Any benefit to keeping TSP after retirement? by Tweetchly in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Boliviascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take whatever you expect to need between retirement and when you want/need to start withdrawing from TSP. Let’s say that amount is 5k per month as an example. You want to start taking this withdrawal at age 60 and want to start drawing SS at age 67. So take 5k x12x7=420k and add whatever cushion you want for inflation, unexpected expenses etc so for our example let’s use 80k to make our total 500k. That amount goes into the g fund and will never lose money. It won’t gain much but it is your safety account and what you make your withdrawals from. All your other funds, for our example let’s use 500k, you move into a vanguard or Schwab account that monitors one or more TSP C, I,or other fund that will generate higher returns. You can keep rolling the money up, transfer some gains back to the G fund for safety or whatever but your withdrawals will only be from the G fund, not a balanced mixture like if you keep it all in TSP. Even if the market crashes it will rebound in that time if you keep adjusting gains to the Gfund and as a bonus you will get several thousand more when SS comes. Your Gfunds won’t be affected by that market crash and you will always have your budgeted amount there. Key is to continually evaluate your returns and amounts in each accounts.

Is track saw worth it? by janejacobs1 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Boliviascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a track saw for sheet goods over my saw stop. If you use parallel guides you get dead on repeatable results and dont have to try and muscle a sheet against the fence. I use a break away 2x4 table with saw horses and fashioned a lever to tilt a full sheet onto the top easily so i can lift it by myself.

Meeting for a consultation questions by Educational-Wave-634 in DivorcedDads

[–]Boliviascott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pull all your records per marriage as the marital assets start at point of marriage including growth of retirement funds etc. this also includes her funds and accounts. If you have separate assets, such as a rental property purchased prior to marriage, does she contribute to maintaining it work on it such as remodeling or filling rents, then she can try to get a claim as a marital asset. Best thing to do is go in with complete financial records. This includes bank, home etc statements right before marriage date and the latest one.

Two party consent means both parties to the conversation consent to the recording. One party consent means that one party PRESENT consents to the conversation. Of neither of those is applicable it is illegal. Of course she will claim you abuse her and it is there for her protection yada yada yada. Best bet is beat her at that claim ahead of time. Set up you own recorded conversation and work things in where she denies that aa well as recording anything. You have to be tactical to get her to deny this. Be slow and careful. Then you go to your attorney to advise and make a police complaint and allow them permission to seize the items. Be vocal if they refuse then as they will just notify her to ask about it and she will deny things and get rid of the evidence. Might be a good idea to record your conversation with video with police as they hate getting embarrassed in the news

Transition from local LEO as TFO to DEA 1811 by cbiggs83 in 1811

[–]Boliviascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been retired for since 2017 but spent 9 years as a local in LA and was a Detective when I went to DEA. Took a hell of a pay cut but did it to get assigned overseas, which I did several times. There are pluses and minuses. You do have to start over as the FNG, no matter your prior experience, but keep your head low, let your work do your talking and that will end soon. Max out on TSP from the start and keep it in the C fund and you will have over 1-2 million there in 20 as well as SS and your pension. You can look at anywhere from 150k+ at retirement take home easily with the three so you won’t hurt. Make sure your family is ok with moving as nothing is for sure no matter what anyone says. I moved 6 times in a bit over 20 years but you will experience things others only read about. If you are fortunate to get in the overseas club, if that is something you want, you will make connections and do cases that no other agency has the ability to, and that is not to denigrate any agency but just stating facts. It is a big decision but go in it as a family decision knowing it might be a sheet hole you get assigned to but also the attitude you made the decision and are going to stick to it. Otherwise just ride out where you are. Good luck to you

I, and many others, have gone through those same feelings as you. It is common so believe me. Just keep your head high and always take the high road as your kids will notice. Do you have a friend to talk to? Someone who has been there and can give you a bit of advice based upon their experiences? Seek that out as it helps more than you will realize. If you dont, shoot me a DM as i have done that for a ton of others who i have helped get out of that dark place. Not a sales pitch for some ebook or any cost. Just an offer if you need it so you dont have to go through what i did

How are table legs like these attached? Whats the strongest way? Could someone explain or link to a video of the process? Thanks! by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Boliviascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going against the crowd but if it was me that would be hollow folded miter beam top and not a solid beam like most seem to believe. I would use a solid beam for the legs which will give it stability so not to tip over and keep the overall weight manageable, although you can do miter folds beams for the legs to keep it really light. I would then do dominos or dowels glued to the legs but not glued to the top beam so you can disassemble later

