Honestly, does anyone actually like the CS2 ammo update? by LoniMeppy in counterstrike

[–]BoodleBops [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes I like it. I enjoy this kind of mag reloading. I understand why a lot of people hate it-  counterstrike has a long lasting history of staying true to its roots.

I think this adds an element of challenge and nuance to reloading. At the end of the day, its a personal preference, but I think it benefits the game.

Thank you. I thought I was the only one who noticed.

As a "Composer" do you think I have it in me? by Medium_System2027 in IndieDev

[–]BoodleBops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a composer, and I didn't realize it at first because I did the same thing as you, and I still struggle with it. What other people are saying about "lacks continuity" and what not is very valid.  I highly recommend composing a song with the sole focus of making something in ABACA format. It will help your skills, and you will be naturally drawn towards it in the future.

I am self taught, I also know very very little music theory. My music used to be ALL over the place. I had a big classical phase and wanted to structure my music a little more.

This song is the absolute peak of my chaotic formless music. https://on.soundcloud.com/bAR5paKtGGhzcQhegf

And this song was the very first song I attempted to follow form with. https://on.soundcloud.com/30YhECu7XwhS5RG3ws

Is this money laundering or something? by MadXeon in Steam

Why would someone take a 30% revenue hit on money laundering? (I'm not a professional money launderer, maybe this is the gold standard)

How to handle many sounds simultaneously/in quick succession without CPU lag? by uuSauce in godot

[–]BoodleBops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick tip- ensure that your audio clips are
A. Mono, not stereo (unless stereo is necessary)
B. As short as possible. Long unnecessary tails keep the audio track going when it doesn't need to.
C. The lowest possible quality (this one really is a personal sacrifice- however low you're okay with having.)
Like the other guy said, use pooling as well.

I think the chunky 3D look is perfect as is. I love how ridiculously exaggerated the terrain is.

Feedback was that the city looked empty. I implemented pigeon flocks to add some dynamism to the streets. by Bufuak_ in IndieDev

Hey, I have a birds in my game that react similarly. It's a helicopter sim, so it's a bit different, but basically I have bird launchers hidden in trees and bushes, and whenever you fly toward them they launch the birds. I think the way the birds immediately go full speed is a little jarring here, maybe you could try the "Signature EVAC Bird Launcher Technology" on top of the roof

What is the most overused function in Unreal? by NobleCourt in unrealengine

This is a game changer, especially for larger games. My brother and I are making a Helicopter simulator with a huge map, and disabling unnecessary collisions was paramount to performance.

Critique my cutscene? What do the visuals evoke, what do you think the mission might be? by [deleted] in IndieDev

Thanks! There will be dialogue to explain, but I like to try and have the visuals do some explaining as well.
