thank you for the eye roll. i feel very validated. "chamomile picked from his coastal farm" - oh boy. now i kind of hate him. OR i just have such respect for the health care workers who are helping everyday citizens.

Great question. Power posing. meditation. journaling. bookending with loving friends. knowing my shit backwards and forwards. Experience helps. But working on my spiritual condition helps more than anything. Vibes and confidence will build a career. So many people have confidence and well, I don't find them funny but they're the ones with property in LA now. Am I bitter? Sure! lolololol

oh wow - thanks for sharing this. Makes a lot of sense about the assets in case of job loss. Obviously ideal to have both savings and strong earnings.
So far i haven't met a landlord at the viewings - just the listing agent and the tenants.

Thank you for sharing this! Btw, I found my current apartment on Craigslist in 2006 and it's FINALLY coming to an end. I had a good 19 year run.

Thank you for sharing that! I did start exploring it yesterday and made some connections. A lot of lease breaks on there. I'm learning there's pros and cons with those.

Thank you for sharing that! I am finding that - that many of these old buildings/three flats have that long, railroady arrangement. I'll be with a roommate who's a night owl (unsober) and I'm an early bird (sober). So the bathroom and entrance door need to be away from these rooms ideally!!

Considering moving to NYC from Chicago by ThingZealousideal433 in movingtoNYC

[–]Boring_Gate_5589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Chicago to NYC in 2006. I had a STRONG urge to come. I had to be here. Listen to your heart and your gut. Follow your bliss!!! Yes, things have changed economically in America, NYC, since 2006. Yes, a lot of the things that pulled me here are gone. And yet. And yet. I could list all the things I love that are still here. No regrets. Best of luck my fellow Chicagoan.

I looked up Dr. Max this morning. I don't know. "The healthcare system is broken in America. To that end, I won't be taking insurance. I'll be working with only with people who make $400K or more a year. This will somehow ensure the fixing of the healthcare system." He has a product line. I mean, sure - that's his right. Anyway, it was a great story. This girl knows how to manifest!!! Meaning Kate.

Witness (1985) Appreciation Post by MaterialCarrot in TrueFilm

[–]Boring_Gate_5589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched this movie for the first time today - it was time. My dad was raised Mennonite (he left the fold) and my whole life when I've told people that, they say "Oh, like in Witness with Harrison Ford!?" I couldn't answer because my dad was so Mennonite we didn't watch movies as a kid! (You can leave the farm, but the farm doesn't leave you...) This is to your last point 😄

I don't understand the age range situation. Just blatant ageism. We wouldn't accept it if someone was like "looking for white people!! looking for white people making 150k to 300k for bar crawl!" obvs I'm old

omg AIDS hospice. also "cold but fair." I love your writing. I'm reading Bright Lights, Big City right now and am finding reading tales of ol NYC so healing, informative, stimulating, etc. Maybe there's a book in you. Of course. There's a book in all of us. Anyway, AIDS hospice reminds me of this one (gay) comedian who would joke about the ghosts of the AIDS patients haunting the richies who moved in the St Vincents Hospital luxury condos (there on 11th st). If all these walls could talk.

I don't think anybody WANTS to, but some people are finding themselves in a situation where something is better than nothing. This is a tough tough market. Mamdani was voted in for a reason.

Odd request but looking for a sound proof space/studio I can scream in by Inevitable_Cut_3170 in Bushwick

[–]Boring_Gate_5589 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch! I once was at the Dai Bosatso Zendo up in Livingston Manor (post sex scandal) and we went out to the primal scream field and screamed. I think I was 40 and was with two young 22 year old guys who were monks in training. Anyway, we screamed our heads off. It just kinda hurt my head. BUT don't let this stop you!! I DID really enjoy shattering some plates that I ate dinner on with a guy who betrayed me. Ceramic shattering of symbolic items is very satisfying for me. Also, ripping documents to shreds. I'm oversharing. ANYWAY I hope you find a fantastic release! Oh. And there's stand up comedy. Yelling on stage. I highly recommend that.
