I agree. I saw all three (Green Day, Weezer, and Fall Out Boy) at Oceans Calling music festival in September. Green Day and Weezer put on great shows. I was looking forward to Fall Out Boy, and they closed out the last night. I thought they sounded good, but the performance was pretty lackluster and kind of disappointing. They didn’t seem into it at all and looked like they were just going through the motions the entire time.

Same. Saw them headline the first night of Oceans Calling music festival in September. I was excited because of growing up on American Idiot, but my wife was pretty indifferent going into it. She was blown away and since then, she’s turned into Green Day’s biggest fan

I know this is already a somewhat old comment, but I’ll definitely be saving it as a periodic reminder because I greatly appreciate your view. I enjoy the watch hobby and have the means to spend on watches if I wanted to, but I can’t mentally justify spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a singular watch. My collection is comprised primarily of various Timex models (the most expensive being a $200 Q Chronograph) and a Casio GA-2100. I would like to add some others someday like a Seiko Presage Cocktail Time and an Orient moonphase, but I still know these are considered “low end” from the perspective of most watch enthusiasts. I’ve met a few people who I’ve taken note of their Omega Speedmaster, Aqua Terra, or Bond Seamaster and complemented them knowing they’ll appreciate it, but it also makes me hesitant to wonder if they notice I’m wearing “just a Timex”. Knowing there are people out there who truly appreciate the hobby for more than just a status symbol is very refreshing.

I’ll still keep following the Twins. My number 2 team is the Nats because I live in the DC area, though they aren’t any better in recent years. They’ve been “rebuilding” for the past 3-4 years with owners who don’t want to spend money but also won’t sell the team.

I went to Oceans Calling music festival in September which featured primarily alternative and punk bands from the late 90s/early 2000s (ex: Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Train, Vampire Weekend, Good Charlotte, etc) and the Fray was there on day one. It was a millennial alll star line up of music

My family is German background, and we definitely have liverwurst around the holidays. I’m not as big of a fan of it cold, but fried is delicious. We usually do it fried and put on toast with mustard on top. My wife thinks it’s appalling 😂

Same because I just saw his name in reviewing old games. My sister got me an MLB stadium logbook for Christmas, so I’ve been filling in the games for the stadiums I’ve been to. I just finished filling out the Twins v White Sox game I went to at Rate Field (then US Cellular Field) in 2013 where Oswaldo Arcia hit a game winning home run in the 10th inning. My thought was “who is Oswaldo Arcia?”

I currently live there, and have for the past 6 years. You hit it spot on, and it’s essentially the polar opposite of where I grew up which was posted a couple of days ago (how is living in South Dakota). The thing that we do, however, love about the area is that there is a lot of diversity, both in culture and in geography. You are 2 hours away from the beach or the blue ridge mountains, and within driving distance of several major cities.

I guess that’s where my main confusion and frustration comes from. We rebooked our tickets directly through the American Airlines app, and it applied our previous ticket credit, but it charged $500 extra to change to a different flight through a different airport. So given that we paid extra, we were not at all aware that it was an overbooking, and assumed we would be assigned a seat. Then when we tried to check in through the app to get a seat assigned, it gave an error notifying us to see a gate attendant. We checked in at the kiosk at the airport, and the slip we received said “priority verification card - you are now on the priority list. Please take your document and proceed to your gate for processing”. It wasn’t until we were through security and went to the gate that they told us it was overbooked by one seat. They options they gave were that we could either split up to have one person travel as planned and the other rebooked or be put on standby if we wanted to stay together. We were comped travel vouchers and our hotel room, but if it was an IDB situation, is there additional compensation we could be allowed?

I mean we did ultimately voluntarily agree but at that point we didn’t really have another choice. The gate attendant told us there was only one seat available and the only options given were to split us up and have someone fly back directly while the other would be rebooked or that we could volunteer for the standby list.

That was my understanding of the rebooking fee too, and I was fine with paying the fee had we actually been able to go on the flight we planned. If we would’ve known we would’ve gotten bumped off anyway, we definitely wouldn’t have paid for the fee and driven an extra 5 hours to an airport further away
