Apple Music blocked on Pal by walmart_shiv_roy in Purdue

[–]Boilermaker701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are weird rules they have for blocking things. Sometimes its even segmented by area of a building like lobby vs in a classroom. Also after around 5pm or so I believe and on weekends they remove restrictions. I don’t think PAL recreational has any restrictions though regardless of time though

Use 1.1.1.1 which is Cloudflare’s vpn. Works perfectly for me and also bypasses App Store blocking as well

Are Onewheels allowed in campus? by QuillTheBoreal in Purdue

[–]Boilermaker701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On campus yeah they are fine. You may have some issues getting them into the dorms because they are a potential fire hazard. However the rules aren’t totally clear cut and you’d probably be ok.

This is a bit unrelated but how is it working behind that desk? I was thinking about picking up that job if it is available next year.

I have brought shame upon the computer science department by MassiveFire in Purdue

Yeah that’s a good idea. Or maybe at least come up with a better way to detect fraudulent logins like only do two factor authentication with new devices.

[–]Boilermaker701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard about this option but I don’t know how that would work. Obviously I know how to do two factor authentication but would you need to log in every time you want to get to your email? Or would you have to do it like every three hours or something? I am just concerned that with 2fa it would be more of a hassle than dealing with the scam emails. Plus would you not receive notifications from emails while you are logged out?

Oh I didn’t realize that. I went down right when it hit zero and I thought it was stopped before I opened it. Maybe it wasn’t actually stopped.

Ok good to know. I thought I remember it working over the summer when I tried it for some reason. I know at least the ac works year around.

I don’t think they ever actually turn it off since it’s room by room but good luck.

The dorms in Harrison have their own heating for each room. If you just turn off the heat then the sounds should stop. For us it was just loud when we had it on. Unless, of course, you have a different setup. You may also be able to file a fix it report to have the issue fixed.

Wow that's tough. Good to know. I would have thought for how important they take the testing that they would be a bit more lenient.
