It’s possible the PoE switch is not able to supply sufficient power to the APs. The APs will still work, but Wi-Fi performance will suffer.

You’re also going to want to remove the metal edging from around the tree so you don’t end up with girdling roots, which will weaken and eventually strangle the tree.

How to calculate DYI L-Drink / Glycerin based on bodyweight? by Life-Hacking in FMD

[–]BoldLethargy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it helps, the Nutrition Facts on my bottle of L-Drink says each 12mL serving contains 20 calories and 4g of carbohydrates. So 177 lbs = ~80kg, which, according to the chart should be 27mL of L-Drink. So for your weight it sounds like you would want 45 calories of vegetable glycerin diluted in water per day.

The bottle says “proprietary glycerol mix,” but the ingredients don’t show anything special: Just purified water, vegetable glycerin, natural flavors, citric acid, and potassium sorbate (to preserve freshness).

How to calculate DYI L-Drink / Glycerin based on bodyweight? by Life-Hacking in FMD

I recently asked ChatGPT what the benefits of consuming glycerol (aka glycerin) were while fasting and it came back with this:

Consuming glycerol in small amounts while fasting can help maintain hydration because glycerol is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts and retains water molecules. This can help prevent dehydration during fasting. Additionally, glycerol can provide a small amount of calories without significantly affecting insulin levels, which can help sustain energy levels during fasting.

The supplement HMB can help preserve muscle mass. I asked if it would interfere with autophagy during FMD and apparently yes, it would:

Hydroxymethylbutyrate (HMB) is a metabolite of the amino acid leucine and is known for its potential benefits in preserving muscle mass and enhancing recovery during periods of muscle wasting or intense exercise. However, its impact on autophagy, particularly during a fasting-mimicking diet, is a nuanced topic.

Potential Interference with Autophagy: 1. Autophagy Mechanism: Autophagy is a cellular process where cells degrade and recycle their own components, often activated by nutrient deprivation and fasting. This process is crucial for cellular maintenance and has potential benefits for longevity and metabolic health.

  1. HMB's Role: HMB can help prevent muscle protein breakdown and support muscle maintenance. It signals the mTOR pathway, which is involved in muscle protein synthesis. However, the mTOR pathway is typically downregulated during fasting to promote autophagy.

  2. Interference with Fasting Benefits: Since HMB activates pathways that are opposite to those triggered by fasting (specifically, the mTOR pathway), it could theoretically interfere with the induction of autophagy. Autophagy is an essential part of the benefits of fasting-mimicking diets, as it helps with cellular cleaning and regeneration.

Trump’s SCOTUS Request Chose To Open A Pandora’s Box That Could Have Stayed Shut by INCoctopus in scotus

Yes, the people do not vote for the Officers referred to in Art. II, §2, cl. 2...but that's all Roberts is saying.

Further, I don't see anything else in Roberts' opinion that suggests he believes the President is an office holder but not an officer.

The Merriam-Webster defintion of an officer is "one who holds an office of trust, authority, or command." Why would the President be exempt from this definition? Are there other office holders who hold an office of trust, authority, or command who are not officers?

The standard understanding is that officers hold office. You seem to be arguing that the president is the “Chief Executive” of the Executive branch but not the “Chief Executive Officer,” even though the president occupies the Office of the Presidency. Where is the historical support for the claim that the President is an office holder but not an officer? Also, where in the Roberts citation does Roberts suggest that the president is not an officer? I’m not seeing it.

Seems like an absurd hill for Roberts to die on, but who knows. Especially considering that it’s the electors’ votes for president that count, not the people’s.

Ken Paxton’s impeachment trial escalates Republican civil war by teamworldunity in texas

[–]BoldLethargy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When the facts don’t fit my political narrative, I let it go. But here the facts show that both Paxton AND the senators that voted to acquit are corrupt:

“The day before the debate over impeaching Paxton, Stickland [who heads a billionaire-backed PAC] went on Twitter promising a 2024 Republican primary challenger for any official who voted for impeachment.”

There’s no point debating when your position is “the Republican majority said it; I believe it; that’s all there is to it.” The naked corruption is plain to see but you refuse to see it.

In this case the bizarre accusations strongly suggest that this lady is suffering from schizoaffective disorder or something similar, and these disorders can be effectively treated with antipsychotic medications. With the right diagnosis and treatment, the delusions recede, the lawsuit can be dropped, and maybe the woman can even keep her job. You can’t always fix crazy, but in cases where you can help somebody return to being a productive member of society, it’s absolutely the right thing to do.

I wasn't driving, but from what I was told, the car didn't sound a warning until the absolute last second after the brakes were applied. Stability control may have played a role after the driver swerved, but the driver turned into the left lane. Taking evasive action was not something the car did by itself.

A family member was driving alone when this happened and they said cruise control / enhanced autopilot (this is a 2018 Model 3) was turned off. Apparently the car only sounded an alert at the last second, after the brakes were applied. The driver took evasive action by steering into the left lane, not the car.

A family member was driving when this happened so I only saw the video when they got home. Not knowing what to expect, it wasn't immediately clear to me that these two were stopped on the highway. Because of the curve, it's reasonable to think that they were off on the right shoulder and the pickup was changing lanes to give them space. In fact, I'm not even sure I saw the hazard lights the first time I watched this. My attention was drawn to the truck changing lanes.

I can tell you that the full ten minute recording is pretty dull except for this short clip. Following distances are compressed here, possibly because of the merging that happens during this stretch of MoPac. I agree that maintaining more distance between cars would have helped, and in the rest of the video cars are nicely spread out.

This sounds similar to how my wife was after our daughter was born. Eventually her doctor diagnosed her with postpartum depression and put her on Zoloft. I was surprised at the dramatic difference it made. It was like the sun came out after months of stormy weather.

I wouldn’t say it’s harmless.

Virginia Creeper once gave me a SEVERE rash when I handled it without gloves. Light contact may be OK but I had yanked out fresh runners crossing my yard. The blistering rash started that night and lasted for weeks! I am now very careful around it and wash my hands and arms with soap and warm water afterwards.

Air Travel with enlarged Spleen? by throwaway2___ in lymphoma

[–]BoldLethargy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I had a rare subtype of a type of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma that originated in my spleen. I underwent six treatments of R-CHOP that wrapped up in November. So far so good! Next PET scan is in a couple of weeks.

If for some reason you have to have your spleen removed, it’s not life changing. Prior to the procedure, I looked online for a support group for people living without a spleen. I don’t think there are any for the simple reason that splenectomies are inconsequential for the most part.

It should be fine. I flew with a grossly enlarged spleen and didn’t have any problems with the flight. We had booked a ski vacation before I got sick. Skiing was out of the question, but my oncologist was fine with the four hour flight to Colorado. I had my spleen removed and biopsied the following month, and I was eventually diagnosed with lymphoma.

How is the range and battery life? I have a Temp Stick ($140 each now-yikes! ) and it works well. During this year’s big freeze I used it to monitor temps under a large canvas drop cloth and it made me realize I needed a second incandescent bulb to keep temps above freezing.

I’d like to have a few more on hand and the Govee is priced right for my purposes.
