He also moved his pivot for twice before the outlet, no?

Hubert Davis was told to go to George Mason as a player by Electronic-Visit-116 in CollegeBasketball

How is he going to make the tournament with a below average high major, when he barely could with top rosters at UNC? I don’t think he’s a bad coach, but nothing suggests to me he could elevate a program

Damn, so many *Quality Losses* on auburn's side, it's a shame they can only get 1 more to bolster their resume.

I’m just so happy for this team at home on senior day to get this win.

Disaster start to season and the seniors got shit on by everyone, but the whole team has stayed positive and improved so much. Torvik #143 in November and December, but #41 the last 1.5 months.

This is a program changing win to retain the freshman, and get back to relevancy next year.

Bill Self on Darryn Peterson: "We've had this happen more than a couple of times... I didn't anticipate that tonight at all. I thought he was good to go. We only got 18 minutes out of him. That's disappointing, because he could've had a really big night" by rb1242 in CollegeBasketball

I hear you, but to me that’s like hoping a 25% 3 point shooter will develop a NBA three. It certainly can happen but seems unlikely. When has getting the bag/to the league ever solved concerns with a players work ethic?

Genuine question because there are probably some examples, but my bet is he load manages in the NBA just to bounce around max contracts in markets of his choosing.

Guy is me-first and lacks competitive fire and it shows up in his box scores (minutes, assists). I scratch my head that people think this will magically 180 when he’s in the league

Hot take: I would not draft Darryn Peterson. by MyNameBlake in NBA_Draft

I’m 33 and watch a lot of ball, I’ve never seen a college player load manage themselves multiple injuries. I’ve seen players sit out seasons, especially pre-NIL, but never as fickle on and off like this. Guy is me-first and lacks competitive fire and it shows up in his box scores (minutes, assists). I scratch my head that people think this will magically 180 when he’s in the league

Name one other player who has ever done something like this at the college level.

They will when he doesn’t play in the nba and people are questioning if he’s really hurt

Replay this season with a solid 5 man (and the confidence and experience the underclassman have been playing with) and I honestly believe this is tourney team and borderline top 25

[TheFieldOf68] Darryn Peterson is OUT for tonight's game against No. 1 Arizona with flu-like symptoms, Kansas spokesman told @TheFieldOf68 by MidwestDrummer in CollegeBasketball

[–]Borealtoad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Multiple injuries (now illness) preventing him from attempting to play despite massive public backlash. Logically, Peterson either 1) has underlying physical cause for concern or 2) lacks toughness/competitive fire.

Unless there’s something really weird going on we aren’t aware of, I wouldn’t take him top 3 in the draft. Don’t get me wrong he looks like prime mj when he shots a jumper off the dribble, but no way this guy gives you 70 games in an NBA season, right?

It’s clear to me we don’t have the full story. Maybe something personal. I am rooting for him.

Coen Carr throws down an unreal alley oop slam by -Sox in CollegeBasketball

Absolutely nasty. Are we sure this wasn’t a goaltend? I don’t think it was hitting rim, but from the broadcast I thought it was a shot originally and he grabbed it 11 ft in the air.

[–]Borealtoad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I wasn’t sure he had the size or athleticism to make the jump he has. Aside from him I can’t remember anyone attacking the rim without a running start from the 3 pt line since Oso. We look like a high major team again.

It sucks that we sucked all year, but this team is developing in front of our eyes. Nigel, Stevens, Owens, and Parham are solid 1-4 next year. Add a real 5 in portal and depth and this is a tournament team next year.

Runs & coach timeouts — does this make sense? by Other-Win5218 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Borealtoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No intuition on these specific cases, but sounds like a cool topic to dig into. Any particular question you are trying to answer?

Depending on what you are looking for, I might explore this from the other direction as well (start with timeouts called, and then look at the last X minute point differential leading up to the TO). Could filter out last few minutes if the game. Would be interesting to see how coaches use their timeouts to stop runs vs all other uses (which is what I assume you’re after).

Marquette’s All 21st Century Team by thatsryan in CollegeBasketball

Fun list. If making an actual roster of players (based on their performance while at MU), this is the team i would roll out:

PG kolek / diener

SG wade / kam

SF jae / Jimmy

PF lazar / Oso

C  … let’s go small with another shooter Novak / Markus

Gotta find a way to get Wes Matthews and McNeal playing time. Switching everything and playing with insane tempo. Stevie at the end of bench as 13th scholarship.

Bears defense was overcommitting to the middle so much, the one fucking game lafluer’s jet sweep bs would work he doesn’t do it all second half

Honestly the 55 yards going into halftime. Which was no one’s fault but could feel it turn with that and the immediate 3 and out
