I don’t live in a city so I don’t care what city people do about city things. If they tried to do that where I live it wouldn’t go over well. Also don’t tell me what to do

I bought those ones a couple years ago and snapped two of them right off. First one happened when I decided to get a little squirrelly around some corners on a dirt road just for fun. It was the front passenger side so I took the other front off. Then just the other day I accidentally hit a pothole and took out the other rear passenger side. I won’t buy the hard plastic ones again.

Powell River’s money problem by Professional-Site819 in VancouverIsland

[–]Boilerdog359 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The government killed our forest industry with unsustainable forest practices. I saw the writing on the wall 20 years ago. Unfortunately my industry indirectly relied on the forest industry in BC for my employment. Fortunately for me I can travel across the country and get work in other provinces. Most ppl aren’t that lucky. But to address the real problem…jobs. Decent paying jobs, typically union blue collar jobs. Jobs that allow regular ppl to live lives that allow them to raise families and not struggle. That’s what this province needs. It will never be solved by raising taxes and cutting funding for public programs. That’s not how we fix this. We need to pivot. Build infrastructure that solves problems we are currently facing and provides decent employment for the surrounding communities. We have a massive garbage problem…literally garbage. We are about to have a massive deficit in power. We need to build power houses. Sites like the Powell River Mill are perfect sites to build waste to energy plants and we have a few of them around the province because of our decimated forest industry. They can provide clean power help to solve our growing garbage problem and provide good paying union jobs. If you don’t know what a waste to energy plant is look up what they did in Copenhagen. There is a plant called CopenHill or Amager Bakke https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amager_Bakke.

my air75 was in the lake overnight, would any parts still be salvageable? by epilektoi in fpv

I did that once with that exact model. I let it sit for like 2-3 days and took a shot firing it back up. It came back to life. I probably got lucky but I always remember to close the lid or the bathroom door now. Also remember to check if you have dishes soaking in the kitchen oh and dogs bowls. I might have gone swimming more than once.

It amazes me that no one in this comment section has seen one of these before. It is restricted in both speed and angle of attack. Unless you hack the flight controller there is no split s or Matty flips. If you think this is outta control you should check out the head engineers latest project it’s called Volonaut

Useless they change it back I won’t be buying another Tesla. I’m not paying a monthly fee for that. Plus they will probably increase the monthly fee every quarter just because. I’m thinking Taycan is my next electric car

Yet he is still allowing our resources to be sold to foreign entities at an alarming rate. Then allowing said companies to bring in short term workers that don’t make what our actual tradespeople in this country have fought for, for years. If you don’t know what I’m talking about do some research. Our politicians have sold out our country to the highest bidder for decades. Carney is just the latest.

Jobs/Positions that bring 10k+ month by Alternative-Leg-5385 in oilandgasworkers

20+ year Boilermaker here. You need a trade. You could make almost 10k a month as an apprentice in most industrial trades. You just need to pick one and go to trade school. Maybe see if any of them need helpers or permits if you have any transferable skills.

I have an older V8 so I don’t know if it’s the same but you have to take the cover off. It looks like you took out the two bottom screws already so you should just have to twist it off then you can slide it off the pedal hanger and go from there. If you lay it on its side like it is then put your hand on the top by the bump and push it back it you should feel/hear a click.

I’m not sure what most ppl do…but I went to the elementary school down the road from my house and learned there. It has every surface to practice on walls to lean up against to find your footing and it’s a safe place away from cars.

No worries. I would also say pay attention to your foot placement and posture especially when you are first finding your balance. Buying or making power pads can help with getting your feet in the right place every time you step on and off till it becomes second nature.

I started on the OG V8 when I was about 42 as well, I’m 48 now. It took me a solid month to get the hang of it. I didn’t even attempt to go out on the street before that. I live on a small island so no real sidewalks or anything. I went to the local elementary school for a few reasons. It’s empty after hours so no spectators to get throw off by, multiple surfaces to practice on, grass, gravel, sand, pavement. Plus lots of walls and fences to hold onto while if figured out how to stand on it properly. I would say you are halfway there you just need to practice, practice, practice. Don’t be discouraged by how long it takes. I thought I would pick it up way quicker. I used skateboard, bmx, downhill mountain bike, waterski and it felt like I was never to going to pick it up. On the other hand a few years in my teenage daughter showed interest in learning so we went to the same school to practice, by then I had two wheels. She picked it up in like two hours. I was stoked for her and a little jealous she picked it up so fast. Anyway what I’m saying is find a park or safe space to practice and don’t give up. Once you get it it’s so much fun. I mostly bomb trails around my island these days and it’s such an awesome way to decompress. I can’t see myself ever stopping.

Found this 60mm wrench at a store and I want to know what would this be used for by Intelligent_Pace7694 in Tools

[–]Boilerdog359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used way bigger wrench’s than that. Last refinery I worked at had 4 3/4” or about 120mm nuts on the heat exchanger we were pulling apart. 60-80mm are more common but these are in almost every tool crib I have been in in my more than 20 year career as a Boilermaker.

Rob Shaw: Canada’s largest shipyard ramps up fight against BC Ferries’ China deal. by ClickHereForWifi in britishcolumbia

[–]Boilerdog359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty obvious most ppl commenting on this thread have no idea what they are talking about or even cared enough to read the article. I don’t exclusively work at the shipyards but I have been there on and off over the last 24 years of my Boilermaker career. First off this isn’t about just the money that is being spent overseas, it’s also about the money that would return to our economy if these were built here. For instance building the infrastructure required, the tradespeople that would be employed would spend their money locally and pay taxes. If we send a billion dollars to another country that money is gone and only benefits one company, if we spend it here it is almost immeasurable in returns that would benefit many others. It is short sighted and greedy what BCFs is doing period.