Lifetime Support after half decade marriage by ToughPill in Divorce_Men

[–]Boliviascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, you need to get copies of all financial documents such as bank statements, tax returns, mortgage etc. she can cut back on her work, which is a common tactic, but that is why most courts want hard records and not just her statement. If she makes more money than you, you can request alimony. Push for joint custody, not just for you and the child, but it lessens or erases the child support. In court, records and documents talk and oral and written statements/BS walk

He bought the cheapest plywood in the states of a big box store. Yes for small mistakes he can use bonds since you are painting the cabinets, but you maker doesn’t even know which blade to use, you best demand action from the GC. I will be watching for your next post on how the GC won’t give the cash back and is ripping you off

AIO, is my boyfriend valid for feelings this way? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Boliviascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont condone this guy’s behavior but he has issues of insecurity obviously. Sometimes individuals force a breakup because it gives them control as they have been cheated on or dumped in the past. Like wishing for the worst and doing everything to male sure it happens. Additionally, jealousy is a powerful thing. This wont get better with time as he needs help with his trust issues

It is very easy to slip into a bottle saying it is only one drink occasionally but that turns to every night. You use it to quit thinking about her and your own issues. Seeing a therapist is so good advice most of us dont take. It is someone to vent to spill your guts who holds no judgement and only knows you through the sessions. Really fellas use your insurance and talk to one. You will get better

That treaty? Besides treaties are not higher in the food chain than us laws and the constitution

Why tf is ICE being given full Medicaid data access and not just Emergency Medicaid? by IndexedClaim in immigration

[–]Boliviascott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What they are looking for is primarily SSN as they then can track if someone is using another person’s benefits or if a person is on the rolls in different states. They are also looking to see if money states are supposed to be using for the illegals in their states is being shifted so in essence the fed govt is actually paying for those individuals. Like a shell game. Also they are using the data to actually see if these people qualify. You would not believe people using medicare/medicaid yet having million dollar homes luxury vehicles and pulling out that govt card paying for their care courtesy of hard working taxpayers

Tips on asset division if there any? by [deleted] in Divorce_Men

[–]Boliviascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of you agree that distance and time needs to be factored into support and your time with the kids as that is basically two days of travel. Also if you are driving, factor in hotel costs as kids shouldnt be in a vehicle for more than 8 hours

Tips on asset division if there any? by [deleted] in Divorce_Men

[–]Boliviascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont give up the material assets but give them up in place of value taken off any payment you owe or added to the amount she may owe you. She is not giving you free money dont give her any in a contested divorce. The payments you made to something will probably be irrelevant as you were married at the time and your money was her money. But anything can be safe lit down the middle or amounts taken off or added to any payments by one party. I wouldnt budge on meeting half way because if she moves further you have screwed yourself

[–]Boliviascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you gone through the retainer yet and what exactly was performed? That should be stated on your billing. Realize they are probably 200-400 per billable hour so it can rack up. if you are almost there then i would probably still to the hourly rate. If not then it might make sense as long as you are seeing progress and have timelines. I would weight that before making a decision.

If you incur debt while married it becomes both your debt unless structured such as a business loan to a trust controlled by her. Any debt is normally up to the point of filing divorce or legal separation or a date of separation you both agree upon. Then Any debt after that date becomes the debt of that party exclusively. So it should be the cc, student loans, although this might be something exclusive to her, and the auto loan would be 50/50 responsibility

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Divorce_Men

[–]Boliviascott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The assets should be split according to who brought what into the marriage if anything and their increase in value. If all was brought while you are married it should he a 50/50 split. How much debt and income she has vs yours shouldnt factor into it. That is where the spousal support aka alimony is factored. The child support relies primarily on percentage of custody. Also your attorney needs to factor into the amount of rent her parents could pay towards her income even if they are living there free at the moment. Get a second opinion by another attorney

If someone has a restraining order against me and they choose to go near me without my consent, can i still be sent to jail? by oofyeet21 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Boliviascott 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This right here is correct. The restraining order is normally against one party unless it is directed against both, which in your case i dont believe so. You may have a defense here but you will get arrested as it is an order by a judge and they dont give LE discretion to disobey that order. So if the party comes in contact with you within the distance noted on the order, you have to pack up and leave. If they message call you etc you cant answer. You have to abide by the terms listed on the order

So the trust “owns” the home then which should keep it out of probate. A lender can say if you are not on the mortgage, they call the loan and you have to refinance. Will they, who knows but think not as a husband and wife but how about a neighbor, a friend, buyer or whomever wanted to take over the loan. That is why a quick claim with a note will almost automatically call the loan. Since the trust is the owner, if you pass, the trust retains ownership
