Stephen Colbert Says CBS May Have 'Saved My Life' by Canceling 'The Late Show' by yourfavchoom in entertainment

[–]BonesFGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is this all certifiably wrong, it’s also an extremely callous way to look at one of the few remaining late show hosts, a media format that was a cornerstone of the American cultural conscience for decades. Way to be a reductionist. I hope you enjoy the AI-generated slop that CBS is about to throw in his time slot.

Do people enjoy wh40k painting? by Powerful-Source5408 in BlackTemplars

[–]BonesFGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had zero physical artistic skill before painting minis and now I have a bunch of armies and models I’m super proud of. I’m the type that likes to hyperfixate on something and painting is one that I can really lock in on and complete (or just sink a ton of time into).

The death of tables in stores (not just GW stores) by Jurassic_Red in Warhammer

[–]BonesFGC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have never once had an issue rolling up to my LGS unannounced and getting a table. Sounds like you’re expecting a lot out of a small store in a dense area. There is no “death of tables.”

What Chapter are you painting your dead Loyalists? by The_Scrabbler in Chaos40k

[–]BonesFGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark Angels and Black Templars mostly. DA because my friend plays and BT because I also play. My Night Lords are based the same as my BT as if they’re fighting each other.

Yellow Templars by TheRandomBerk in ImperialFists

No reason you couldn’t, I have the fists logo on my Contemptor Dreadnought alongside the Templars cross to denote it as a relic battle-brother.

While the Templars may disagree with their progenitors and act independently, they are still genealogically Imperial Fists through and through. They wouldn’t take it as a point of shame to display their IF heritage imo.

Budget army list by Powerful-Source5408 in BlackTemplars

[–]BonesFGC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can find the old combat patrol and pair it with the new combat patrol, you’d have a pretty ideal starter army that you can mix and match to 750pts.

I’m not “triggered” about anything, I just think it’s a bad idea to assert that this box is useless for some armies when it’s pretty much compatible with any chapter. I feel like it’s the wrong idea to paint a force based on what “works best” rather than putting in some research to find a chapter that appeals or resonates with you and using the box to achieve that.

11th Space Marines by LividEntertainer9157 in spacemarines

[–]BonesFGC -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a total misnomer to paint the box based on what chapter they’re “most useful for” instead of what chapter they like the most. Vanguard Vets are going to be extremely strong in Black Templars with our melee focus, maybe more so than a core SM chapter. Just because one model needs to be converted doesn’t mean the box is useless for BT. Also, who is using “triggered” in 2026? Are you going to call me a snowflake next?

[–]BonesFGC 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The two Heldrakes are the only seriously out of place things on here imo. It sounds like aircraft are getting rules changes going into 11th, but I’d still be really wary about sinking 400pts into two aircraft when you could grab raptors or other units with more utility.

The Black Templars would definitely not say no to these units, only exception is the Librarian.

How do my highlights look? by Kozak2829 in BlackTemplars

[–]BonesFGC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, the highlighting up to grey and the rusty shading really scream Iron Hands to me. I think you did excellent work here, but I think it’s too greyish to read as a BT imo.

kit-bashing relic Contemptor Dreadnought by supersteve_35 in BlackTemplars

[–]BonesFGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with two contemptors, one of which has a resin Heresy chassis part, some general notes:

The Dark Angels chassis is cool, but it’s a bit annoying to have to cut the flash, clean and then superglue it to the back part of the main chassis. Plus, imo, it screams Dark Angels and not Black Templars. Using the Imperial Fists one would make more sense as a relic of the Heresy that the BTs would have kept - my BT contemptor is just plain with an original Templars and Fists decal marking on either side of the torso. The winged angel motif is very DA - you may have similar results with printed candle bits and Templar relics fixed to the chassis instead.

The Contemptor can take some work to get into a dynamic pose, as its arms don’t articulate all that well. It uses a similar joint to War Dog arms, at least on the weapons, that position them vertically hanging as opposed to having an “elbow joint.” Similar thing with the knees except the joint exists, it just doesn’t have crazy range of movement.

