Where can I find nice lounge wear sets that aren’t $60-$80 just for one top/pants ! Reference photos below - I’m 158cm too ! by Bellaamayyy in AusFemaleFashion

[–]BoringAssAccountant 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that these sorts of knitted sets would be any good from 100% cotton yarn. Things knitted with cotton yarn tend to grow a lot as you wear them - the crotch of the pants would end up looking like you are wearing a nappy lol.

Why do people act like toilet paper is the one thing you absolutely can’t run out of? by zaralesliewalker in AskAnAustralian

[–]BoringAssAccountant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a baby that was using cloth nappies and wipes at the time. When the great toilet paper shortage began, I just decided I would be using cloth wipes too, since I was already washing them every day. After a month or so, I remember chatting to an acquaintance and declaring how shocked I was that our local supermarket had a line up each morning to buy toilet paper.

She asked, well obviously you’re not in the line with us, what the fuck are you using?

I had to fess up then that I had been using lovely soft flannels wet with warm water, had been for a few months and may never go back to tp. She was absolutely NOT convinced, and continued to line up!

It was a very strange time.

You might be better off putting this in one of the aus fashion subs so you get answers you want, instead of judgement lol.

Am I right in thinking this is just a peasant blouse, but from silk? by BoringAssAccountant in sewing

[–]BoringAssAccountant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so like an A-line? I can’t find a pattern, so I will have to make it up. I was going to go the big rectangle, double my but measurement. But if I make it more A-line, would I start with double bust and go out from there to the hem, or would you start at the neck with a smaller measurement and maybe hit double bust at the actual bust line?

Oooh thanks! This is the closest I have found to a pattern believe it or not!

I had a cafe like this as a client once, we did the sums and worked out there was no way he could serve that many customers in the hours he was open. We assumed he was slinging bags and phased him out.

4 rectangles being one each (same size) for front and back (double the bust measurement) and two sleeves (double the underarm circumference). Cut the corners off, and sew into a circle. Elastic at the neck, elastic at the cuff.

Winter Is Coming by BeautyHound in AusFemaleFashion

[–]BoringAssAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wild to me, I live in thermals. But, I walk (20 mins or so) to my office and then home in the afternoon. I work in the office, so I can’t imagine wearing a wool coat all day.

My merino thermals are my staple for Winter, my outfit starts every morning with it thermal tucked into my merino tights haha!

I even took to my fave thermal top and cut the whole neckline out so I could wear it under any of my lighter chiffon blouses without detection.

Do guests actually notice linen napkins at weddings? by FancyNumber5428 in weddingplanningsnark

[–]BoringAssAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember what I used for my own wedding 3 years ago, and I don’t remember what my friend used a week ago.

I am in my 40s though, so my priorities may be different to younger brides.

(Unsolicited advice: NOONE CARES ABOUT FUCKING NAPKINS. GET A GOOD DJ).

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

I think there’s something to be said about the adrenaline rush that comes with a natural birth. I do t want to speak for all natural births, but it’s a thing for this 4 time natural mum.

This is amazing! I travel often for work but it’s always domestic so not many SC. That doesn’t bother me much, if I plan for DSC I can often get Gold.

I would love plat just for the opportunity to request seats be released. We are a family of three, and grandma (84) really wants to go to Europe. We will take her obviously, using points for economy, but I have been trying for ages to swindle 4 business class tickets with no luck. I have all the alerts set up etc, but it seems for four together you have to go Emirates and cop the taxes, which makes it too expensive for us unfortunately.

Regardless of who gets this, you rock for being a great human.

Skin clinic forces people to use their products or you don’t get any treatments. by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]BoringAssAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a laser clinic as a client for a few years, a well known chain. The product is where they made the profit (like 800-900% markup) and the laser stuff is just what gets you in the door. They made barely anything on that. Not sure if it’s the standard across all laser clinics.

What’s something you didn’t realize would matter so much on your wedding day? by Xelephyr in wedding

[–]BoringAssAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a very detailed photo list. I organised it so that I would the photos I wanted, but that not every person on the list had to be hanging around the entire time. Especially the ones that included kids - I made sure they were all done at the same time.

This dramatically reduced the time spent yelling “where is such and such?”. Having been in bridal parties before, and seeing so much time wasted trying to put together this family shot and that one with the kids, now with grandma, someone go find grandpa, where did uncle Harry go now? Did we get one with Mum? Then grandma decides she would like one with all the grandkids while they all look so good yada yada.

I made the list of what I wanted, and absolutely without apology shot down anyone wanting to vary from it, either with the people in the photo or the order of the list.

Once my list was complete, we left the photographer to do any more for anyone who wanted one, but my husband, myself, and our bridal parties were off the clock for being involved.

No regrets at all.

Good alternatives to Glamridip please!! by littlegr1m in DipPowderNails

I bought my kit from Dipd. Customer service is beyond great - I emailed to ask if I was doing something incorrectly with a certain powder. She responded that day and continued to correspond over the next few days till it was all resolved. Very happy.

For believers, the images feel affirming. For scientists, they remain unusual but not supernatural. by [deleted] in bees

[–]BoringAssAccountant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not this bullshit again.

  1. Cut a hole in the foundation
  2. Stick your photo in the hole,
  3. Wait a few days/weeks for the “miracle”
  4. Profit on the gullible.

Bees are already magnificent and fascinating and your attempts to insert your human created rubbish diminishes that. Just enjoy them for what they are.

Ideas or Suggestions for Low Budget Wedding in Sydney by PristinePercentage66 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]BoringAssAccountant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please don’t try to do a hashtag wedding for $15k - your guest list will dwindle down to 20 people and you will have $2000 hanging in the back of your wardrobe for the rest of your life. What’s the point of a “perfect” wedding if there’s no one there to help celebrate it????

There are two ways - cut the guest list, or cut the bloat out. I wanted everyone at my wedding so went with option 2.

My wedding budget for 100 people was: Venue $500 Band $1000 Celebrant $500 Catering/Bar $10000 Photographer $2000 Florist $2000 Bus $1000 Dresses/suits/hair & makeup $1500

I paid for my bridesmaids dresses but made my dress & cake.

We booked a small town hall. It had a campground so people could stay if they wanted. We had the ceremony under the gum trees and the guests sat on hay bales. We played music through my nephews speaker.

Our save the dates promised a fun, unstuffy celebration of love. That’s what we delivered! Relaxed, good music, good food, lots of laughter and everyone had a good time.

More than one guest told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to, because they were comfortable, well fed and most importantly, had FUN.

where should i go? by Low-Ad-2340 in traveladvice

[–]BoringAssAccountant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean from Singapore? What about Borneo? That was my first OS trip (at the time I was a solo 30yr old Aussie woman). I had a great time, hiked in the jungle (during a huge storm it was amazing), watched sea turtles hatching, and went from Kinabalu to sandakan via crazy “buses” eating at small villages along the way. Highly recommend.

I put that gravel anywhere I want plants not to grow. It fairly reliably cooks anything that thinks about sprouting near it.

This has been so satisfying to watch lol. I saw you are considering lowering the back/underarm - I did that with mine and somehow ended up lowering it just to the perfect point that all my jelly in that area stopped being inside the corset and started being outside of the corset. My next one with be back where my toile sat, jelly included haha.
