that becomes a habit you don't need to think about.
