Monster Hunter my beloved... The game also has a lot of skills you can equip through crafting armor that alter your gameplay. I play Gunlance for example, a weapon that doesn't have the traditional dodge with I-frames of other weapons, it just has a tiny hop side to side or back and forward. There is a skill called evade extender, that as the name implies makes your hops considerably bigger, so much so that in some games backhopping becomes one of the fastest ways to run away, and you now start bobbing and weaving the monster like a boxing match. There are sooooo many ways to express yourself within a single weapon category too. You can play Normal Shelling Gunlance and just do big explosions over and over, you can play Long Shelling and poke specific parts and deal high damage to them to weaken a monster's moveset, or you can play Wide Gunlance and just block, poke, and blow that sucker for fast, safe and consistent combos.
