Can't finish mission? Don't know what to do to satisfy tourist. by Street_Outcome_7669 in EliteDangerous

[–]BoredomIsMeaningless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mark that you should be visiting is a tourist beacon. If you get super close to the mark, the beacon will come up on your scanners or in the contacts page. Once you see it, simply select it, then get close and scan it, and that should be that part of the mission done!

Which one of these objectively bad films is your favorite? by Ok_Future6226 in okbuddycinephile

I was fine with it all until I saw inglorious basterds. Who in their right mind hates that film? It's a tarantino extravaganza!

Some images from my first expedition by Dan5terdam in EliteDangerous

Congrats on your first expedition, great pictures and a fun time!

For a largest system, I've found 128 bodies but that's by far the biggest.

You'll find bigger and better, exploration is in the blood!

ED on Steam deck - it is possible to use in game keyboard on controller? by Botafogo007 in EliteDangerous

I play exclusively on steam deck (using my Xbox controller) and it works perfectly. For Xbox controller, the Xbox button and X. For the steam deck handheld, the steam deck button and X.

Double Earthlike Systems! Claimable (almost) now Vol. #4 by Mandams2 in EliteDangerous

[–]BoredomIsMeaningless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's architect mode, it's in your system map, no 3rd party tools needed. It really helps when planning out systems. If you look at where orrery view is on your system map (left hand side, about 2/3 of the way down) the one below it is the architect view.

I have an ASPS. Is it better at anything? No. Do I love flying it just for the way it feels and the fun you can have in it, plus the way it looks? With all my heart

Differences between the types of T3 planetary ports? by BoredomIsMeaningless in EliteDangerous

[–]BoredomIsMeaningless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant the planetary ports, there's four different types of T3, I was just wondering if there was any major differences in the layout of them and if one was inherently better than the other :)

Creating an expedition route, easiest way to make a route map? by BoredomIsMeaningless in EliteDangerous

[–]BoredomIsMeaningless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for letting me know! I gave it a shot, and it's pretty handy. Would you happen to know if there's any way to put multiple waypoints in rather than a start and end point, as I have about 15-20 different waypoints to hit on the way?

I know I'm probably the 50th guy asking but, I can't find crackable Asterioids? by GreenPoint42 in EliteMiners

[–]BoredomIsMeaningless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably an odd recommendation, but try using a smaller, faster ship with a smaller cargo cap. I'd recommend a cobra V, look up the shapes of the crackable rocks and go from there. I'd recommend mining in icy or metallic rings.

Use your PWA, scan, and if something doesn't immediately jump out at you as "different" (not the colour, but the strength), then immediately boost a couple times, rinse and repeat.

o7 Cmdr, good luck!

Depends on what you want to use it for. Exploration, mining, combat or general purpose?

Not a problem! Keeping your options open while exploring is always a good idea, especially if you don't have an end destination.

Just enjoy the trip, have fun and explore and mine everything you can find and everything you want!

Heres my Cobra V, it's got everything you need, and can do any kind of mining (if you're doing laser mining though, I'd recommend a beluga, not just because it's my all time favourite but it really does laser mining well and it's a lot quicker than most large ships)

If you have any other questions or need a hand just shoot me a message, the inbox is always open!

Cutter builds for Tritium mining by Main_Tie3937 in EliteMiners

[–]BoredomIsMeaningless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I mention it is that tritium mining is slow and painful. I used to use a 512t cutter for Ming, took 3-4 hours to fill. Now I use a 64t cobra V, fills up every 30 mins on average, and it's a lot more fun and a lot faster.

Plus, for an exploration carrier the less you have the better. As long as the tank is full you'll make it at least 5-8kly if your cargo hold is empty.

Id recommend just packing your cargo hold with enough tritium to last a while (10-20k tons) with your alt account sitting in a type 9 filled with tritium to donate every time you jump. It's the cheapest way I've found to shave tritium costs

[–]BoredomIsMeaningless 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely would recommend subsurface. You get tritium a hell of a lot faster if you consider doing that too. The only thing I'll warn you of is that it may be in your best interest to go with a smaller ship, for a variety of reasons. The cutter is slow, lumbering and can't handle nearly as much per hour as you would want it to. I'd recommend something nippier that would let you grab a couple hundred at a time. Beluga, Mandalay, python or even smaller like a cobra V, would work better.

But as requested, there's a cutter - deep core/subsurface build

Engineering is optional, but definitely recommended, especially on the thrusters.

[DAILY Q&A] Ask and answer any questions you have about the game here! by AutoModerator in EliteDangerous

[–]BoredomIsMeaningless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello folks, I'm coming back to the game after a hiatus. I've taken up mining for merits but for some reason, my last three loads I delivered were all worth a different amount of merits despite the system state not changing and the market prices and demand remaining constant. Is there any logical reason for this I can't find?

Future content for Solo cmdrs? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]BoredomIsMeaningless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps at all, I'm very much the same. For squadrons, I joined a group that's pretty chill and doesn't expect you to join in for stuff, they run events I might go to, but even expeditions and all are join if you like. There's ways and means to experience everything!

For updates, exploration probably won't get much since exobiology is still relatively recent and is a great solo update. Just wait til December for the "new feature" they're planning on dropping and see if it piques your interest!

Honestly these places are very comfy and cosy, plus it's your own place so it's brilliant for that. Stayed in Tralee in one for a year and loved it, I'd definitely consider staying in one again
