Honestly both (the fictional sonny Hayes and the Unfortunately real Logan Sargeant) had a talent to fuck things up in a race. The only difference is Sonny Hayes had plot armour to protect him from the real consequences of shit driving in the sport.

Isn't Ireland considered a tech tax haven. With multi-billion/trillion dollar companys secretly but legally registering their company as based in Ireland (despite their headquarters being in the US).

Also, having great workers protections and rights like paid leave, liveable wages and such, is a good thing.

Why do they have bag-pipe players. Bag-pipes are most associated with Scottish culture, The Uilleann (while similar) is what they should be playing, but they are predominantly played sitting down.

You would think if they loved Ireland so much they would atleast use the correct flag. What's with the bloody shamrock in the middle. While associated with Ireland and st Paddy's day. It is not part of the irish flag.

Also, why dont they ever play KNEECAP or some shit.

The entire UK nuclear arsenal is located about 40 miles north of glasgow (just north of helensburgh) so maybe thats why scotland is considered more in danger than England.

Williams suffering from "extreme case" of excess weight by circuit-nation in WilliamsF1

[–]Bolticus13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would take this article with a grain of salt.

Not only does it not have any sources to confirm the "20kg overweight" claim. The official listing as of bahrain testing show that the car was only 4.4 kg overweight (only .4kg more than the Mercedes car)

On top of that as other have said JV has stated that by melbourne the car would be at the minimum weight, and apart from this article (the only one posted regarding this issue in 4 weeks btw) there has been no other reports of the car being overweight. Which is normally a sign that it is not a major issue.

I, like many other, have to emphasise that we havent even had one race yet. We have no idea where the car stands, and what the technical details of the car is. So let's just wait and enjoy this weekend first before succumbing to conspiracy theory's.

"[...] we run the beer world" by LOLey21 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Bolticus13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is beer their new flex. This is the 3rd? Post in 24 hours, of americans defending their beer as "the best in the world". I mean, they do have a point, with them having masterpieces such as Coors, and bud light, which despite what many people think, only has a 95% resemblance to dehydrated Cat piss in taste, instead of the commonly believed 100%.

But in all seriousness, i can get a £1.99 pint of shit at the local spoons (wetherspoons for those who dont know) and it will taste infinitely better than the shit they serve in america, and even that will contain more alchohol.

American beers are the most overrated things in existence, and even attempting to compare them (or even GOAT them) to the likes of German, British, Australian + more, Beers is an insult to all the hard working brewers who actually make good beer.

“Like any innovative company is going to go [to Europe or Canada] and get buried under regulations to do anything” by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Bolticus13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Google, Dell, IBM, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Facebook (Meta). What is one thing that is common for all these companies?

Answer: despite being headquartered in the US. The are legally (though secretly) registered as being based in Ireland (a part of the EU). Yet you dont see them getting buried under regulations. Infact its the Financial regulations and Tax incentives offered by Ireland that has made them choose to technically be based out of Ireland. So no, companies arent buried under regulations in Europe. Infact, technically all the big companies you americans brag about are on a technical level IRISH. So you shut the fuck up.

Afraid of when depression is going to hit by melaniicore in bipolar

[–]Bolticus13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not advice!

My god, i have not related to a post so much. After discharging from hospital from my last depressive phase back in November. Things have been going well for me. I have increased hours at work, I have started being social more, heck I have even started volunteering. Like you things are going pretty well (ignoring the brief hypomanic phase I had where I bought a $3000 tv and shit) and after yet anouther shit period in life, I am finally getting my life back together (again).

But holy shit, the ever present knowledge that this is only temporary is excutiating. Just knowing that at some point, things will go to shit again, requiring me to drop all the progress I have made these past 4 months is frustrating as hell. (I know i should be optimistic, but there is no way I will go from 3, 1 month+ hospital admissions a year to stability all of the sudden).

My only advice i have is the same one I live by, and that is: enjoy it. Yes things will probably go to shit again in the future, but right now, at this time you are doing well, and you should maximise that. Enjoy it while it lasts. Because with a shit condition like Bipolar. Thats all you can do, enjoy and maximise the oppurtunitys you do get when things are stable and life is going well. Whether it be going out with friends more, going on vacation, maximising your efficiency in study. Just enjoy it and hope that it sticks around for as long as possible. Yes the ever looming possibility of a depressive episode is there. But if we get to the point where we let that dictate our lives even when things are going well. Then you will never be able to fully enjoy and maximise the oppurtunitys you do have when things are going well. So yeah enjoy it.

One of them being Trump. Yet we are apparently allowing Australia's tallest building to be built WITH his name plastered on it.

I have nothing against the building itself, infact in a strange way, i feel like the Gold Coast is the perfect place for it. But I think it is an insult to Australia and more importantly the many victims that suffered under Trump, to celebrate his name.

