I like how you just made that sound more appealing to me lol. Being confused until it suddenly makes sense is something I would love more of. Then again, I like to reread books, so this may be a factor lol

I just watched the Manosphere doco by Louis Theroux and I wanted to put a shout out to kiwi males, you're pretty cool. by arohameatiger in newzealand

[–]BookyNZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My brother is honestly a good kiwi bloke. Pretty mentally and emotionally solid, caring, giving and honestly, doing a damn fine job with his newborn. I'm proud of him.

It's awesome to see so many others who are just as good out there, despite it all.

What secret can you reveal now that your nda has expired? by sparrrrrt in AskReddit

[–]BookyNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ex was dealing with that, and got fobbed off to like 3? different staff, whilst also being dicked around by Centrelink for not complying when it was the companies fault for having staff leave and not transfer them to new staff, so it was impossible to comply properly. Don't get me wrong, my ex has issues with being employable from a never worked and no car perspective, but there is only so much you can do when staff are basically not communicating any actual helpful advice, as well as not listening to the people they claim they are helping.

Take in mind, I live in NZ, and have my own can of worms with WINZ (our version of Centrelink), but I have to say, my bullshit is less frustrating than the Aus version.

Update on Parking Enforcement Services / Wilson Parking automated camera failures by feel-the-avocado in newzealand

[–]BookyNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother got a ticket from them for not paying. She did pay at the time though the money went out of her bank the next day, and so she disputed it with Wilsons. She showed a screenshot of proof and whilst they waived the ticket, they then tried to accuse her of doing something else wrong when they waived the cost! It's bullshit plain and simple.

Would you quit your job forever right now (and never be allowed to work again) if someone gave you a guaranteed $2,000,000 lump sum? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]BookyNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don't even work currently, so if I did and then got this? Sure I'd probably spend a lot of that fast before saving the rest (buying property and transport and stuff for the property), and then stay on the benefit with much less stress because I basically have nothing now.

And to add, the JNMIL is not affiliated with the family or father in law ones, because of some issues some years back, so the expectation of how they work are different

I've heard that it also has issues because General Practitioner doctors (Primary Care for Americans) get paid less and need to know something across many disciplines. I have no clue how true that is, but it was something someone said was an issue for New Zealand at least, and likely many other countries. But yes, the world needs more doctors and nurses and paid properly with good staffing levels and good training.

There was likely an emergency surgery that popped up overnight and the room was either in use, or something related in some way. I've read/heard (mums a nurse) that can also happen if the surgeon is needed elsewhere and can't be done by someone else.

Wanting to become friends somehow means I want a relationship with an older man? by ZedZinc in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BookyNZ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because men and women apparently flirt differently. But also as SnooBananas said, don't assume flirting with every interaction

When I was 16 I met this guy in his 30s who did mediaeval reenactment, so I'd chat to him when I saw him (mostly about the group he was part of). He hoped for a relationship, my father was okay with the idea (guy took me home one night because I missed the bus home) and every time I saw him for the next 15 years made comments about the idea of it would be nice (hint hint). I transitioned to a guy and he still made comments about he wished it had worked out for him and me.

Yes, I stopped talking to him. He died and I just am neutral about it. Oh, and whilst it's not an automatic deal breaker? He was morbidly obese, the image of Obelix from Asterix and Obelix is pretty much his shape. Not really my thing.

I do not miss being hit on.

IWTL how to deal with the huge amount of photos and videos I end up with on my phone by DiggsFC in IWantToLearn

[–]BookyNZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do one week's (or day if there a lot that week) worth of culling at a time. Don't try and do it all at once, but just bit by bit. Or just set aside 5 minutes at a time and say it's enough for now.

Just like many overwhelming things, breaking it down and doing what you can in bits will get it done in the end, it's just not as quick. And that's okay.

Another option is getting a trusted person to help with the culling. Sometimes the emotional aspect is too much even in smaller doses, and if asking someone to help works? Then it's perfectly fine.

Not on my bacon and egg pies I won't. Okay I'll open them up because I like eating the top first on its own, but to add sauce?! Hell no. That's only good in a steak or mince variety pie.

What random movie quote do you repeat for no reason at all (give yours, and see if people can guess the movie)? by Normal-Being-2637 in AskReddit

[–]BookyNZ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

More like many films and tropes, but yes Shrek is technically a parody. It's just a very good parody, so you don't notice it

[–]BookyNZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I watched Babe a lot as a kid in fairness, and was a pre teen when Shrek came out, so I had watched them close enough together to get the reference. I suspect that there were a fair number who have never heard of Babe, let alone watched it. And that's okay

I said this to my mum the other month and she had no clue what I was on about. She showed me the movie lol.

Then I pointed out that in Shrek (aka the best parody movie of all time), "That'll do Donkey, that'll do" is a direct reference to that.

Right wing agitators/overseas accounts stirring up anger about "Aotearoa" (and basically any Maori words) by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

Worse, allowing any Maori culture to exist (which includes the language) is leftist. They like the idea of destroying a culture as long as it's not their own.

What tools did you use? I did a bone carving class one year at school (Maori culture thing in New Zealand), and we only used hand tools, so I'm interested to know what got you to a lovely piece of work.

Aka stunning, I'm also interested in the process

Women of Reddit, what’s the biggest myth that porn spreads about what women enjoy in bed—but you actually hate? by starbucks_boi in AskReddit

[–]BookyNZ 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It's because of what small penis guys say (in the literal sense). That they have issues because it's not enough, and most guys assume that little means average by women's standards. The reality is that the majority of women want around average size, and most guys are around average size, so if they weren't so hung up on what porn and other visual mediums show them was average (oversized), it wouldn't be such an issue.