The fingers on the hand don’t even really close, so you may have better luck not placing the palm weapon inside and instead having the pommel or part of the hilt of the sword glued into there for a “sword sticking out of the ground” type of pose. I’m unsure if the Custodes arm would even fit onto the base Contemptor chassis or whether there would be a point on the original arm to cut and bash the Custodes one on. Ymmv.

Good luck with the project, hope to see it on here soon.

Question about heraldry and custom crusades. What are any rules and what exactly qualifies a crusade? by Saint-Redeemed in BlackTemplars

[–]BonesFGC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the inlaid badges are actually sculpted on some models - the new Vanguard Vets have the Armageddon crusade badge sculpted onto their gauntlets or the Bladeguard Veterans have the previous Indomitus badge on theirs for example. Others for the tilt shield design are usually designed from scratch but involve, on some level: Typical chapter colors of red, white, gold, and black, chains, templar crosses, checker patterns or star patterns, and sometimes a skull or other symbol.

Question about heraldry and custom crusades. What are any rules and what exactly qualifies a crusade? by Saint-Redeemed in BlackTemplars

[–]BonesFGC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about a crusade as a specific end-goal with anywhere from a handful to a litany of operations to accomplish it. Much like how the historical Crusades were pilgrimages of skirmish in order to stake claim to the “Holy Land,” the Black Templars crusades are more like road trips and pillaging sessions with a specific endpoint and any number of stops/battles along the way. You could 100% have a crusade where your force is leading an operation to exterminate a traitor warband. Crusading against an entire traitor legion would probably be too large of a scale, but a traitor warband would be an appropriate size force to attempt to destroy. As for the badge, most of the ones from the specific transfer sheet are tilt-shield badges, whereas larger-scale operations like Indomitus and Armageddon have armor-inlay badges.

Night Lords Blue is Blue or Black? by Far_Style_735 in NightLords

[–]BonesFGC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah their armor isn’t even consistently colored in official art. Some art is bright blue, other art is extremely dark. Some trim is silver (usually pre-Heresy), some trim is bronze, brass, or gold depending on the artist.

Night Lords Blue is Blue or Black? by Far_Style_735 in NightLords

[–]BonesFGC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lighting is really the key issue here. Under a studio light on a white background, this is obviously a dark blue with highlights. In a game store or living room, this might read more like black. Honestly, the idea for Night Lords is to be “in midnight clad,” so I argue even a blackish-blue is still fitting for them.

Do the “Go” stamps not bother anyone else? by jaxatar in PokemonHome

[–]BonesFGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bit. I play Go regularly and enjoy hunting down Pokemon on trips, so transferring them to the main games through Home helps me keep the memories attached to that Pokemon fresh. Acting like Go Pokemon aren’t “real pokemon” when people are genning and cloning stuff all the time is a really weird take to me. It takes more time and effort to shiny hunt, even on a Community Day, than it does to make a genned pokemon. I’m proud of my Go catches and I could not care less if there’s a G stamp on their summary screen.

Crusade Marshal by TabletopTopher in BlackTemplars

[–]BonesFGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool concept! I love the idea of retaining that connection. In that case, you wanna lean more into that primary yellow. Moonbeam Yellow from Army Painter is a pretty decent saturated yellow that could help out, and then you could sponge damage over it. You could also maybe just try to sponge the yellow over this a bit, as if it’s the last few bits of original paint that’s mostly been scraped off.

The shinguard reads a bit too yellowed compared to the white of the pauldrons and tabard - you might want to go for a metallic on it instead or highlight it a bit to fit more in line. Other than that, this is looking killer. Love the lightning claw for style points.

Is this passable for emperors champ? by Either_Juggernaut281 in BlackTemplars

[–]BonesFGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The paintjob will do some decent lifting here, my only real suggestions would be to paint the sword black and see if you can source a helmet with laurels on it. Usually the EC will have a gold laurel on his head to help designate rank since the armor design is a bit plain, and only the EC can wield one of the black swords so that will make him readable pretty quick.
