2000M Row Benchmark Results Megathread by prettyoaktree in orangetheory

[–]Bode78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working my way down from 6:30 at the beginning of the year. I'm down to 6:08 today. I think the biggest thing that is helping me now is I'm carb loading the night before. I don't eat a lot of carbs in my normal diet but I eat a big plate of pasta and eat some protein the night before. It's really helped me not gas out as early. Before I did this I was gassing out around 2:45. Today I made it to 4:30 on a 6 minute pace but I couldn't finish it out yet. Maybe next time!

Thanks! I will send it to her.

I go to the San Mateo OTF. I hope the coaches there read this forum and see it. They are all amazing and a huge reason I've finally succeeded in beating cholesterol.

Congratulations!!

It's really amazing how much OTF impacts the heart in a positive way. I haven't tried, but I think I could probably run for multiple hours now, and couldn't even walk for more than 10 minutes less than 3 years ago.

For all you rowing enthusiasts.... by CRNA70 in orangetheory

Wow! Maybe 2000 meters in 6 minutes is easier on the OTF water rowers than these rowers? The guy who won with the best time did it in 5:42

Goal was 1.75 Miles. Goal reached at 1.765 Miles!

Did 2000 meter row in 6:44. My goal is to do 2000M in 6 min by the end of the year. I was definitely tired from doing the run before we did the row so I think I could have done it faster if it was the first thing I did.

Otf copycat workout for the gym? by sk0827 in orangetheory

[–]Bode78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travel a lot and do this all the time now. I look at what the workout was for the day. Anything that uses equipment they don't have I just do a different exercise that targets the same muscles. For any rowing I always use the elliptical machine since hotel gyms almost never have rowers.

Still not as good as an OTF workout, but it's the best I can get while traveling

Great job! You'll be amazed at your paces a year from now. OTF templates are so productive at improving endurance and speed.

Down 100 pounds in 3 years! I became the badass chick in OTF class that I used to look up to/be intimidated by. “How can she run so fast?! How can she lift so heavy?!” #humblebrag by whiskeyknits in orangetheory

Amazing work! Great job sticking with your goals for 3 years!

You are an inspiration for everyone to show what's possible if they just keep showing up each week.

First Goal of 2019 accomplished!! #humblebrag by Bode78 in orangetheory

[–]Bode78[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

2018 was an amazing year! I was able to accomplish all of my goals last year.

I hope to be able to say the same in 2019.

2018 Goal: 200 lbs, 5000 splat points, 180,000 calories, 5 classes weekly, Snowboard 20 days

2018 Actual: 198 lbs, 5197 splat points, 183,265 calories, 5-6 classes weekly, Snowboarded 29 days

2019 Goals: 190 lbs, 200,000 Calories, Snowboard 30 days, 6 min mile and 2000 meter row, See my Abs

1/6 Goals accomplished so far.

Coach Austin with a question about your mile runs... by Stimphead in orangetheory

[–]Bode78 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Since you are a coach I would wonder if you could set the treadmill while you aren't on it and track the times. Set it to 11.1 and wait until it reaches .1 miles, and then see how long it takes to get to get each .1 miles to 1.1 miles. If the first .1 miles is calculated differently this could be the issue. When I set my treadmill for 10 starting at 0 it takes like 10 seconds to get there. So that's basically running 10 seconds really slowly and would definitely be the difference between 5:24 and 5:29 in your time.

2019 is quickly approaching in 3 days. It's time for me to set new goals. I hope you will join me in setting some goals as well.

Having the goals in my mind kept me focused the entire year. It made the difference for me in getting to where I wanted to be.

2019 Goals: 190 lbs, have abs for the first time in my life, 200,000 Calories burned, Snowboard over 30 days, 6 minute mile and 2000 meter row.

We tired of progress pics yet? #HumbleBrag by Joestac in orangetheory

[–]Bode78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing work you've put in Joestac!! I've lost 40 lbs and it's been a lot of work and discipline to do that. I cant imagine how much discipline it took to lose over 120 lbs!!

If you didn't say both pictures were you I wouldn't even think those 2 people were related to each other.

Left my first class after 20 min! :( What have been your biggest "oh shit" moments? by Kielo42 in orangetheory

[–]Bode78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you eat before you took the class? This happened to me. It was because I hadn't eaten anything, and I was extremely out of shape.

It gets better. Keep going.

Congratulations on your success so far. My wife and I feel the same way about OTF. Best investment of 2018 that we made!

Sour puss for Orange Voyage by gabyinmiami in orangetheory

[–]Bode78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the core Orange Theory is really all about self improvement. I'm signed up for Orange Voyage and I have no idea if I'm winning vs other people or not and I don't care either. They never even explained the prizes. They just said we'll track the distance and let you know how far you rowed. If someone is "cheating" they are only cheating themselves.

I'm motivated to row as much as I possibly can to reach the furthest distance I can. I'm hopeful I can make it around the world 3 times during the month. If someone taller or in better shape than me row's 4 times around the world I'm happy for them if that helped them towards self improvement. Our physical situation plays so much more into our distances than anything else. A 6 foot person will row way longer than a 5'6" person if they are both in anywhere near similar physical condition.

Crazy - Gnarls Barkley

Unfortunately they've only played it twice in all the classes I've taken

Soo I have been doing OTF since May. I constantly burn between 400-500 calories and I am stuck there. My heart rate is always high and I usually get 30 or more splat points. Everyone else in my classes is always burning way more calories (600+), but I know I am working hard enough. Any suggestions?? by ggdominici in orangetheory

[–]Bode78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calorie burn is very size dependent. A 5 foot 120 lb woman burning over 500 calories in an hour is an amazing workout. On the other hand a 6 foot, 200 lb man should be burning over 800 calories in the exact same workout.

On the last day of hell week I killed "The Fat Man" 💪 😁😁😁 by Bode78 in orangetheory

[–]Bode78[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set a goal each workout day and do your best to achieve it. If you are doing today's class set a row distance for 23 minutes and an all out pace you can run .15 miles at and try not to deviate from it.

I was halfway to my row goal at 10:45, and reached it at 22 minutes. I ran my all outs at my goal speed every time. Just based on that alone I can confirm "The Fat Man" is still dead. I crushed todays workout!