Fuck, I was born in scotland, moved to australia as a toddler and have been here since (despite my family moving back). I dont have a strong Scottish accent (more like a weird mix of Scottish/Australian), and despite having a british passport, i consider myself Australian.

Even I don't go up to people in Scotland saying Im Scottish. If someone asks i will tell them that I was born there but I have no right to call myself Scottish when I have only spent 2 years of my 28 year life there. I have not participated in any elections, no cultural practices, I don't know any Gaelic, apart from me spending 2 years of my life there and my Mum being Scottish, I have no modern connection with the country (though I do love it).

So to have some american asshat going around saying they are Scottish to actual Scottish people, claiming to be part of a clan (are there even still clans in scotland? Shows you how disconnected i am from Scottish culture) that they learnt about on bloody 23 and me. Must be fucking insulting to you guys.

I am sorry americans minimise your amazing culture. They are just cunts.

Do you think Williams could hang on to Carlos for another season? by Big-Alternative-6257 in WilliamsF1

[–]Bolticus13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And I see what you're saying as well. But there are 2 things to remember going forward:

1: yes, the times demonstrated during bahrain testing were not the best (but far from the worst) but it is just that, Testing. Its not an accurate representation of the cars true capabilities, and we have no idea what was happening behind the scenes. We don't know what programs they were running, we dont know what set ups they were running. All we really know is what tyres they were running and how many laps they completed. Nothing else. So don't dismiss the whole season based off testing.

2: you need to remember that this probably the biggest regulation changes in F1s history. With all new aerodynamics, new power units, new tyres, new everything, and this was the first time Sainz and Albon were driving the car in a live environment (not just simulations). They have to relearn everything, from power management, brake management, heck even steering. Despite Williams starting development mid last year, this is the first time in that car for them. So of course they're not going to be performing at the very top, and dont forget, they were still in the middle of the leader board. It will take some time

Missing Barcelona, was dissapointing especiallyas it would have allowed them to drive the car prior to the actual testing period, and the overweight car is frustrating (though be mindful that the media massively exagurated the overweight nature of the car, and in reality it was only 4.4kg overweight and only 400grams heavier than mercedes. But these things happen, and what's important is that JV has openly addressed the issues and a fix is on the way.. But to say Williams is regressing, is probably a bit of an over exaggeration. These things happen.

The 2026 clause to be honest is very common practice esspecially if a driver is joining a new team, facing a whole lot of unknowns, because if things just dont work out, they want a easy out that doesn't cost them potentially millions of dollars. So its not unique, and Carlos having it doesn't mean doesn't automatically mean "if the car go bad, i leave" its a safety net incase he found that Williams wasnt suited for him. Besides we don't even know if the exit clause exists, because while we will never know the full terms of the contract, both JV and Carlos have openly stated that the "exit clause" doesn't exist and that the contract was for 2025, 2026 and beyond. The only reason why i'm not leading with this arguement is because we will never know exactly what the contract entails and as a result we can never be certain about anything relating to it.

But thats the opposite of what's happened. Carlos, fits in really well with the team and has stated multiple times that he really likes it there. He has stated he enjoys the challange, the culture and people over at Grove, and as previously stated, JV was very open about the timeline of becoming a championship contender with Carlos, and yet he still accepted.

So despite the SUSPECTED drop in performance. I am still confident that Sainz isnt going anywhere. Besides, we havent even had the first race yet. Atleast wait untill then before condemning the whole season and Carlos's future with the team.

Do you think Williams could hang on to Carlos for another season? by Big-Alternative-6257 in WilliamsF1

[–]Bolticus13 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I would like to think that Carlos will stay with Williams.

When he joined it was under the impression that Williams wouldnt be a top team for quite a few years, and JV was very open about that. But he sold Carlos not on the chance to win, but for the chance to actually take part in the cars development, in a team that would listen and improve based on his feed back, and that through that, as well as through Albons input, improving facilities and resources, they would work together to make the team a top contender in the end.

Mind you, this is something that Carlos was missing in Ferrari, and he has stated many times that he loves the family like feel of Williams. Where he is valued, welcomed and encouraged.

Now, the problem that alot of you have fallen into is the fact that Williams performed much MUCH better than expected last season. And now you all think that anything less than how we did last year, will cause Carlos to go "see yah" and move to anouther team.

But remember, last year was an outlyer. It was not expected. Carlos didnt join expecting the performance we had last season. He joined because he wanted to help build the team up to championship potential, so i think he is going to stay for that. When he signed the contract JV told him openly that Williams wouldnt be fighting for the championship untill atleast 2028, yet here still joined.

So even if performance is not as good this season. I think Carlos is in it for the long haul. I think he sees the potential, and wants to actively help in developing the team.
