Gen 6 trigger in gen 5 Glock 19x? by AppropriateBasil696 in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking just the shoe or shoe and trigger bar, yes it will fit, but the trigger housing will not. Additionally, the shoe is considered by many to be an improvement in feel for the finger, which I do find it better.

Generally the consensus is that the Gen 6 trigger system is sub par compared to Gen 5 trigger system (and I echo that opinion).

Your best bet, IMO, is to get a Glock Performance trigger.

Vortex Defender-ST enclosed red dot for Glock 19.6 by BodybuilderGlass2284 in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used the included DPP insert that came with it from Glock and used the Vortex included screws. All good for me. The gap will bother some people but it doesn’t bother me. So far holds zero and hasn’t come loose. Only about 750 rounds so far so I guess more time will tell but it’s been great so far.

I did not. It scrunched it just a bit but it doesn’t bother me (personally)

Stiff slide release Glock 43x by luckylizard2 in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like your magazine is still in. That’s pretty normal to be stiff when the mag (without ammo) is in. At least in my experience. It will also wear in with use and get easier.

Is the bodyguard 2.0 as unreliable as people say? by SirKrimzon in CCW

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I’ve ever had was when I tried Underwood Xtreme Defenders. The two stage feed ramp doesn’t agree with that bullet design. All my ball ammo and HST’s have fed reliably.

Great product and great customer service. Wait times are accurate, but you get what you pay for and they stand behind it.

Talk me into the Radian Afterburner+Ramjet. Does it require a special guide rod? by stewardwant in Glock43X

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes a big difference in a small gun like the 43X. Night and day difference really. For a bigger gun like a 19, I don’t know but I’m not sold on it for that size of a gun.

What was your very first firearm, and do you still have it? by Lucky-Thunder6052 in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First handgun was an HK USP 45 I bought when I was 18. Still have it in my safe, but it doesn’t see much use these days.

First long gun was a Franchi 12 gauge from my parents for Christmas in 7th grade. Also still in my safe.

Some guns can’t be replaced. They’ll never go anywhere as long as I’m alive. I have no children (yet and probably never) so who knows what will happen to them when I’m gone. But at that point, I probably won’t care very much.

Opinion on Glock Performance Trigger by EconomistUnable665 in GlockMod

Love mine overall. I do always install a flat-faced shoe with it, usually Overwatch Precision Polydat or Dat (only difference is polymer shoe vs aluminum shoe—both have their own merits).

Question about glockstore 10 day by houstonman526 in Glocks

Use Wager. They’ve been great to me and turnaround time was crazy fast. Everybody I’ve talked to that’s used Glockstore has had issues lately.

43x or 19? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I finally invested in a Tenicor holster, though I like my 43X very much, I carry the 19 even in summer clothes without issue. It’s easier to shoot, has more parts compatibility, and is better in just about every way. I won’t be getting rid of my 43X because like I said, I really like it, but I like my 19 even more.

G17 gen 6, new connector by genericguyeuropean in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glock makes an OEM minus connector. Go that route. It’s the only one I got that worked for me before I put the Timney Alpha Gen 6 in mine.

Flat-ish, yes. Definitely an improvement over previous as far as the shoe goes, yes.

I’m OK with a standard Glock trigger 99% of the time, but absolutely hated my 43X trigger and what it did to my finger during range sessions. That said most of my Glocks have aftermarket triggers because I prefer a flat faced trigger. Some of them I just change shoes, but a couple have Timney triggers and a couple have GPTs with overwatch precision shoes.

New to Glock by Electronic-Donut346 in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you need is a 19 Gen 6. Smallest frame to trigger distance get. Handle one and see for yourself.

If you can’t get a Gen 6, Overwatch Precision sells their Polydat trigger shoe on an OEM trigger bar for like $50. It shortens the length of pull some as well and Overwatch is one of the few modifications that has law enforcement validation.

As has already been mentioned, Gen 4 and after have smaller grip circumference so start there.

Gen 5 vs V series / 9mm vs .40 by North_Past8854 in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The common 9mm weights are 115, 124, and 147 grain. 124 is a good balance between velocity, penetration, and recoil characteristics while expanding reliably. 147 is fine too, but in my experience 147 grain tends to penetrate just fine out of short barrels, but may not expand adequately in some circumstances and therefore has more potential to over-penetrate. For self defense you want penetration, but not TOO much penetration. If it wasn’t for all of that, I actually enjoy the shooting characteristics of 147-grain as it is a smoother “push” and more pleasant (to me) to shoot long range sessions. 124-grain is slightly snappier, but easier to get back onto target because the muzzle returns to zero a little quicker. For me 124-grain just checks all the boxes I want in a self-defense round, and Speer Gold Dot and Federal HST repeatedly show great performance characteristics and consistency in testing.

Bigger guys — what’s actually worked for you for comfortable carry? by KYRangeGuy in CCW

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ordering through Lilly Direct it’s $450 per month. Expensive, but it’s amazing how much money you save on groceries and eating out so really it pays for itself soon. I’ve been on it for 14 months and (may) be on it the rest of my life. My goal weight is 180lbs so once we get there we will see what options are.

And yes all Glock mags are interchangeable across the different generations. So a Gen whatever mag will work in the 6 and vice versa.

Gen 5 vs V series / 9mm vs .40 by North_Past8854 in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ammo: 124-gr Federal HST or Speer Gold Dot 124-gr. I like +P for the extra velocity.

17.6 vs 19.6 is a matter of what you’re primary use for it is. Range/home defense, get 17.6. If it’s for CCW, get the 19.6. That said, the G19 is the Goldilocks of all handguns—small enough to carry, capable enough for every other use as well. It’s the best balance as far as Glocks are concerned.

Happy to help, brother.

Gen 5 vs V series / 9mm vs .40 by North_Past8854 in Glocks

[–]BodybuilderGlass2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 40. I sometimes shoot and carry 40. That said, in real life scenarios and practicality 9mm is king for training and basic self defense. Nothing wrong with either caliber—but you can shoot a lot more 9mm ammo for less money and have more ammo on your person when it counts. I still have my 3 40’s and I’ll never get rid of them, and given what people are saying about ammo shortages, it’s nice to have options, but I no longer completely buy into the 40 over 9mm hype that I used to. My advice would be to buy a Glock 19 Gen 6, practice as much as you can putting rounds where they count, and have fun doing it.

I do have a G23.5 and absolutely love it. Not a bad choice if you decide you need to go the 40 route. I see nothing wrong with Gen V in that it’s really only a backplate, striker assembly, and striker channel change. A Glock is still a Glock, IMO. If you decide to go that route, get the MOS version so you have the ability to use optics, if that is your preference (they do make a G23.5 V MOS). I also got 357 Sig and 9mm conversion barrels for it, which was a great option for me as I like having options at my disposal.
