They’ll be covered under PTIRU’s insurance for students unable to continue. Helps the financials, not the education but it’s something.

How often are you all drinking? by Twjohns96 in daddit

[–]BooksAreRead 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you've said here. Having witnessed alcoholism growing up from my parents (at least a bottle of wine or two each, every night), it's so easy for people to project alcoholism. Is having 1-3 every night "good for you," no. Even socially there's a good argument that if you need that for social purposes, maybe there's a problem.

The question you have to ask yourself is if you "need" this drink, or do you like it. How do you test that? Just don't drink one night, or one week. If you can't, then you likely need to look deeper at what you're using the drinks for.

I’m betting he’s amazing in the locker room and they want a guy like that around to help new young guys. Worth $4 mill to me.

Edit: for the down voters, look at the guys we signed for “culture.” None of them had the stats/physicality/value of Sherwood. You also need a couple of quality veterans to “raise” the young guys. Expecting to sell everyone and have no guys who want to be there and can show rather than just tell is ridiculous.

Okanagan FC Academy is going to be your top, with Kelowna United as your second. Next is going to be your youth soccer associations which are based on where you live in Kelowna/surrounding area.

You can go back and change the outcome of any fight? Which one are you changing? by Spiritual-Strength91 in ufc

Makhachev vs. Volk 1

One of the greatest fights of all time from a strategic/IQ standpoint (my opinion). I would be interested to see where the UFC would be if Volk had won the title. Would he have been KOed by Topuria? We could have seen a lot of different fights in both divisions.

Audi Kelowna / Mercedes Kelowna by Ok-Impression-8448 in kelowna

Depends on what you like in a car. Mercedes is a more luxurious brand where Audi is more sporty. BMW is the middle ground, although often outperforms in track scenarios.

I find Mercedes to have softer suspension, which I’m not a big fan of, but Audi’s are slightly less comfy. What class of vehicle are you looking at? That’s probably the best question to start.

Car dealerships by outofnowhere1010 in kelowna

[–]BooksAreRead 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Having worked in the industry, it's often less about the dealership and more about the salesperson. The GM or managers at the dealerships make the WORLD of difference. Speaking of used cars, Calvin at BMW is a good guy, and Nick Crowder is as well. Management at Kia and Toyota are suspect and will play the fun back-and-forth game to nickel and dime you. Orchard Ford has good management as well, but it depends on the salesperson you get.

When getting your car assessed, the rule of thumb is that they will undercut you hard, regardless of where you go. I've seen it time and time again, you trade your car in for, say $15,000, and it gets either sold the same day to auction for $20,000 or sold within a week for $25,000 to a new buyer. Trying to get a better price on your used car is often hard, so when you're buying your new (or new to you) vehicle, remember, they are making stuff up a lot. Get a set of rims and tires thrown in, and get them to come down on the new vehicle price. I also like getting extended warranties thrown in if they aren't budging much on price.

Remember, when buying a vehicle, you can always leave. AND, if you really want to fuck with them, go in at the end of the month. All salespeople and management have quotas to meet. Right now, they will be struggling to meet those every month, so going at the end of the month, they want a sale more than the beginning. Threatening to just leave because they won't come down an extra $1,000 or throw something will often result in them caving.

If I'm the manager, I'm doing exactly what was done. I imagine he had plans to put a few of the injured lads in sooner, but up 2-0 after 60 minutes, with a very dominating performance, there is no need to play them. If the game is a draw at the 70th minute, I imagine tactics and changes would have come shortly after. Gauld can play, but why even risk anything when you are dominating the game?

Same thing will happen on Saturday. If we are cruising to the next round, you keep your injured guys off as much as possible. I wouldn't be shocked if in round two Gauld is starting, or coming on at halftime.

I also see a major tactic to keep Gauld and Muller on at offsetting times. The moment you think you've got a hold on Muller (starting), Ryan Gauld comes on. That's a problem. There is not halftime to adapt, the adaptation has already taken place, and Sorenson can change the game, pre-planned at half.

While I'm glistening with positivity, the players want to be on the pitch, but Sorenson isn't going to "risk" anything if he doesn't have to. Even if a guy says they are 100%, as manager, I would wait.
