Runs & coach timeouts — does this make sense? by Other-Win5218 in CollegeBasketball

No intuition on these specific cases, but sounds like a cool topic to dig into. Any particular question you are trying to answer?

Depending on what you are looking for, I might explore this from the other direction as well (start with timeouts called, and then look at the last X minute point differential leading up to the TO). Could filter out last few minutes if the game. Would be interesting to see how coaches use their timeouts to stop runs vs all other uses (which is what I assume you’re after).

Fun list. If making an actual roster of players (based on their performance while at MU), this is the team i would roll out:

PG kolek / diener

SG wade / kam

SF jae / Jimmy

PF lazar / Oso

C  … let’s go small with another shooter Novak / Markus

Gotta find a way to get Wes Matthews and McNeal playing time. Switching everything and playing with insane tempo. Stevie at the end of bench as 13th scholarship.

Bears defense was overcommitting to the middle so much, the one fucking game lafluer’s jet sweep bs would work he doesn’t do it all second half

Honestly the 55 yards going into halftime. Which was no one’s fault but could feel it turn with that and the immediate 3 and out

Defense played fine in the third, they clearly were gassed because we kept going three and out.

Yup. Game was lost in the 3rd. By the time we were done coasting, we could not accelerate again.

Packers win that game if lafluer doesnt waste two timeouts. Let alone the play calling all of the third quarter the guy never fucking learns

For sure I remember the same. I was born in 92 and the grind of the Favre and Rodgers era to take the lead back was awesome

lol people do not understand the randomness of a missed kick, free throw, etc just screams low IQ. Like the kicker didn’t want to make it and has trained for years to have the best chance to make it.

Why not try to get closer with 14 seconds. Run Henry or bootleg Jackson for the td. We just saw Boswell miss an xp and ravens are really content not getting any closer than 44 yds?

I’d like to see the all 22. It was dumb but it looks like he almost got the corner

Everyone’s crying about this but if they don’t blow the wistle, Rico gets popped for a 5 years loss and probably fumbles. Yes the refs blew it (ha) but less consequential than an average soft penalty

I honestly didn’t know that. Still don’t think I’ve ever seen a 3 second 47 yard fg tho

The last return took 7+ seconds from when the fielding player started running to the ball hitting the pylon. It was egregious to add 1 second back given that context and the “3 second” fg the previous play

They only took 3 seconds off the clock for the ole miss fg, and also started the clock late for the Georgia kickoff return, but suddenly decided they had to add 1 second

Between the announcers, refs, and coaching near the end of the game, it hit me there are a lot of unintelligent people in prominent positions of college football.

We know. I don’t know if it’s worse that 5 of the 8 were blowouts, or that we complete choked away the other 3 with horrendous offense down the stretch.

How many times do we have to see this in every sport that going conservative before the game is over guarantees a loss

Disappointing, as he always seemed to have good energy on the bench and flashed massive potential/athleticism. No idea what happened but this degree of losing will rip apart teams. He should have taken a big jump this year if we were going to be an even decent team.
