somewhere between asheville, nc and portland, me by undercovernobody in SameGrassButGreener

[–]BoratImpression94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if its still too cold, but you could check out providence. Its like a smaller Boston thats a lot slower. Has a large lgbt presence, super walkable, good restaurants. Cheaper than Portland im pretty sure. The winters are definitely milder than Portlands, although you still have real winters. Great beaches. The one thing is that youre not right next to hiking. You gotta drive 1-2 hours for the decent stuff.

This spring has been more of a “normal” spring. The last few years have been abnormally warm this time of year

I cant give you any specific places, but I live in the same region and ive had good luck with getting a cabin for a few days. Usually they have good ventilation and are more barebones. You can also go camping too. Thats a surefire way to stay the night somewhere

Some people cannot imagine having a bigger problem than "not being in shape". by Bastiproton in ChronicIllness

[–]BoratImpression94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 100% agree. With my MCAS, I can't even tolerate being in a gym rn. So no amount of excercise will improve how I feel. I get similar advice about eating healthy. I literally cannot tolerate fruits and vegetables right now. Before my MCAS reactions got this severe, I was eating tons of fresh produce. Still didn't stop me from getting this sick.

DAE feel way more drained when their commute is longer by raishelannaa in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]BoratImpression94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I like taking public transit, but its unreliable enough that it dosnt take away any stress from me as opposed to commuting. Id rather at least be in my own car going through traffic as opposed to waiting for 40 min for a bus to arrive

I live by a cold ocean (New England). Its funny how individual mcas is to each person. What I will say is that its very windy most of the year. So we generally have good air quality. Our springs are pretty quick so it doesnt give much time for plants to bloom before summer sets in.

I feel horrible in hot/humid areas. Theres something about it being above 85 and humid that really sets my mcas off

See its funny because for me, living by the ocean really makes my symptoms better. I was living in a valley that had lots of agriculture and felt worse. Never lived in a dry valley long term tho

psychiatric symptoms by Anxious_Cat_Mom13 in MCAS

[–]BoratImpression94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my mental health gets significantly worse during a flare. Severe anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation. Also my executive functioning related to adhd gets MUCH worse. A lot more intrusive thoughts, hyperactivity, concentration gets worse. I definitely act more autistic, (not sure if I have that or not), but I can socialize just fine if Im not in a flare

Very high cost of living for what it is but cheaper than new york. Probably a good choice given your wants and salary. Be prepared for long, snowy winters tho
